I have found the stress journal very enlightening. I learned that I stress about all sorts of little things throughout the day, some I can control and some I can't. My goals for the challenge:
1. Focus on the things I can control and not stress over the things I can't
2. Don't let myself get to the point of being so overwhelmed that I simply shut down and ignore the duties around me.
3. Don't procrastinate. I get more stressed as a deadline approaches -- not worth the "free time" I used.
4. Worry less about letting other people down and simply focus on being the healthiest, most serene I can be.

My stress Is my husbands new job or if it is a job lol we don`t even know. We are waiting for a phone call for when he starts his first day the company keeps saying some forms haven`t come in yet and its been over a week since he has had his interview, test, and orientation.
My goal for this is to just pray and have some patients....
Not worry! It will all work out the way it should...

I think the thing for me is that I stopped worrying about what my friends were doing and started worrying about myself. With doing that I learned to relax more and even though I'm not completely relaxed it's a great first step.

My goals so far...

1. Stop worrying about stuff out of my control
2. Take more "me" time, even if that means leaving the apartment
3. Make a post-graduation timeline/plan to ease that stress up

Recently, I found my love for exercising again. I found that it really helped my stress levels. However, I recently hurt one of legs. So, I am here to learn new ways to de-stress my life, so I can sleep better. Exercise regularly, once my recent leg injury heals. Play/walk my dog daily.

My goals are to meditate daily, work on my novel each day, and refuse to get involved in other people's drama until my own is settled. I think these three things will seriously help me lay low a while.

The stress in my life right now leads up to my husband and I have been out of work for over 3 years We have a 2 year old daughter... My husband has recently went to school for truck driving and heavy equipment, he has finally been recruited with a trucking company :)
he had an orientation with them and then they asked him to come this last monday and we thought great he will be starting, but now the truck company has to wait for his abstract to get in before they can give him any time, then our car has broken down :( but it will be in a shop tomorrow... I really want to be a stay at home mom right now, but i guess the world has to run on 2 incomes now a days, and i don`t have my license in we live out in the country right now so i can`t even get a job with out some long term changes... If people could please pray that my husband gets this job and keeps it and that it can all work out for the best....
Thanks and God Bless...

This is day 7, so its time to take an assessment. As I suspected when I began, most of the stress in my life is self-induced by my own tendency to procrastinate. There are other stressors: while I love the work I do, I loathe my job. It's hard to get up and start the day when the work environment is so toxic.

I have really been trying to focus on me, however, and not the others. Me, I can do something about. I have been a lot less stressed this year than last for that reason. My New Year's resolution was to take back my home life. After all, if my efforts at work are not going to be appreciated, there is no reason to kill myself over "going the extra mile." What a difference!

So, now, if I could tackle this procrastination thing that affects home more than work - deadlines can be a great motivator - I think I could eliminate unusual stress altogether. There is always going to be some events that produce stress no matter how much yoga or whatever you do.

Right before starting this challenge, I created a couple of "Other" trackers to take advantage of my competitive nature to deal with this issue. So far, the success is nothing to write home about, but I had a good weekend and I am hoping I can capitalize on that to keep the momentum going.

It can be done...the Engineer's Credo

I've been working a super stressful job for 5 years. Since coming to SP.. It has come down quite a bit. I've been finding ways to de stress myself so I can get the full 8 hours of sleep again like I use to before. Exercise is the best stress relief there is for me and now I am incorperating it into my sit down job with 3lb dumbells. I am always working on finding other ways to keep the stress levels down.

I have a new job (same company) that is the most stressful job I've ever had! But challenging, and it's making me grow, so I want to manage the stress. I walk my dog every morning before work - although it's a short, 25 minute walk, it still gets me out in the fresh air and starts the day with movement. I commute several times a week by bus and try to read only uplifting, entertaining books. Right now I'm reading The Secret Garden, which I somehow missed in my childhood! I love it. I often fall asleep reciting the Rosary; I'm a lapsed Catholic but the peaceful, repetitious prayer calms me and obviously speaks to something deep inside me. My goal is to continue these calm-inducing practices but to find more ways to calm myself throughout the day.

That sounds like an awesome thing to do each day. I think I want to start meditating and praying for at least 10 minutes a day. I need the time to de-stress after work when I go home.

My goal for this week is to try and follow the challenge and keep a journal. I have so many crazy things going on (pneumonia, an old dear friend just committed suicide and my uncle is in critical condition... no big stressors, right?)
this challenge will help me keep my focus and take each thing as it comes and work through it. This came at the perfect time for me.

You can't have results and excuses at the same time!

My goals for this week are to
write in my journal, take time to breathe when I feel the stress taking over, make time for daily meditation.
I took a step in the right direction yesterday. Sat in a meeting all day then it took me 3 hours to get home when it should have taken 1.5 hours. I just turned the radio up, dealt with the traffic without stressing about it, then got on my wii when I got home and did 25 min on that, 30 min of yoga, and 17 min of meditation. Also instead of sitting for a full hour during the lunch break I took a 15 min walk. Normally I would have been stressing completely, pulled off the highway and hit the closest fast food restaurant. Yesterday's solution felt so much better!

I am finding out that now that I am in a gym schedule, it helps tremendously with my stress levels. Anything during the day just releases while I am working out as well as working out any aggression I have. When I get home, I can enjoy my time with my husband instead of create a negative attitude by discussing all of my stress and reliving it when I get home.

So I wrote my goals down on the planner & my Ipad. I wrote the step by step. today is my daughter's 13th b-day and I normally make things special for her day & later have a party, well not every year, but this year. I let my other project overwhelm me that I did not set a date for her birthday and now I feel the month will me over in no time. Scouting opportunities are presenting themselves for my HS & son that I want them experience. We have a party for St. Patrick's Day. I have curtains to complete by Friday. So much, and last night I was up not doing a thing, just zoning out. Today I thought I would be excited, but I am overwhelmed. Then I thought to do something special for her room, since I still have to complete decorating her room. So much incomplete in my home because I feel overwhelmed.

I am venting and will go jog for a few minutes and think this through. I haven't done any cardio and I ignore my exercising because I feel overwhelmed. Self-sabatoge is around the corner.

I don't want to let things happen on their own. I want to have a plan. Later for update.
Tori

I Pledge to forgive myself for the past & keep going no matter how many times I fall. I have the strength and self discipline. I will give my challenges to the Lord. I WILL HAVE A FRESH START EVERY DAY!!

Just joined Spark & this Group, so my initial goal is to follow-through with it.

I have a pretty good idea of what my stressors are, but have never considered writing them down. Would like to accomplish this.

Being a smoker, nail biter, stress eater, etc., generally anxious person, another goal is to replace these coping mechanisms with healthier ones. Exercising, drawing, reading, and meditation, are all places for me to start. Exercising has become a daily routine, but it is my goal to incorporate each of the listed items into my day as well.

The beach and water is soothing for me as well - with Spring coming, and some nice weather, it is my goal to go to/walk around some body of water atleast once a week.

Until I comprise my journal, I am leary to set any other goals so I fear that is it for now . . . .

My goal is to write my projects on our dry eraser board. Write a due date for each step of the project. Journal my emotions per blog or other means.

If I feel anxious @ home, I will do 10 jumping jacks to counter act my feelings & figure out my next step for the project at hand.

This week, save time and gas and exercise @ home, Nicole's boot camp, rowing, jogging, kettlebells, etc...

By the end of this week, curtains for master bedroom french door will be complete ready to hang on Friday or Saturday!!

I Pledge to forgive myself for the past & keep going no matter how many times I fall. I have the strength and self discipline. I will give my challenges to the Lord. I WILL HAVE A FRESH START EVERY DAY!!

I just finished my stress journal. I've found that I'm already less stressed than I used to me because of the consistent exercise I do. However, I do want to work on the people I chose to spend time with, and how they can affect my stress level. I need to remember the value in friendships comes in quality, not quanitity, and not stress out over silly, petty items that bring me no good. My goals for this month are to become more confident in my own choices, and care more about the health of myself and what is important to me, and focus on people that bring me up rather than drag me down.
