CONFUERZA Your blog is very well written, and even quite possibly publishable, in my opinion! Great perspective!

Hello,
I found myself in a simliar mindset the other day, especially in relation to my body. I ended up blogging "in honor of my body" as an attempt to boost my appreciation. It was easier when writing about it as if I was addressing someone else. But it had the same affect on me - I realized it's been and continue to be good to me.

If you're interested, you can take a look here and see if it helps you in any way:

Jodi and Pam beat me to it. I wanted to point out that you have a major case of beauty. But even more important, I wonder if you're too rigid in the criteria you use to determine what warrants compliments?

You should compliment yourself on every small goal you accomplish, every task well done, very smile you put on someone else's face....everything.

Did the dinner you cooked tonight turn out well? Compliment.

Did you iron a shirt perfectly (I'm the clumsiest ironer)? Compliment.

Did people laugh at something you said today? Compliment.

Did you lose about four pounds? (Aha!) Compliment.

Did you rearrange a closet? Compliment.

Get a promotion at work? Compliment.

Well...not knowing one thing about you...and just from one look at your picture I can already see THREE nice things about you.

1. You have beautiful eyes.
2. You have beautiful hair.
3. You have a beautiful face...and I'll bet it would light up a room if there was a smile on it.

So if you ever want to come up with three things again...even if YOU don't think this way...just tell yourself...

"Pam thinks I have beautiful eyes, hair, and a beautiful face that with a smile on it could light up a room."

I am sure most everyone else would agree with me about those three things. So now, I want YOU to agree with me.

Take care hon, and keep in touch. I am sure that if you really think about it, that you can come up with at least ONE nice thing about yourself daily...and if not...refer back to the list that I gave you because it is very true. Just look at you. You are gorgeous!!!!

You have beautiful eyes!
If you have someone in your life who cares about you, ask them what what your best characteristics are, and you might be pleasantly surprised by the feedback you get!

That is an awesome goal! Now I'll bet you could find 3 things each day if you really thought about it. I agree that maybe you should temporarily lower it to 1 a day and once that is easy add a second and so on. I actually found that if I kept a running record of my day's activities, no matter how trivial I found that I could compliment myself easier because I could see what I accomplished in my day, even my lazy days weren't as lazy I I thought. Remember the compliments could be small ones too... on a bad, day it could just be 'well done, you got up and dressed before XX o'clock".

I have always had depressioin and low self esteme. I very often feel like i'm the only one who feels that way, like no one around me understands how it feels to not have something nice to say about yourself. It is comforting to know that i'm not the only one out there. I'm glad that someone else out there is willing to share there feelings about it. Thanks!

I've definitely found it hard at times to find anything nice to say about myself. The fog of depression and low self-esteem can really distort my perception of me. It's getting easier, though. Don't give up your goal--modify it maybe, like VXWALL suggested--but finding something good to say about yourself is very healing.

Sometimes we have to rethink our goals. Start small and work your way up. Maybe starting with one compliment a day would do for openers. I think we sometimes forget the obvious. These are things I recognize already: you have a pretty smile, are caring, work hard to accomplish things, know how to set goals, etc. Think of things you do that make you who you are. Hope this helps.

Now for the rest of it! Welcome to the DWD Team! We are a caring and compassionate group of people constantly giving and getting support and encouragement. Setting specific goals will help you to achieve the end result you want.

I suggest using the Nutrition Tracker (above left under My Tools) to see the range of calories and other nutrition elements to jumpstart a weightloss plan. This is not a diet, but rather a journey to a healthier lifestyle. You do not have forbidden foods, but you are better off with a real commitment to controlled portions. I've made it a habit to measure or weigh anything going in my mouth. It makes a major difference and your clothes start fitting better in no time.

Add exercise (at least 10 minutes at a tune) and drinking 8 cups of water a day and you have the basics of the SP healthy lifestyle.

I look forward to seeing you on the boards. The more interaction you have with the team members the higher the success rate.

yes I've felt that way before,it is strange feeling for me when it happens to me. I have to just sit back and relax and try again later it does take me a few days to even get started again. You can do it just take a few breathes and don't beat yourself up if you cann't do a goal some days are definitly better than others in my case anyway.

I find that one of the hardest goals I've set up for myself is to give myself 3 compliments a day. I sat at my computer one day and was actually stumped. I couldn't think of one thing nice to say about ME! And I actually haven't attempted the goal since. It seems like something so easy shouldn't be this hard, but it is. Anyone else ever feel that way? emoticon
