It is sad that your son had to see that and you couldn't put him down. I have talked to people on the trail that I see throw down trash or beer cans. They usually look at me like I have 3 heads but they usually pick it back up. I also followed a family once that had small children and the kids were dropping M&M's all over the trail. Normally I would not have said a word, cause kids drop things, but we were in bear country and I thought I might advise them that on the way back they might encounter one, as they just left a trail for a bear to follow.

What really upsets me is when we have planned to take a rest somewhere on a hike or to have lunch there, and when we get there we find enough broken glass that we just can't put our son down! But can you imagine the dedication to get drunk it takes to cart all that beer into the middle of a park?

We visited a shelter in PA and apparently they have parties there, cause there was trash and beers cans all over the place. When we got home we contacted the overseer of the PATC, and the shelter overseer to inform them of the disaray of that area. Yes, it is so gross what people do. They have no disregard for the planet, let alone their national parks.

My husband and I whent hiking today with the little guy in the backpack. The road we normally take to get to the trailhead was closed so we had to walk along the road for quite some time to get to the trail head, but since there were no cars it wasn't unplesant. However, at several places along the side of the road we could see that people driving by had throw cases of beer filled with empty bottles out onto the side of the road. I mean maybe 50 or 60 bottles littered the roadside in several places. If I had had my car I could have picked them up, but as it was, well I just can't haul that much any distnace. I can only hope that the people drinking weren't also driving. I just wanted to share how disgusted I am, and in a national park as well. I wish I could find whoever did it and give them a piece of my mind, still, they probably wouldn't care and would just pelt me with beer cans. Fuming!!!!
