Things always take longer to get through than I estimate, and by then I've taken too much out. Then it lies around until I get to it again. Ugh.

I fail when I take on too much. I have found that working with smaller piles, smaller chucks of time, etc. work better for me. I don't if I start to feel overwhelmed emoticon or that my attention span waiver's emoticon

I do that too. Even here on SP I will say "I want to lose 10 pounds this month." When I should just say "I want to lose 2 pounds this week". Something smaller that would be easier to achieve.

This year is all about me and my quest to unload this extra person I have been hauling around.

When I am tackling a room I look at the focal point first. For example, the bed in a bedroom, my desk in my office, the table in the diningroom, the sink in my kitchen. That gets done first. Then a break for some juice and the room doesn't look so bad when I return, it is motivating when I return. I work clockwise around the room ignoring closets. Closets are always last. I treat the closets as their own room.

Think of a set of stair steps (draw it out!). On each step write a goal. For each goal make another sheet of paper with a set of stair steps. If needed, do another sheet of stairs for any of those goals.

Clear clutter out of Family Room
Reorganize and clear out kitchen

How will those 2 goals be reached? Smaller steps!

Refrigerator-
Take out all items
Throw away old stuff
Soak containers in hot soapy water
Wash out drawers
Wipe out all flat surfaces fridge and edges
Replace drawers
Put in a new box of baking soda
(Keep in mind some people organize inside the fridge)

Get clear containers or label baskets to group items:
Condiments
Salad dresssings
Nut butters & Jams
(This makes it a little to get things out and put them away)

Pantry (or food cabinets) -

You can put dates on your stair steps as to when you will do itt. If you start a stair step, you need to have time to finish it. If all you had time to do is put salad dressings in a container that day, so be it. 1 step of many was done and just as 15 minutes a day is 1 hr 45 min at the end of the week, each stair step is a step closer to goal. Hope it helps!

I think because the task is overwhelming, instead of breaking it down into smaller goals it just gets put off because of the size of the task. Now a word about procrastinating.... emoticon

before you know it all good intentions go astray!

Remember the journey will take time and does not happen without love and support and belief in yourself! And a little help from my SP friends!

I think big goals are fine, as long as they are broken down into achievable steps along the way.

It's is very easy to fail when you set unrealistic goals. Yes I agree goals should be attainable. I have that problem thinking big, and most of the time I don't achieve it. I was always told if there's a will there's always a way.

I agree with goals that puts too much of a demand on you can actually slow you down. I have learned that through experience so now I make my goals smaller, then when I finish, I can go unto another small one. Hope this helps..

Sometimes an unrealistic schedule stops people from meeting their goals. Trying to do too much of it at one time. Maybe try breaking it down into smaller pieces/tasks you can work toward every day.

Goals is like being on a merry go round that stops & goes because it is stuck in a gear never completing the cycle. A price must be paid for meeting our goals, sweat, time & sacrifice. There are times I meet a partial then the other three fourths I do not. I am stuck in gear & cannot make full circle.to completely finish them, I have not figured out why unless if I do in my thinking I am afraid of falling back again & never getting back up.
