If the HR acts that way, that's a real bad sign and having been in jobs that ate my brain, if you have alternatives, I would consider them. Lack of sufficient money is terrible but a terrible job with ok money is just as bad.

4 Noble Truths

1. Suffering is a part of life
2. Suffering is caused by our attachments and avoidances.
3. Suffering can be ended.
4. Freedom from suffering is possible by following the Eightfold path.

Bigotry disguised as morality is still bigotry just as an outhouse with
marble columns is still an outhouse.

Hi,

I totally agree with what's been said and what you've decided to do.

Speaking as someone who has been in the position of hiring people and using headhunters/recruiters to find people, this guy was totally unprofessional.

You should not feel obligated to take the position for any reason. As a recruiter, he doesn't have a right to treat you that way. That being said, I can understand his frustration if you received and signed an acceptance letter (never sign those unless you're 100% sure you want the job).

Good luck your future job hunting efforts. I'm sure you'll find something that is better suited to your needs. Take care!

I agree how unprofessional. You wouldn't want to work with people like that. I feel you pain I'm looking for a job. Just remember the job will come when you are for it. I wouldn't even call them back unless you really need the job. Good Luck! emoticon

Yeah I have been thinking about it for awhile now and when it comes right down to it, I am not happy with the people and situation and I am not even there. So I think it would be complete hell for me to be there for 2 years.

My boyfriend is very worried about me. He says I am always stressing about something: school, graduation, my test, work. This makes me his worry how I will handle working and stressful things later.

I hate to turn down the money and benefits but I think I have too. I'll keep looking though and something will come along. :)

They were totally out of line! After that I would absolutely never go to work for them! It sounds like it would be horrible!

Looking at other options is your right and your responsibility. I can understand their thought process but it doesn't give anyone the right to essentially treat you inappropriately.

If you have already decided against this position, then tell them and get on with it. Your call! Not theirs.

Just continue to assess the pros and cons of your options before making your decision. And then don't second guess yourself. Go at it full speed ahead.

So I just graduated dental school, passed all my exams and this should be a happy time right? Wrong! Finding a job has turned out to be a total nightmare!!

So I just received a very rude and nasty phone call from the recruiter of the job in Alpena. I don't know why but they only interviewed me for the job and told me this. I guess they expected me to take it hands down. Well as you all know, I have been looking at other jobs. They found out I was looking at other jobs and basically called and yelled at me. I told them my concerns with this job (as far as being 4 hours away from family, living in such a tiny town where there is nothing to do, and only doing limited procedures at this clinic). There would not be a lot of crowns or root canals. The recruiter could not understand why I would possibly look at other jobs when this one pays the most and offers loan repayment.

I seriously am at a lost of what to do. I really didn't like his attitude. And now I feel that if I went to work for them, they would be angry with me. But if I don't work for them, I feel they will trash my name with other places.

I almost feel it would be stupid to not take this job with the money and time off but my god, I am bored on the weekends when I am near people. What will I do up there?
