I didn't know until yesterday that I could do 30 push-ups; I certainly couldn't do 10 the last time I tried. I was so happy to find out that I'm stronger!

Alicia, congrats on your success! Thanks for sharing your story. It really inspired me to get back on track with my own weight loss. I have arthritis in my knees. I have gained back some weight and really struggle to exercise. I just have to work through the pain because I can't lose weight by diet alone.

I have fibromyalgia (chronic widespread pain)so my accomplishments with fitness have a huge impact on my day to day pain levels.

My walk to the bus stop used to hurt after 1 block. Now, it doesn't begin to bother me until the fourth block (which is a slight hill)

I can stand at work most days without wanting to cry.

When I first started exercising, I did a few reps of 3 lb weights and 5 mins on the elliptical.

Now, I do kinect sports boxing (virtual smash) with those same 3 lb weights in my hands. I can feel it in the muscles across my back right now! ha!

I am now on most good pain days ding 30 mins of exercise at once! I started with 2-5 mins.

My pain levels are going down as my fitness levels go up and it is amazing to me. (I have muscle atrophy, esp in my arms, from avoiding doing things because of the pain.)

My doc said, with fibro, if you don't use it you lose it!

It's so easy to forget to pat ourselves on the back for triumphs! I dropped another dress size even though I haven't lost any weight for a while. Now that I'm back on track with food and (soon) exercise, I should start seeing results on the scale again. This job loss was a big setback, but I'm happy that I didn't gain weight.

Yesterday something so simple happened that made me feel so delighted!

I was dropping off some media at the library... a DVD and book on tape that you can't drop in the outside drop box. So the library has entries on both levels and I went in the top one expected the drop to be right inside. The lady inside told me that the only media drop was on the bottom floor. The stairs at the library are a bit bigger than necessary and since they are a spiral shape more steps than necessary. So she asked if I wanted someone to take them down with them and I was like, " Nah, I'll take them down!" and I went down the stairs without a problem and I was able to run back up the stairs without losing my breath or anything. Stairs were always the vicious enemy. Even something as small as that gives me plenty of hope for the future!

Great progress, ladies! This may sound trivial, but I can now tell the difference in how I feel and how I sleep based upon whether I choose to eat fruits and veggies or whether I choose to eat cake and cookies. Where I used to resign myself to being too busy to exercise, I am now more often able to "move mountains" on the homefront and get someone to watch my four kids to make it happen. My weight loss has been slow, but what has come off . . . stays off!

Way to go PatsyAnn!

I'm floating past cloud nine. I just came home from shopping with 2 triumphs.

1) A size 16 dress! (I tried on several size 16's and they all fit but I limited myself to one because I plan to need a 14 or a 12 in the next couple of months)

2) A pair of high heels! 6 inch heels! It's been almost 7 years since I was capable of walking in high heels. An accident destroyed my leg (literally) and I amazed the doctor's by walking at all. 2 years ago, I managed to find a dress shoe with a 2 inch heel with a wide base (2 1/2 inches)and strong ankle support and I bought them. But nothing since. The ones I got today are open toed and just a strap across the ankle. The base is wide and runs the whole shoe. perfect for me!

I hate to say it, since it seems so trivial, I'm wearing clothes out in public that you wouldn't catch me in 6 months ago be cause they fit so much better now. Not only that, they look better on me now too.

I'm increasing my distance walked, the time I can endure the walk has gone up more than double since I started. I've also increased the amount of time I can ride the stationary bike at the gym by from 7 to 20 minutes! I used to take a product for my joints, for 4 years I took this stuff, and my knees still hurt, all the time but especially getting in and out of chairs or on the bike. Once I began to lose the weight, I stopped taking those pills and my knees haven't felt this good in years!

Well actually I should have wrote this yesterday. My legs are getting stronger since I've been walking 3 days a week in addition to my 3x at the gym a week. I started that when I started SparkPeople. Yesterday at the gym I was able to do more time on the bike without the usual pain in my leg/knee.

The stairs to my office are a real mini work-out. Many staff members can't get up them without panting. Today was the first day I made it upstairs and down the hall to my office without panting. (And I did it twice!) emoticon

Not necessarily something specific I couldn't do, but the last few days I just seem to have more energy. I am able to get in all my housework with a little energy left over, when usually I have to struggle to get through.

It's just a very simple stationary bike that I found on sale at walmart, but it tracks the distance, speed, pulse, calories and time and has several resistance levels, so I'm happy with it :) I have a really hard time finding time to get out and bike outside between kids and such, so already it has paid off!! Now I can get my cardio in without leaving the house emoticon

I was able to do 20 minutes straight on my new stationary bike today!!! Yes, it's new so I have no real basis for comparison, but I'm usually struggling to get 10 mins of cardio in one shot... so I'm sure that's an improvement! Plus I burned more calories than my goal for the day for the first time ever! emoticon

I remember when I first started i could go very long on the treadmill at all, however now I train on an interval setting which is run 2 minutes and fast walk for 2 for 30- 45 minutes , then i top it off with another 30 minutes on the elliptical using the different settings on the machine as well and at times will yet top that off with 90 minutes on the bike or something, this is if i am only doing cardio for the day, if i incorporate the weight machine I am increasing my in my sets, so starting lets say 20 lbs, then 25, and finish with a 30.
It has seams to work great for me so far. This is a huge accomplishment from where i started.

Since beginning my exercise program last month, I have upped my weights ten pounds already! I realized I was getting too strong to do the lower weight. Also, I can now do 30 minutes on the elliptical machine! Wowee to that for me. I have no trouble doing 40 or so on the treadmill, but I have always avoided the elliptical, because it's so much harder. lol Well, no more avoiding it, because I started to only use the elliptical. That's big for me!

I am 5'8" with an athletic build and working hard to make the best of it!

Awesome! I was feeling so great, I was tempted to run last night just for a few seconds, but reined it in. Haha. I'm in an upstairs apartment and that would have been overly rude. Good luck. :)

I've been doing intervals on the treadmill - Fast walking for 5 minutes, full-out run for 2 minutes, fast walking for five, etc.. Usually when I get to the end of my 2 minute run I am winded and it takes several minutes during the fast walk interval to catch my breath. Today I wasn't winded at the end of the run and I am going to try to add a minute to the run intervals tomorrow. I love seeing progress like this! emoticon

What can you do today that you couldn't do yesterday or last week? Lifted more weight? Ran faster? Longer?

Me, I just worked out on the treadmill my full thirty minutes without 'taking a break'. Haha. I've gotten so bad. :P
