I've been doing 10 minutes of exercise per day for 32 days. I'm so proud of that, especially since some days I've done even more than the "required" 10! My long-term goal is to do "Just 10 minutes" for 100 days, which I'll reach more or less on April 1, 2016. I'll be moving during that time so it may be tricky to keep going, but I've learned that I feel much better when I get my exercise done early in the morning so I'm going to keep doing that. Thanks for the help getting started. This was a great challenge!

You are doing a great job and you are doing what most do. Taking it easy and working up is a great way to go.

Make it fun helps as well

I started Sparking the 1st week of August, 2015 and have been here every day since then. The first day I took a 5 minute walk twice during the day. It's about all I could do. I have been gradually increasing my active minutes since then. I have only broken my streak a couple of days when I was traveling.

In September I got a Fitbit for my birthday. I was walking about 2-3,000 steps a day. I just increased my goal from 6,500 to 7,000 but lots of days I go over my goal. My long term goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day for 5 or 6 days a week. In addition, I have been doing some strength training 2 or 3 times a week and also some Spark videos for strength and low impact cardio.

I would like to make it a long term goal that I do strengthening exercises for 10 to 15 minutes a day at least 3 times a week and increase that time to 30 minutes, if not all at once, in 10 or 15 minute increments.

I am 68 and was very overweight, needing to lose almost 70 pounds. I have lost almost 30 since I started and it is getting easier and easier each week. Doing these 10 minutes of exercise several times a day is so much easier for me than working out for an hour at a time.

I am hoping to get a treadmill to use this winter when walking outside becomes more difficult. Now, if it is rainy out, I walk laps on my front porch for 10-20 minutes at a time. I can't believe this is week 4 already and how much easier it is becoming.

I have confidence that exercise is now part of my life. It has helped my medical problems to no end and I feel great. I don't plan on going back to being a couch potato...... EVER!
