Wow. I'm glad I always have my wallet and keys in my hands when I pump gas. Everything else in my purse is convenience stuff and an inhaler for my son. I'd box someone about that though. Not because I can't easily replace it, but because they're being d-bags.

It doesn't hurt being extra cautious! Better to be safe than sorry!

I always keep my doors locked and even security on when I am even in my own drive-way. Also, the doors to my home!

I always lock the passenger side and keep my keys in my pocket when I pump gas. I have heard about women getting their purses stolen out of their open passenger side window while stopped at traffic lights, too, so I keep that window up and the door locked.

I work in a rough part of my city and usually gas up there. No matter where I am, I lock the second I get in or out of the car.

I always did that and felt silly and paranoid, I'm glad I can justify it now.

Hubby's often laughed at me for locking the car all the time, including when I get out to pump gas. He's not laughing any more

Good advice!

However, I have a better solution! After almost 51 years; I have never pumped my own gas!

I did fill the ambilance when I was an EMT.. Also, when I was a Juvy. Court Courier I fill the unmarked cruiser I drove.

The news is featuring an article this morning on "Sliders", thieves who pull up along side your car at the gas pumps, slide out the door while you are pumping gas, and take your purse off the front seat of your car. Then get back in their car and speed away. Do LOCK your car door on the passenger side & keep your purse with you. Don't leave your purse in the car to go into the gas station even if no one is at the pump, they can drive up and take it in a few seconds.
