OK so I am thirsty. However...I have to get up off my lazy tail to go GET some water. And I'm not sure if we had a water delivery or not. If not, I will have to walk my previously mentioned lazy tail out to the warehouse area & see if they have water. I've only had like 8 oz today...no wonder I am dying of thirst!!! Get up & go drink!!! Yes...that's for me AND you!!!

Awesome job, Mo!

Well I am pleased to say that I got in 96 ounces of water today. I certainly feel better getting my water in especially this time of year when my skin gets super dry!

Now it is time for some nice warm herbal tea. emoticon

So, confession time. I didn't get my water in. That is unusual for me, but I was super concentrated on cleaning and getting some things made for lunches this week. Tomorrow I will start the day with a full cup of water and see if I can't start my water streak over.

How did everyone else do today?

Jan 5 - drank all my allotted water, but would have loved a diet 7up instead. Diet soda is something I started again this past year and I really need to just stop drinking it! So I am working on that!

I got a cup for my birthday that is 24 ounces. I try to drink three of them a day. Today I was successful but only because I was back at work. Some how it is easier for me to have the cup there and drink all day then when I am at home and have to hunt it down.

OK...I am making my intention PUBLIC. I am re-committing to my water drinking right now. Yes, I also have a harder time drinking a TON of water when it's cold. But hey...it's not even cold here right now. So today I will drink a minimum of 64 oz & then I want to get back to doing more. If I'm drinking a TON of water at least I know I'm not drinking any sugary sweet no nos. LOL!

And I need to flush all the junk of the past few weeks. So I am making water my beverage of choice! (After my one morning coffee that is!!!)

So...2 weeks ago...I was drinking 96 oz of water per day. I was filling up my big, fun PINK cup 4 times. And I lost weight that week. This week I was struggling to drink 48 oz per day. So I am not saying that drinking water is a magical elixir. What I am saying is that maybe when you start doing SOMETHING right, the other things all kind of want to go right as well so that you can be successful. :)

Hey Ginger--I think water with Crystal Light counts, but can you do every OTHER one with CL? And then every other one do water water? And the new big thing is adding fruit to your water or INFUSING it with flavor. The old stanby is lemon, but you can do oranges, limes, kiwi, cucumber, lavendar, strawberries, juniper...you get the idea.

So I just heard (on another forum) that drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces is the new "wisdom for weight loss" going around. Funnily enough, I read an article last week that said that drinking 8 glasses of water per day wasn't necessary, was completely arbitrary & basically was a load of bunk. That being said...what is your water guideline? What do you think...should I be drinking 20.75 8 oz glasses of water per day?

Drinking water is really helping me to control my eating. I find that the more I drink the better I feel and the less I want to eat. It is also helping me cut bak on my pop addiction.

I want to thank y'all for participating in this thread.

And Nekel - I'm glad the "Did You Know" posts were helpful to you!

*~*~*~*~*
I've mentioned it in another thread, but I'll mention it here as well. I'm deactivating my SparkPeople account (today, in fact). SP is a great, awesome website, but I've got other focuses and priorities that need my attention right now.

I want to encourage y'all to continue to drink your water.

Also, if you want to learn more benefits of drinking water, google "Benefits of Water". Perhaps y'all can even come back here and post some of your own "Did You Know" questions. :)

Also . . . water is but just one aspect of good health. Exercise is another crucial pre-requisite; as is eating healthy. I encourage y'all to go check out and participate in the eating healthy thread (in the same folder as this thread).

Y'all be blessed!

So! To help avoid headaches, drink your water!

*~*~*~*~*
*~*~* DID YOU KNOW? *~*~*~*

Water retention (swelling in the ankles fingers, etc.) is not a sign of having too much water; it's a sign of being dehydrated and the body trying to hold onto what little water it actually has. It's also a sign of toxins needing to be released from the body (which, water also helps the body release toxins).

Hey a two-for-one today!
emoticon

*~*~*~*~*
Catching up in here . . .

My water for Tuesday came to 92 ounces.

Wednesday's water was a bit low, for me - 48 ounces.

Yesterday's water was 60 ounces.

I'm hoping to get more water in today; around 90+ ounces.

*~*~*~*~*

I want to applaud all of y'all who have given up (or are in the process of giving up) sodas (both the regular and the "diet" kinds) and other drinks that contain added sugar or added sugar subs.
emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sodas, in and of themselves are one of the worst things a body can ingest.
Sweet teas and other sugared (or sugar-subbed) drinks are also in that category.

I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes; I'm wanting to encourage y'all.
emoticon

Afterall, what would be the point of losing weight if the process didn't also improve one's health?

*~*~*~*~*
When I was in my early 20's, I discovered diet sodas. I never really was a big soda drinker before that; but I sure drank my fill of diet sodas for a few years afterwards. When I was in my very early 30's I learned that aspartame is a seizure trigger (along with its ability to also create a few other damaging neurological side effects).

That was enough for me; I quit drinking diet sodas immediately. It had become personal . . . I have a seizure history; the first seizure occurring when I was around 24.

I've since learned, through various research, other ingredients in various other sugar subs are also neurologically-damaging.

I don't do the pink packets, the yellow packets nor any other type of sugar substitute. I don't even do stevia. In fact, the only kind of sugar I use is raw sugar (but that's for a different topic).

BUT! My point in this is to encourage y'all to keep drinking your water and to choose healthy living. The two definitely go hand-in-hand.

Y'all be blessed!

Lady51, I sometimes have a hard time getting in all my water. I can't stand the taste, or lack thereof, of plain water. What I do is mix Propel powder in my water. I have a 20oz cup that I fill when I get to work in the morning, again at morning break, then lunch, and sometimes afternoon break too. The packets are meant to be mixed with 16.9oz, but I don't mind the flavor being a little less sweet. There are no calories, but there is sodium (30mg), Vitamins C, E, B6, B12, and niacin, just in case you track any of those. It really helps me get the water in. I can easily get 3 in during my work day, and one more at home. I seldom drink anything else during the week. The weekend is a different story, where I usually drink diet pepsi. If you told me on January 1 that I would have consumed 80oz of water daily, and little to no soda for a whole month, I would have called you crazy. Before I started using the Propel, I was drinking 20-40oz of diet pepsi a day, and that was pretty much it. Man, I feel SO MUCH BETTER now!

@Lady51 - drinking water is a habit that you can form, and if it's a habit you're forming, remember to give your body and your mind enough time to soak it in (pun intended). When I switched from Pepsi to water (and it wasn't even diet Pepsi at the time), it took me 6 months to make the changeover complete. I let it take that long because I wanted the change to be permanent. Today, I'm lucky if I can finish a small can (250ml) of pop!

Oh, and I got in 11 glasses yesterday.

Generally speaking, I will consume between 10-14 glasses of water daily, including the weekends. How? I place a 16-oz water bottle full by my bed at night, for those night-sweaty moments when I just need cool water to cool down (usually about 1 glass), and the rest of it gets drunk in the morning, before I leave for work. I then fill up my Office Bottle (24oz) for the morning, and refill it at noon. Right there are the 8 glasses, and all before I head for home. The washroom is my second most visited place while I'm at work. :-P In the evening, I will go through another 1-2 bottles (16oz) before I go to bed, and I always try to stop liquids by 9pm, so I don't wake up before 5:30 to go pee.

LOL - I know the feeling, Sbergman!

I try to get all my water drinking for the day done by 7pm so I don't have to get up in the night.

I do take water to bed with me; and in case I want some in the middle of the night.
I also count that tumbler-full of water in my count for the following day's water.

I make sure to get 80oz in per day. My only problem is, I get to 9:00pm and realize I've got 20oz more to go, so I fill my water bottle up and down it right before bed. Then I have to pee at 3:00am! I just need to work on getting them all in a little earlier in the day :)

Studies are varied regarding the percentage of water comprising a person's brain; the range is between 77-90%

Regardless of which percentage you believe, it is a fact that the brain is largely comprised of water; which means that for good brain health, the body requires waters.

So . . .

Do your brain a favor and drink your water!

A minimum of 64 oz of water (8 eight-oz glasses) is the daily recommendation.

Also, did you know that drinking water will actually help flush away fluid retention?
