Alli - you have done really well. One thing that concerns me on your SparkPage. You comment that you want to lose weight and tone up so that you will be the one guys talk to .....! Weight doesn't have anything to do with whether other people interact with you or not. Maybe with your obvious intelligence, others may feel intimidated. OR, perhaps you are shy and they don't know how to approach you because you haven't been able to share anything of yourself with them. All it takes initially is to befriend one or two people who you think you like the feel of, and things will grow from there. You will find that you will start to be included in their social things as well, and as a result, some of your boredom will leave you.

One of the most important things that we can learn, tho', is how to be happy in our own company. After all, WE (ourselves) are the people that we ALL spend the most time with!

Don't forget - there are many people here who are also lonely, and there is nothing wrong with friendships and communications on here. I have developed some really good ones, people with whom you can share just that "little bit more" and that brings some form of satisfaction in itself. It also reduces lonliness quite considerably.

IF you have spare time, and it doesn't affect your studies at all, perhaps you may like to think about volunteering part-time somewhere - hospital, church group, youth group, etc. They are all crying out for volunteers and it is a really good and safe place to get that little bit more you require for life, and on top of that, the fact you have been prepared to volunteer time AND at your age, would be really great on any CV! It shows that you think of others, and are prepared to go that extra distance.

Good luck and Take care,
Kris

Alli - I am so glad it went well and I know you work hard. I had a 3.80, I think (CUM LAUDE). i WAS INDUCTED INTO psi chi - THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY for Psychology.

You will do fine. Keep sharing, keep it simple, and know we all have mess-ups. Life is not always smooth sailing, that's why I didn't get my BS degree until I was 35.

We are here for you my friend.

It was great! to get into the honor society you have to be the top 10% of the class, so there were 120 people invited out of 1200! but i was in the top 5% of my class. i worked pretty hard and i hope i can keep it up, along with my weight loss!

I have this problem too. I try to find something to keep me busy, even if it's us getting on the computer and sparking! Try to find something you enjoy that you can do easily when you are feeling bored. As for the loneliness, that's what we're here for! Come chat whenever you fell lonely and I'm sure you'll feel better afterward. Good luck and stay positive! emoticon emoticon

Thank you everyone for the bits of advice. im sure once tomorrow comes i will be better. i have an honor society induction and my sister and cousin are coming up to stay that night, and i cant wait. today and yesterday have just been lonely. no one around here to hang out with and nothing to do but homework... which doesnt help when you cant figure out what your doing in chemistry.... but anyways reading the responses did give me a smile. its good to have support. right now im trying to take a nap(not being successful) and then hopefully getting up and feeling better, do some more homework and maybe going to a track meet... if its not too rainy out. thank you everyone!

emoticon Alli,

What's up today, sounds like from your spark page that you are bored and lonely? Any plans coming up for the week-end or something you can do now to not be bored and lonely?

It looks like you have been doing OK with your spark program thus far. Make sure you are not too hard on yourself and keep your expectations and goals simple and achievable to develop some confidence in self and establish consistency.

We are here for you.

Nancy

Hi Alli! Sorry the 'sads' got to you today. Some days, unfortunately, are like that. But the good news is we don't have to just wallow in it. Activity is the best thing for you right now. Go do laundry and walk outside for a bit. Do some exercise; that increases the endorphins in your brain to elevate your mood.

Call a friend to take a walk with you or go to the zoo and make fun of the animals. Laughter is great on a day like this.

Get moving! Don't let this little monster win. You are an intelligent, accomplished and successful young woman. Take ownership of your day!!! Go smile at yourself in the mirror and see who we see! The smile is good for you and is a lot easier than any frown you can put on. Smile at others when walking; you'll make their day and yours better.

Hope these little nuggets are helpful. Congrats on the weight loss - and particularly feeling better about you. Come back soon and post often. We're here for you and we care!

Oh, I know what you mean. Sometimes it doesn't matter if the sun is shining, you can still feel its warmth in your heart. Other days can be so beautiful, but it's so gloomy in your heart, you can hardly see the next moment.
My therapist gave me some great advice that has helped me a lot over time. On the gloomy days, set a small goal. If you have laundry that needs doing, do one load. If there are dishes in the sink, get the glasses clean. If bed beckons you, make it so you aren't as tempted. If food is calling, drink a glass of water and wait 10 minutes to see if it is still calling.
Keep in touch. I hope the sun shines for you today no matter what. emoticon
