Check out Time Out Sports on Grand. Its a running store and they will give you lots of tools to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. The summer I spent walking like crazy they outfitted me with shin wraps. I wore them religiously and they made a huge difference.

Spent a summer walking like crazy. When I made the transition to running my shins hurt like crazy for a long time. Eventually it went away, but ice and ibuprofen helped. That and I eventually found a running store in Albuquerque that did gait analysis and found some shoes that help with pronation. Have finished 4 marathons and 4 half marathons.
