LOL - I wish I could delete it. It skews all my other fasts.

I'm starting a 3 day fast today. My 2 day fast went well.

Yep!! I saw you there in the app, KD!! Wow, 568 hours of fasting, eh?? Bet you were happy to break that fast! Thats 24 days almost (kinda what I did when I was detoxing after chemo.). Im not sure how to delete it either.

I will have to research the Clark protocal. I have never heard of it. I didn't know what your numbers indicated. Yes, I agree that it is easier to fast when I am alone. But lately no one takes any trips and I get questioned and have to explain once again why I am not eating.

My DH is in Hawaii this next year - so I am going to attempt more aggressive fasting because it's easier when he's not here.

I'm doing the Clark Protocol the first 3 weeks of January.

2 meals 1/2; Fast 3/4; 2 meals 5/6; fast 7-9; 2 meals 10/11; fast 12-15; 2 meals 16/17; fast 18-22 and then done.

It's more than I've ever done, but I'm looking forward to doing that and seeing the results. I've heard from people who have done it and it's been a game changer for some.

I've been working on getting stuff out of my fridge and it's looking really good. Buying for 2 days will be easy. I'm going to make a 2020 Chat and Challenge Board thread - let's move it over!

I'm planning to make Mondays my fast days (Sunday nights until sometime Tuesdays) -- too much going on this week but Mondays should work most weeks.

Happy New Year Everyone!

KD I find the editing when I forget to shut it off tricky. I also have at least one or two I accidentally submitted that I cannot edit. Lol. I went and found you guys and joined!
I need real food and water today. My party was fun but I just picked at snacks and drank whiskey. I alternated with water but not enough. I have teenagers sleeping in the living room next to the kitchen , so once I feel like it’s enough sleep for them I’ll go cook bacon and eggs and lc pancakes. I’m sticking to bacon and eggs but the kids will love the lc pancakes! For now happy to drink coffee with hwc. Tomorrow will be fasting day 1. Intend to go from dinner tonight until at least dinner Thursday but may push to Friday morning. We are going to a hot springs for the day and a swimsuit requires fasting! My tummy is poofy. This coming Sunday DH and I will start a 36 hr fast after dinner. Last time we did a 36 ended up going 42. What are your fasting plans?

I found that and joined Julia!! Sometimes I forget to end my fast and it looks like a really long one, but then I just adjust at the end. I do have one 568 hour fast (that I really didn't do) that I can't figure out how to delete.

Anyway - we're on the same team!

I was thinking it would be great to find you guys if you use it., I enjoy seeing my time accumulate as it motivates me to stick with it when I might want to stop my fast early!

I’m looking forward to getting done with my party tonight and getting back to eating right and fasting. My stomach is showing the bloat - eww.

Well, I guess I don't know how to count. 10:30 AM Sunday to 10:30 AM Monday would be 24 hours of fasting. Then I will just add to that until I eat later today (maybe...depending on how I feel). Geeze, must have been a NON-Thinker day!!

I always have this renewed energy at the beginning of a week, a new month and especially a new year. I wish I could harness that and carry it through all year. I have come a long way, but yet have a long way to go.

On to look at the No Snacking Thread. Have a good day.

Friends were visiting from Florida and we went out for breakfast. So I started a fast at 10:30 this morning. Thinking about eating at dinner tomorrow. So that would be about an 18 or 19 hour fast. Once I am back to work on normal hours, I am more structured. All this time off and food everywhere has been terrible for me.

I would like to join the no snack challenge. Are we to just report on this thread?

Karen, the no snacking challenge sounds like a good idea for January after all the snacking that goes on in December. I will try adding it to the team goals.

Wow that is very ambitious over the holidays Bev Anne - you are doing great!

I did a no dairy/no snacking challenge last January. It was so hard.

I'm going to do a no snacking challenge this January. That'll set me up for success in the rest of 2020, rather than starting off hating my life...

I fasted yesterday and will break the fast later today. My plan is to fast for one full day per week -- 36 to 46 hours more or less. I did that last week and this week and hope to continue. As well, I am doing an elimination protocol which means the elimination of 8 categories of foods from my diet -- grains, dairy, legumes, nuts & seeds, inflammatory oils, eggs, nightshades, and all sweeteners (including stevia) for at least 8 weeks. I have already done this elimination protocol for almost 4 weeks but I think I will join an online group that is starting on January 6 and I will do 8 weeks from then before I try to add back any of the eliminated foods that are still keto-friendly. There is still lots to eat but I do miss using natural stevia, eggs, and flaxseeds so those will be the first things I try to add back into my program. Meanwhile, I seem to be losing again so I am happy to stick with the elimination part of my diet and hope that some of my other symptoms will disappear along with the weight.

Good morning all. I’m ready to get out of holiday break and back to fasting. I’m planning on committing this new year to a focus on my food quality. I’m not always hungry and struggle with making my food intake count when I do eat. I’m maintain in the 133-135 range with holiday food choices and my 2020 goal is to drop my last 10 lbs and continue toning. When I break out my summer gear I wanna see muscle definition in my legs not just my arms. Working on increasing my low iron levels which I hope will improve my endurance and allow me the energy to start running again.
Hoping to fast until dinner tonight. Stopped at dinner last night.
Are we anticipating any team challenges January 1?

I loved this article. There are many health benefits to fasting/intermittent fasting - weight loss is only one. And not even the most important one.

I'm going to do an interesting fasting protocol starting January 1st. I'll post updates!

I joined this group some time ago, but have not been an active participant.
I hope to be more involved to see what this team is about, what support is available and what I can do to be a part of the group. To start... I am going to be fasting 7:00 PM last night to 5:00 PM tonight . A 22 hour fast. Will be watching my carbs and will try very hard to have only a 4 hour eating window all this week.

I'm pretty much doing 20/4 for the rest of the year. Not at a particular time, but when I start my eating window, closing it no later than 4 hours later. I figure since I'm not doing strict keto right now, that will compensate. Hopefully not a gain anyways.

Yes, that does look interesting but I think it is a bit too aggressive for me at the moment. I am doing The Inflammation Spectrum plan by Dr. Will Cole at the moment. It's not in the plan per se but I will do a few days of fasting as well -- probably only about 40 hours each. Maybe more in the new year. Maybe I'll try this Clark Protocol next summer.

Have you ever heard of the Clark Protocol Bev Anne? It's a fasting regime one of Brenda Zorn's patients created. Very interesting.

Days:

1-2 Feast 2 meals per day
3-4 Fast 2 days
5-6 Feast 2 meals per day
7-9 Fast 3 days
10-11 Feast 2 meals per day
12-15 Fast 4 days
16-17 Feast 2 meals per day
18-22 Fast 5 days

This is a pretty aggressive fasting schedule - not recommended more than once a quarter. She's doing a group fast of the Clark Protocol starting January 1st.

I have only been to Hawaii once and we (a group of us) stayed in a house near the east coast -- I think it was near Kaneohe Bay but we did go to Pearl Harbour and swam with the dolphins and turtles off the west coast as well.

My favourite part was snorkeling in Hanauma Bay.

Back from two weeks in Hawaii - and I had a fabulous time with hubby!! Down side is that it was really REALLY hard to eat low carb and IF while I was there, so I gave up about half way through. I think I probably did low carb / IF 50% of the time I was there.

Now I'm back though, and some of my clothes are tighter that I remember, so back to basics.

Don't worry what the new scale says at first -- scales vary and could be very different from your last one.

I'm glad you are enjoying LowCarb and IF -- I know I do. I don't miss any of the carby foods I used to eat. I still have trouble losing weight but I feel good and know the weight loss will come eventually.

Haven't been here for awhile and now working hard at Low Carb and need to get back to intermittent Fasting. Just being low carb consistently is really encouraging to me, as that was something I failed at over and over. My scale died, so I ordered a new one -- we will see if it says anything good. I did decided that my goal was eating right and getting into ketosis regardless of what the scale says.
Have a good week everyone!

So I am 2 weeks and 2 days away from going to Hawaii to see my husband!! I'm getting excited. Still trying to get under 140. With all the social engagements I've had, most of them involving food and wine, it's a struggle. But I persevere.

I think she will be even more surprised when you come back next year and have kept the weight off! She probably sees people losing then gaining back - keep up the good work and maybe next year she will ask what you've been doing!

..::::Farewell to August--last day! emoticon ..Had a good morning; went to the gym--surprise! Added some new equipment-new-leg press and more. Appreciated that--then to T.J. Maxx--the pet store and Trader Joes. Now enjoying a pleasant afternoon! ...::: Hugs!

And Karen---She did not inquire--guess she was not interested; though she did congratulate me and give me a high five. Think I will leave it at that. {I did it for me anyway}.

I told my new doctor that I was controlling my diabetes with diet and she was pleased. She doesn't know how much weight I have lost and the subject didn't come up. I didn't mention fasting either.

I'm so surprised when doctors don't at least ask what you are doing to lose weight seeing as it's so hard to do!! They might find a medical condition... or something that actually works!

In any case, I agree. Don't tell about IF, but I do let my doctors know I'm keto.

Thursday--Hello everyone! Awoke to rain this morning; rained during the night..... emoticon What a reprieve after the intense heat for several days. Plan to get an outdoor walk as it is nice and cool. Yesterday got the master bedroom vacuumed and shampooed! Feels so nice and looks great! Planning to finish all the rooms before cool weather arrives. So then, up and at-em! Enjoy your day!! Three day weekend coming!

BTW: Still doing well w/ keto--no plans to digress! My doctor was pleased at my wellness visit--with losing 23 pounds since my last annual exam a year ago. She didn't ask, and I did not tell her the reason why. I watched a video by Dr. Jason Fung and he advised against it. No need to borrow trouble.

I was planning to fast on Mondays (from Sunday to Tuesday - 36+ hours) but I just rejoined a local theatre group that I was in in the 90s and our rehearsals are Sunday afternoon, Monday night and Wednesday night (I won't have to be at all of them -- just the ones for the chorus -- I won't have a major solo). So I will have to figure out a fasting schedule around that but I plan to do at least one 36 hour fast per week -- Thursday is looking good at the moment.

Bev moving is one of the biggest stressors ever. You're done with that - now comes the recovery.

I fasted 3+ days last week (91 hours). My longest ever.

My daughter-in-law is moving in with me until January. She eats Mediterranean, so we will mesh well. She also bakes like an angel. Her keto cookies are amazing.

We are having a Labor Day Pool Party on Sunday - I'm going to ask her if she'll make a keto dessert for me. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. Chicken. Salads.

Oh did I mention I made a taboulleh salad (hemp hearts) that was amazing? You might like that Bev Anne. I threw in an orange bell pepper because DIL is allergic to cucumbers. Very pretty as well.

My IF schedule for September is tentatively M-W-F fasting. Fingers crossed, and if I don't make it, I'll at least get a 24 hour fast in before eating.

Anyone else have specific September fasting plans?

Still settling in to a new routine. I am up about 10 lbs but holding. I did a 48-hour fast last Sun-Tues and will try a 36 hour fast this week over approximately the same time period -- it will probably work out to be a little longer than that. I am going to make Mondays my fast day for the foreseeable future and see if that works. Maybe someday I'll do a longer one. I only ever reached my goal weight once in my life and that was almost 50 years ago -- I lost 100 lbs to do that but this time I have had 200 to lose -- I am currently down 60.

Good Sunday Morning!!

I am done losing my 3 lbs I gained over vacation - thankfully that came off easily. Now for the hard part. I am about 15 pounds from my goal - have not been to goal in maybe 20 years? I know it will be hard, but I am bound and determined.

How are y'all doing?

LOL - I used to lean way over to get a different number!!

I came back from vacation up 3 lbs. I am going to do a M-W-F fasting regime for 2 months if I can keep it up. That'll bring me to my first trip to Hawaii - and I'd love to be closer to my goal weight by then.

School starts here in TX next week!! Sad for me - traffic is horrible once again in the morning.

Here's one of many pics from my trip...

No furniture yet -- just the new beds. The furniture arrives on Friday and then we can begin to settle in. We have gathered all the rest of our stuff that has been stored at various places in the area so when the furniture arrives everything will be in the same place. I actually like the unpacking and deciding where things go. There is no rush -- we will just unpack a few boxes a day. Although this apartment is much smaller than our house was it is a much better layout and has a lot more storage places -- the last place had no closet by the front door for coats & stuff, no cleaning closet for the vacuum and mops, etc, and no linen closet. Also although the kitchen is a smaller area it has more cupboard space and a pantry. I know where a lot of the furniture will go but we have a lot of bookcases and books to settle and that will take some time.

Are you all moved Bev Anne? The unpacking is the hardest part - it's easy to stick everything in a box. Where do I put this? Where do I put that? When we were in the military moving every 3 years it kept our junk to a minimum. I moved it all - then when I unpacked, I put away what I had room for and donated the rest. I have a big house now and haven't moved in 14 years... I have a lot of junk!!

Not that I would call moving a vacation but I am sticking with keto friendly foods but not weighing anything so I am probably eating too much. I have no idea where my kitchen scales went so I may just go and buy a new one tomorrow -- if the old one shows up I'll have two. Next week I will get back to business and start paying more attention to my food.

Ladies I am sorry I have been such a poor team leader lately.

I am going on vacation in 4 days - my husband is moving to Hawaii the day I get back - everything is up in the air and discombobulated at our house. In addition - we have an extra dog and the weather is in the high 90s.

That being said.....

I'm doing the best I can Low Carb and IF. I usually always skip breakfast except on weekends. I'm going to try and do 2 meals a day on my trip, no snacks and my theory is to do the best I can. I made low carb/keto choices as much as possible. I don't worry about things I don't have control over, and know that I can get back to my own kitchen and my own cooking soon, but I want to enjoy my brother's wedding and the time I have in Alaska.

How do y'all manage vacation eating?

So good to hear from you Alofa!! I know what you mean about decluttering - my husband is a pack rat and once he leaves, the decluttering begins in earnest. Both of my kids are minimalists and don't want our stuff, so no need in saving anything for them.

I have a plan and will enact it, but can't do it right now.

Bev Anne I'm ready to do some IDM fasting when I get back. I saw a post by Megan Ramos that included an interesting plan for those stuck, or peri-post-menopausal women to get those last pounds off.

Monday - NMAD (no meals a day)
Tuesday - OMAD (one meal a day)
Wednesday - TMAD (two meals a day)
Thursday - NMAD
Friday - OMAD
Saturday - TMAD
Sunday - TMAD

I'd love to try that for a month and see what happens.

Happy Summer Everyone!!
Its been a long time since Ive popped in, glad to see the Team still Fasting Along emoticon I've been on a major Decluttering Mission for the past few months! Both my parents came to live with me and I was their caregiver. My dad passed in 2009, & mom in 2016. Ive been decluttering over the past year and half! Its been slow & in stages at first, now I can really let some things GO! I no longer feel like the Sentimental Keeper Of ALL Things.. Few things Ive kept that I really love & put aside many things for my siblings.. Tho I explained to them that if they don't want it then I will not "Hold On" to it for them.. That didn't go over very well! Oh well. Some of their Stuff has been sitting in bins for Years unopened. Time to Let Go.. I guess the young people call it Minimal Movement? Lol Im Old Skool I just call it Spring Cleaning/Decluttering. I was finding the cluttered spaces triggered my Vertigo, it stressed me out to see stuff everywhere!! Hubby isn't a big help, So when I was getting Vertigo, I just started throwing stuff away! Lol he calmed me down & promised to help more and it been much better. Progress...
emoticon Bev- Packing up can be stressful! It will be nice once you get into your place!!
emoticon Karen!! KetoCon!! Fun, what a blast,, glad it was great fun!!!!

You can do it Bev Anne!! You are almost there!! 3 weeks is nothing. I leave for Alaska for my brother's wedding in 2 weeks and 5 days. My husband leaves for Hawaii the day I get back and we do not overlap. That makes me very sad. The house is in upheaval, the movers aren't even scheduled yet. Sigh.

I know my life will be orderly and boring in a month, but I will do the best I can between now and then. I had bread and a few cookies this weekend. And a few bites of cheesecake. This is not like me at all, so I know I am stressed.

Thank you, Karen. We are living a very Spartan existence at the moment -- nothing on the walls, or in the cupboards and a mountain of boxes piled up in the living room. Our worldly possessions are spread all over the country (some in Okotoks in a storage place, somewhere our daughter is living and some in Calgary at my girlfriend's place). I am feeling a little better this afternoon -- just 2 weeks until we are there and all our stuff should be in one place in about 3 weeks -- I can survive until then.

Oh Bev Anne I totally get you!! My husband is moving to Hawaii for 3 years - and I am trying to share with him extra dishes, pots and pans, and linens and towels etc. He's worried about his computer and bed - that's it. If I was moving for 3 years - I'd have to have something nice on my walls to look at, but I fear when I go visit him it'll be spartan and bare. But stressful nonetheless, and that is nothing compared to your move!!

I'm sure your metrics will improve once you are there, unpacked, and back in your old routine.

We are having company for dinner and swimming today. Should be a nice day for it. And my oldest son is coming to visit the beginning of August, and I can hardly wait to see him!! It'll just be me and him for a few days - that will be so precious of a time!

Do your best - and let the rest go. Nothing will be achieved by worrying about things you have no control over.

Good luck on that!!

The stress of moving is getting to me -- my morning blood sugar is way too high. Normally I can eat some natural carbs like berries and flaxseed and still stay in ketosis. I am still showing a trace of ketones in my urine but I am still testing way too high on my blood sugar -- I haven't had anything to eat at all today so it should be coming down. I can feel the stress. It's not that we are not in good shape -- it is still more than a week before the movers come and almost everything is packed up and ready to go. I swear this is the last move I make until they carry me out in a pine box!

Great that the house sales went through both at the same time Bev Anne!!

KetoCon was fun. Friday was crazy (I wasn't there on Friday) but next year I will help out on Friday if I can.

Tickets were really expensive, and some people got mad that half the time had elapsed but they still had to pay full price.

There were more than 100 3 day tickets, prepaid for, that no one picked up. What a waste. There were 3 VIP bags ($1100 each) that went unclaimed. Why would anyone spend that much money and not go?

The most fun part was seeing all the famous keto people. Maria Emmerich. Thomas DeLauer. Adam Nally. Jimmy Moore. That was super fun!!

I didn't get to as many of the seminars as I wanted because I went to lunch with a local friend on my Saturday break, and traded my late shift for an early shift on Sunday and just went home because my son from Colorado was in town for a few days and I wanted to have dinner with him one last time.

But I have heard they will be on You Tube?

In any case... the ones I heard aren't much different from what I've read or heard on podcasts, although still interesting.

Karen,

How was Keto Con? I want to hear all about it.

When does your husband leave for Hawaii? It will be fun for you to go and visit him there.

We are still in the process of moving but can see the light at the end of the tunnel -- in 3 weeks we will be moved into our new home -- well, we will be there and our new beds will have been delivered but the rest of the furniture may not be there yet. Right now we are living in a chaos of boxes -- the kitchen is mostly packed so cooking is limited but that's ok -- I still have my frying pan and my husband still has his steamer pot so we are managing to feed ourselves.

Thank you Karen for the Birthday wishes, that is so pretty.
I had a nice lunch out at a special Italian restaurant with DH & DGD today.

Yes, it doesn't matter what day you plan to celebrate your love. As you mentioned, your marriage is strong and that is all that matters.

Haven't posted lately - but a lot has been going on.

My husband accepted a 3 year position in Hawaii (we live in TX). We are not selling the house and moving, just him. I will stay here, I still have a job also. My sister and all my inlaws are here as well, so I expect I will be just fine. Our marriage is strong and I will be going to visit him every few months while he is there.

What this means for me though is taking care of everything here by myself. Which I know will be more difficult. Also - not as much cooking so maybe I can finish losing the last 10 pounds or so I have to go!!

I plan on doing more IF, changing things up and seeing how it goes. One thing that Megan Ramos (of IDM) says is you cannot do the same thing all the time and expect change. You have to mix it up.

This month I am trying OMAD as much as I can. It's really not much harder, but I don't see a difference on the scale (yet). I'm sticking it out and will try something different in July.

In August I'm going to Alaska for my brother's wedding. Should be fun.

What is everyone else doing this summer?

emoticon KD. I agree it looks like One saw an opportunity to make money and went for it but not at my expense. I steer clear of get rich schemes and HURRY up schemes to lose weight!

I am glad your party went well !
As for my plans for when I hit my goal, I will stay with keto as a lifestyle, as I don't plan to return to the carb lifestyle. It is amazing to me that I have not one time awakened with hunger in the morning like I used to do before keto. And I wait until true hunger signals, but don't eat just because. It really is a new lifestyle altogether.

And I surprised myself this morning when I weighed two se I was down slightly over one more pound! (Last night for the first time I ate a tiny cup of applesauce as my stomach was bothering me). It must not have been enough to knock me out of fat burning mode!
Ok, enough for now.
Enjoy your day!

I looked SpeedKeto up and I think it's someone wanting to make money off of something you can get for free. There are cookbooks, meal plans, food combining, etc., but you can do all of it yourself.

The promoter says you can kick your keto stall too, but it looks like he is incorporating skipping meals and OMAD to do that. You can explore those options yourself for free.

That being said - a lot of people don't want to go to the effort of figuring all this stuff out. The macros, the foods, etc. $39 isn't a tremendous amount of money, but I feel like you will regret spending it when you get the digital (not physical) copy of his program. Just my opinion.

The party went well. We have plenty of leftovers. Mostly good. Some pie and ice cream which I am not even the smallest bit tempted by these days.

2B 17 pounds in 2 months is amazing!! I am so happy for you! I agree - take it as you go, and see what happens 5, 10 lbs from now and when you get to your goal weight, what is your plan to maintain and not continue to lose?

Hi KD,
I haven't been overly active on teams lately either so not to worry. I have a few irons in the fire that require my attention and I am staying with the program for a lifestyle of keto. I am happy to say that since I started two months ago exactly, I have dropped 17 pounds! .... Sometimes I will try on an outfit and especially in a dressing room in a store I will look in the full-length mirror and think oh my gosh is that me?? ... Recently I joined Facebook and there are tons of teams for keto! And loads of posts from people. Lots of success stories, and I see there is a push from a few which I plan to ignore which is called speed keto.

Anyone heard of that ? Apparently it was started by a doctor that is promoting it but you do pay for it whatever it is. I do not plan to even look into it and I'm not interested. I am not that far from where I want to be and now that I've lost this much I see a lot of lean muscle and my clothes are fitting well so I don't think I would want to lose more than 12 to 15 pounds. Of course I will have to see when I get to that place but if I know if I want to for my face would get too thin and I don't want that.

My husband is on the same page with me and he has really taken off the weight and had to buy smaller pants last weekend ! He saw his doctor last week and he was really happy with him. That's about all for now....Enjoy your party KD!...( And good for you for not providing desserts).

Happy Memorial Day Weekend friends!!

I've been remiss in posting lately. Things at home are pretty crazy and there has been something going on every day.

We have about 10 people coming to the house today for a swimming party and food. Sometimes it doesn't pay to have your own pool, especially in the summer and when it's hot! But the water is blue, and it should be nice. And hopefully I'll get a chance to go swimming and not just be in the kitchen organizing the food all day.

One thing I've noticed is that people are offering to bring desserts since I don't make any any more.... so we will have apple pie and ice cream! (not me of course)

My weight loss journey is not over. I still want to lose about 15 pounds, but have been stalled for a few months. I'm not really worried about it - I see where I can improve. My blood glucose and ketones are really good, so the type of food I'm eating agrees with my system.

Is there anything I can help anyone with? Any questions?

Yes indeed---and I am thinking of getting some fresh salmon and scallops for dinner tonight emoticon Love that it is zero carbs and healthy and delicious as well. Made some keto rolls yesterday---and I made keto tortillas a few days ago which was delicious and filling for hamburger tacos---w/ cheese! lol ... Used to think cheese was pretty much taboo---Now we have so many good flavors! Life is good on keto.

Oh--I tracked what I did that was good for me today on that thread.

Yay!! Glad to hear he likes the food (and who wouldn't?) and that he is also benefitting from you going keto!! My hubs loves the food too, and it makes life so much easier for me.

:::Happy the sun is shining again--Got a Vigorous workout in---plus vacuumed living room and dining room! I am thrilled my hubby is fully on board with keto---He graduated into it--but sure his Doctor will be happy when he sees him later this month. He is type 2 diabetic--has lost several pounds already--had to get a smaller belt yesterday. And his sugars are so much lower that he has reduced the amt. of insulin he takes significantly! ..

I am proud of him--but happy he finds all the dishes I fix--super delicious! (every one he says, "This is a keeper!"

My husband is lowcarb too but he is more vegetarian than I am and he is the one who cooks the veggies. But after they are cooked we each doctor them up to our own taste. I whip mine with the stick blender (it's usually cauliflower and/or broccoli) and add whatever I want to mine and he just pours olive oil over his with a sprinkle of pink salt. If he wants a bit of chicken/fish/beef then I get to cook that. So when I am doing one of my experiments I don't have to cook for him -- he just eats his veggies.

I have been hungry lately too but it comes and goes and I know I will survive.

I get left out of notifications from time to time too Bev Anne - I don't know why??

Interesting to do just nuts. If I lived alone I woujld try different things more often. As it is, I'm hard pressed to do anything different for dinner, although I can cook whatever I like for dinner and my hubby will eat it.

I am thinking about doing some 24 hour fasts, but lately I've been so hungry!!

Congratulations Lois!

For some reason I haven't been getting messages for this thread -- that seems to happen from time to time on various threads.

Right now I am on the second day of another Fasting Mimicking diet -- which means one meal a day around 800 calories for 5 days. This time I am eating nuts for my meal -- one day pecans and the next day Brazil nuts -- they have just about the right macros for this type of protocol. I do get a bit hungry at times but this seems to be the only thing that works for me as far as weight loss is concerned -- and I know I won't starve. I am thinking of doing this protocol every third week except for when we go up to Calgary which may be next month.

I am still enjoying the ketotarian way of eating. For me using net carbs for real food really seems to work and I don't eat anything processed and packaged anymore anyway.

I'm SO excited. Well, interestingly enough my fast was going well and because of circumstances, I had to go to a friend's house to shower (since I had been renovating another house and home was 30 away) so I could go to my grandson's college play (an easter play). Well, she made dinner and made a plate for me. I just said, OK Lord, here I am and I'm not going to talk about my fasting, so I ate a meal. It was reasonable and I took no second helpings except for some lettuce. Then I fasted on Friday, went to work 11-7 and ate one meal on Saturday, went to work 11-7 Saturday night and ate 2 meals on Sunday. and got up this morning to a new low number on the scale, that I haven't seen in months.... I was very restrictive in my food choices (protein and veg) and reasonable portions. And I'm thrilled beyond measure. Maybe this is a breakthrough for me. I have 100# to lose.... So, I'm thrilled with my fasting. I read some scripture that I hadn't read in months and I'm doing great! On to another week!

WELL.... I'm delighted
I have struggled for about 2 years, trying to lose and gradually gaining. WELL....
God and I had a chat and Holy Week is probably the most important holiday in my life, thinking about Jesus and that he died so I could spend eternity with him.
So, after doing EVERYTHING wrong since the beginning of the year, I had a memory of several years ago when I fasted Holy Week, so I said "I did it before and didn't feel bad, think I need to do it again." So after working 11-7 Sat night, I ate breakfast and a huge DQ Blizzard (hadn't had one in years) knowing that when I woke up I was going to fast all week.
Here it is Thursday and I have not eaten since Sunday at about 11am when I went to sleep. AND the crazy thing, is that I feel better than I have for months.
I want to spend time in the Bible and obviously lose weight at the same time, thanking God for the courage to persist. And so far, it's been AMAZING... I have to work 11-7 Friday and Saturday night so that might be a challenge, but I want to rejoice Easter Sunday with the Lord over His protection, His grace, and His love -- not sure when I will eat again, but I'll be going to 23:1 with OMAD. Now, I know I can do that because of my fasting this week. I'll update you as we move along.

We took our taxes in the end of January. Always good to get it done--and better yet, to get a refund from both state and federal gov.
I am definitely on board' to make this a great month and keep my momentum going!

April 15 - have you got your taxes done??? We just submitted ours late last night. My husband does them, and I do not know why he needs to wait until the last minute. But they are done and we are not paying this year, so YAY!!!

We have half of the month left to do some spectacular LC IF work ladies!!

I am going to do 2 24 hour fasts this week. Monday night to Tuesday night, and Wednesday night to Thursday night. This looks like a 5 pm - 5 pm fast... not going more than that this week.

Does anyone have plans for Easter? We are going to our cousins' who just moved here from New York. I'm making turkey and some sides.

When you start to branch out - there is 2KetoDudes, KetoAnswers, and the IntermittentFasting Podcast that I really enjoy. I also like Dr. Schur on Diet Doctor.

Going away for the weekend - up to Austin with girlfriends!! I will stay keto - they know what to expect by now. None of the rest of them are, so I bring a few things just in case there are not choices I want to make.

The end of June is a KetoCon conference in Austin I will go to. That sounds really fun to me. I will be a volunteer so work some of it and go to a few conferences in between my shifts.

The keto flu is real - might take up to a few weeks to get over it. You are doing the right thing 2B - just keep calm and keto on.

Have you checked out any podcasts on keto yet? There are a ton of good ones out there!!

I just had a spark member comment on my blog and sad to say she said she asked her Doctor and nutritionist IF she could start keto and they both said "NO" (emphatically) . I wrote a long paragraph on her page and thanked her for reading, but one thing I said was, I did not call my NP and ask her permission if I could start keto. I simply started and got to learning how-what-why and more.

Next---my weight has stayed the same for the past two days---have been tracking my carbs and staying at or under 20. I have not been exercising due the keto flu (for so long) But today am just about to get going regardless!! ..

And this is partly on a different subject - when my husband was diagnosed with diabetes we went to a diabetes doctor and he said a low carb diet was the best thing he could do for himself - except he realized that most people could not stick to it. Then he went on to give him insulin to counteract the food he was eating at the time. I do not think he could have changed his diet at that particular time, but that was maybe 8 year ago, so I do think the doctors are getting more educated about the role diet has in diabetes management.

By the way - he no longer has diabetes. He got a gastric sleeve, lost the weight and lost the diabetes. BUT he didn't lose all his excess weight, and he is willing to do keto now to finally get there. I wish he (we) knew about keto back then... the doctor didn't spend time with us trying to convince us to do it. He was rather complacent.

Hard to tell as I'm fighting a virus at the moment - a tiresome cough (lots of people have it - it's the same cough for everyone!)

But I'm feeling calm and not craving - and those are both nice feelings.

Yesterday I ate at 9, 12 and 4 - so today, I'll be getting that 16 hr fast. I started my day at 6 am with water, then coffee.

Those people are just repeating what they have heard. They have not done any research and have NOTHING to back up that statement with.

I was at a gym a few months back - there was a trainer who was trying to get us (my girlfriend and me) to sign up with him. We were talking and he said that keto was unsustainable for more than a few months. I said "I've been doing it for 10 months now" and he had no reply to that. Other than "most people can't do that". Okay. Whatever.

I'll just do what I'm doing, and you go ahead and do what you think will work and we'll see where we are next time this year.

Thanks KD---I agree keto really does shake things up and doesn't waste time either.
Yesterday, I made the most wonderful dinner: ...... emoticon

Italian keto meatballs and garlic keto bread ... (made w/ almond flour) made the garlic butter too. When my hubby walked in the house, he asked, "What is that awesome smell?" ... I will make the keto bread again, and now I am going to watch a video on making keto rolls. (Made enough I don't have to cook tonight---just warm it up)

I like that as this morning I went through my kitchen and continued spring cleaning and revamping things. Got rid of all my old spices and am replacing with fresh. Also spent time in the garage and found my scale, so now I can weigh certain things.

By the way, I have gotten a few notes by sp members saying, "You know you can't stay on that keto diet for long." ..... I thought, "What is dangerous about it and is one to return to their former way of eating .... and gain the weight back and all the other problems that went w/ a high carb way of eating?
