Last year, 2013, my goals were to lose weight and to declutter my house. I didn't do so well on the decluttering. I put a lot of effort into it but kept backsliding so the net effect is no improvement or maybe even worse than I started.

Weight loss has been more successful though. I joined a "biggest loser" type challenge for six weeks and came in second place. I learned a few tips from that experience that worked for me from that which I still follow. I started researching health issues that I was having and soon I started planning meals around vegetables instead of meat and I drank water first thing in the morning.

And toward the end of the year I started cutting down on processed foods and that has helped immensely in the amount of energy I have which made me more optimistic about decluttering my place again. With more consistent energy day to day I felt more hopeful that this is the year (2014) that I'll finally declutter my house.

So my goal for 2014 is to declutter my house. I also want to lose weight but I have decided I will work on one goal at a time. This is the first year I've prioritized decluttering ahead of weight loss. I hope this is the year I'll finally succeed in decluttering.

Not so good on the weight loss---actually gained---but with a wedding in January, my mom's stroke in February and then having her live with us for several months---then I tore my menincus in June and had to do a lot of PT to get it back to working order---then not a good start to the school year with a class from horrid place. But I will persevere in this for the coming year. I will say I have been doing pretty with my clutter control---not perfect---but I am a lot better at getting rid of stuff.

Post how you did this year (2013) and what your goals are for 2014.
