First things first, I want to apologize for not getting this week’s challenge posted before now. I have been fighting a head cold and sinus infection all week so haven’t even been on the computer. Second, I am withdrawing for the month of November. This cold has started moving into my chest, which means I won’t really be able to exercise much and I don’t want my team to suffer for it. I will stay on as the captain of the Broccoli and support them in whatever way I can. :)

This week’s challenge will run from Sunday, November 6th, through Saturday, November 12th. Please be sure all of your points are posted no later than the end of the day on Monday from Week 1 so they can be tallied. Here is your challenge for Week 2:

Cardio – We’re going to keep pushing our cardio as much as we can. For every 20 minutes of deliberate cardio you complete each day, you will earn 50 points. If you’re getting bored with your cardio, try something new to change it up. Pick up a new workout dvd at your local library, try one of the SP videos, or get outdoors and do some yardwork in the cool autumn air. There are many ways to burn calories without even realizing you’re doing it. You are required to complete at least 20 minutes of cardio 4 days a week so be sure you at least get that much in. All cardio must be posted on your SP Fitness Tracker in order to be counted.

Strength Training – This seems to be the one area where many of us struggle the most. For each day that you complete at least 30 reps of 5 different strength training exercises you will earn 100 points. Since we’re all at different levels with our strength training, you can get the 30 reps in through whatever increments you like, whether it’s 2 sets of 15, 1 set of 30, or something totally different. As long as it’s at least 30 reps of 5 different exercises, you’re good to go. And you’re minimum for this is 3 days each week. All ST must be posted on your SP Fitness Tracker in order to be counted.

Food – This week’s food tracking is going to be tracking your snacks. Many people don’t realize that snacking is key to boosting your metabolism. In theory, you should eat 3 meals and 2 snacks each day. For every day that you log 2 snacks, preferably healthy ones, you will earn 100 points. Keep in mind that taking part of your lunch and posting it as a snack doesn’t count – it should be obvious that it is a snack rather than a meal.

Blogging and Extra Goal – As always, you are all responsible for posting a Weekly Update Blog on either Friday or Saturday. Your Weekly Update Blog should touch on your goals for the month and how you have fared throughout the week. This blog will either earn you 100 points or cost you 100 points. Failure to post 2 of the required blogs in a month results in immediate elimination so don’t forget to get these done. Our extra goal this week will go back to something we tried out last month. For each day that you take a motivational quote from SP and reflect on it in a blog you will earn 50 points. We are doing this one again because it actually seemed to help many of you last month to get thinking about how you were hindering your own weightloss, which is what we want to continue working on.
