I am from Indiana.

The weather was quite decent. 25-40 at night and 45-72 during the day. One morning we awoke to find the water left in the dish pan frozen....it made cuddling to stay warm necessary...darn the weather, lol.

We camped at Lake Winfield Scott NRA. Slaughter Creek Trail and Jarrard Gap Trail out of the park looped with the AT to make the 8.5 mile loop up Blood Mountain. We were also very close to Springer Mountain, one of our goals was to view the AT. Terminus.

We also hike in to view Amicolola Falls, Dukes Creek Falls and DeSoto Falls

Welcome to the AT
Sounds like you had a great time. How was the weather and water situation? Did you camp on the trail or at a campground?

Are you from GA? There are a few people in this group from GA and love to hike.

My boyfriend and I have just finished nine days camping and hiking Springer Mountain and Blood Mountain...We hiked to nearby waterfalls also and the 6/10 mile to the summit of Brasstown Bald....

We are wanting to do the 158 mile Benton Machaye-AT loop in North Carolina next summer as our first long hike.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....
