I got two hours in at the pool yesterday- one hour jogging, and a water aerobics class. I've gotten 30 minutes on my recumbent bike so far today. I want to go back to the pool for an hour, but if we have thunderstorms, I'll put in another 30 minutes on the bike.

Planet Fitness was giving a free day workout, so I took advantage and worked out over an hour emoticon

Well, I finally had my surgery May 18, 2015. I started a few challenges that includes a walking challenge so I can get myself moving again. I have made it a point of exercising, mainly walking, at least 15 minutes daily emoticon

Good for you!! The "Color Run" is coming to my town on my birthday this year in October and I want to try doing the 5K, but I don't think I can complete it. I would be walking it, for sure, but it takes me 20 min to do 1 mile, and I don't know if I can do 3. I'm working on it at the gym. You should be so proud!

I walked a 5k with my daughter Elizabeth today. Our time was 58 minutes. I wasn't quite last there were about 4 or 5 people behind me. There were a few people who I saw drop out who would have come in behind us. It was raining when we finished which is why some people dropped out. The rain cooled me off!

I'm supposed to exercise 30 minutes a day. I'm going to walk because I want to walk the yearly founders day 5k with my daughter on August 23. I did it last year but it took me 1 hour, I came in last behind a 80 year old woman. She took a break at someones house and I briefly got a lead but she passed me later. I hope to do better this year.

I am definetly up for a walking challenge! I recently finished one with a Biggest Loser Spark Team, 100 miles in 10 weeks. We all copied a template and logged our own miles on our own template. I can set one of these up if you're interested! I found it really got me motivated and focused on reaching the 100 mile goal. emoticon There was also a link to a great conversion formula to convert other activities to miles. Let's do it!!!

Hello.

I 24 day pre-op. I recently resumed my walking program after having a cast on my leg for nearly 6 months. I still managed to do weight training and chair exercise during this period but still gained 3 lbs. I am walking again but because of the prolonged period of inactivity it has been a bit difficult Back up to about 45 minutes but at a bit of a slower pace so I become winded far too easily. I am keeping at it though and ask for your encouragement as I pass through what is a frustrating time..

Earlier this month, I started with a goal of walking 1 mile each day. I decided I just need to do something. Last fall I fell while walking my dog. It was early in the morning and my work day hadn't started yet. I limped around for months, and needless to say I quit walking. After setting things up with my nutritionist, I decided to walk as far as I could until the pain gets too bad. Turns out I can do a mile walk with no pain. Yesterday I decided to bump it up to two. I rolled around most of the night in pain. It will be a month or two before it quits hurting, but it is worth it. I feel like I achieved something. I will just have to take some ibuprofen for a while. I am glad I am feeling more adventurous these days. It's nice to feel like I am making some progress. I hope you are all feeling the same. I started getting fustrated and decided to go for a walk about dusk last night. I walked for an hour!
I have a smart phone and had bought one of those arm bands, unfortunately when you have bat wings they the arm band doesnt fit well.
I cut off the arm band and used some simular material to make the the case into a lanyard kind of thing so now I can enjoy my walking music emoticon

I walked 45 minutes for the first time since my operation, I have a question about calorie intake and exercise.
I am 5' 8 tall and wiegh 233 and if I burn up 250 calories, but take in 800 calories is this a problem? Will I be going into starvation Mode? emoticon

I can now comfortably walk at a brisk pace for an hour, though I take my 2-year-old with me. As you can imagine, that often slows things down :)

She walks, too, and we bring the stroller along so she has a place to rest when she tires out.

The trick is to get both her and my husband into the habit of walking every day. Haven't gotten there yet....

My goal is to do at least 10 minutes a day, no matter what! It takes effort and commitment to make small habits turn into big ones. Little changes really do make a big difference.

I walked a little less than a mile today. Started out hurting quite a bit. I don't know why, but with a spur, the pain gets less the longer I walk. This spur is on the top; of my foot - so my shoe presses on it. I went to the fitness center after work and did strength training.

It was a beautiful day. 70 degrees!!!!!! I love the warmer weather. It's supposed to be nice again tomorrow, then colder again Friday and the weekend. We will be heading to Illinois on Friday to visit my parents and brothers. Their weather is usually a day behind ours, so I'm hoping to have today and tomorrow's weather out there on Fri. and Sat. LOL

Well I took an anti-inflammatory last night and my foot felt better, so I got a mile walk in. Now it hurts gain. No pain, no gain I guess!

I won't be winning any goodies this week for walking. The top of my left foot is swollen and painful. I think it's just old Arthur rearing his ugly head. I walked 8 blocks at noon today and limped all the way. It hurts!!! I think I'll skip the walk tomorrow and do the exercise bike.

I went to the fitness center at noon and did 20" strength training. Then after work, I went back and did 45" on the treadmill. Now my knees hurt. I think I overdid it. I usually only do 30".

I walked for 60 minutes on Monday. (twice x 30 minutes)!

I walked for 60 minutes in the pool on Tuesday. Kicked my butt!

Wednesday: nothing

Thursday: nothing :(

Friday: 45 minutes

Saturday: 30 minutes

Sunday: 30 minutes

Hey Y'all,

I'm glad to see y'all are enjoying the challenge. Any walking, or toning is good. Whatever you do, cleaning up or gardening, shopping, all of it requires muscles, and is a good thing. However, for the challenge we are only counting the minutes you spend walking.

So post them for the week or day, but try to use the same message just edit it, so I can keep up with what you are doing.

That's wonderful! I prefer walking alone, because my friends all walk much faster (they have longer legs, too). I feel like I slow them down. I try to do 30 minutes. I'm usually pretty well done by the time I get in 30 " , but then I do some toning exercises for another 20 minutes.

Good morning,

I just noticed this thread so I will add that I had a great week walking with my girlfriend. We walk anywhere from 45-90 minutes depending on how much talking we do and how long our feet will last-LOL! I think it was 60 M, T, none on W, 90 on Th plus an extra 45 with my kids, and 45 on Fri. Tomorrow I start small jogging intervals-wish me luck!

It has been a really nasty, cold rainy (almost snow) day. So back to the fitness center to the treadmill. I had a couple of "bad" days this week in food. Over 1800 calories! So yesterday and today I have really watched what I've eaten and have been under 1000 calories. The scale didn't move downward though. *SIGH* But maybe by Monday it will drop some.

Way to go Cassie! I did too! It was a beautiful day (about 50), so instead of going to the fitness center to use the treadmill, I walked outdoors. It was so nice to breathe in fresh air. It's supposed to get cold again tomorrow (ugh), but spring will be here soon. I can't wait!
