Karen...
I like the idea of making up my own special events to lose the weight for!! Win-Win. I will be motivated to lose the weight and get the more adventurous life I've been dreaming of at the same time!

emoticon Now, why didn't I think of that myself? Plus, like EB stated: I will still be doing it for the best reason which is "myself".

dee great to see you my love emoticon like you i am often motivated to loose weight for an event.i remember when i married lotfi we had an islamic wedding and then the registry office with a big celerbration afterwards and in the two months between the two i lost 40lbs but to be honest that was mainly due to the amount of exercise i was doing.i tend to be more for exercise than for eating less, lol,if that works best for you you could always make up little events for you to work up too.i,e a kino or theater or musical date.you can buy the tickt say 6 weeks in advance.or use the colledge breaks when your son comes home to visit as a soecial event say you want to loose say 5 or 10lbs when he next comes.the main thing you make the goal a realistic one.also entering the challanges on this or other teams can be a help.i always find challanges a help as it makes me more accountable.i seem better when i am holding myself accountable to other people than when it is just to myself.i know this shouldn´t be the case but that is how it is,i feel guilty if i feel i am letting other people down than if i was just letting myself down.maybe this is something i should be looking into .anyone else the same.

I've always been motivated by a special event. I lost weight for my 25th wedding anniversary and again for my son's high school graduation.

When the event is over, I go back to my old habits and put that weight back on.

Starting today... I want to lose weight for my health. I want to lead an adventurous life and I need to be in shape to do it. My mother has Alzheimer's and I'm hoping to defeat the disease in my lifetime.

I'm motivated today! Thanks for the challenge, ladies! That always helps!

I've challenged myself to a "No Sugar" week! Should be interesting as that is my "go-to" food if my emotions need "help!" I'll be doing a lot of blogging this week.

I started off the morning and the week with a bang! Had a great breakfast with a friend, then we went for a 45 minute walk outside and even tried my feet at jogging for a couple of seconds (yes, seconds - maybe 30)! LOL!

Running is what I want to be able to work my way up to, but I have a "lazy" leg. I had a blood clot in it about 10 years ago and ever since then it doesn't work as well as the other leg. It has a tendency to want to drag if I'm not careful! The first time I started jogging today, I almost had a panic attach because I was so afraid my leg would not cooperate. But it did! WooHoo! The second time I tried it, wasn't as "nerve wracking!"

I'm gonna keep working on it a little at a time until I can jog at least a mile! Yes! Me jogging!!!

meg, beverly you are both not on your own there,i too have moments of not being motivated more than i care to mention which is why i think this team is great and i hope will be a good reason to get motivated,by inspiring others to get motivated we motivate ourselfs as after all we have to practice what we preach.my biggest motivation used to be the feeling i get after exercising, you can´t beat it in my book.as i am not exercising at the moment i am finding it hard to get or keep motivated.as i said in an earlier post i am trying to concentrate on the things i have already achieved and how far i have come than magnifying the things i haven´t manage to do.because that is what happenes the thing we haven´t done or still have to do can sometimes get so magnified out of proportion that they seem unatainable,we start to believe that we can´t do it then loose our motivation and we then don´t achieve it,we have to remember that nothing is unatainable when we put our minds to it.it might not be attainable here and now but at some time it is.set yourself smaller goals, make sure they are realistic and not doomed to failure in the start, use any tool that is available,do it in small steps.i find possitive affirmations help me alot,i look in the mirror and think of three possitive things i can say to myself.they don´t have to be new ones everysday, the same three each day wuill also do it.take baby steps, get motivation where you can either from spark people, family or friends, from a book,a movie, whatever.most of all it has to come from you.genia has given some very good tips, you have to know you are not on your own we are all here for each over.you can do this,i can do this,we can do this, and we will do this together.come on everybody let that fit girl inside you shine through.

meg joining in with our fit girl summer challange which will be starting on monday might also help you with the motivation.it will also be fun, fun, fun.

EB- you came to the right place for motivation... I understand how it feels to be 'stuck in a rut"

What does motivate you??? why did you start losing weight in the first place? what was your ultimate goal, emotionally, that started you in this process?

Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you are worth it, and no matter what my body says I am going to over-ride it and do what my body needs to do. I have done that so many times. I have told my body to knock it off, get off your butt, and go exercise. I do talk to myself quite a bit (no one hears me most of the time though...LOL)

the answer to your question "Ah, who cares?" say out loud "I do, I care about myself".

here's a FitGirl Woohoo to you for stepping out and letting us know that you are lacking motivation. you will get a lot of encouragement here.

I'm really struggling with motivation right now. It's so easy to just say "Ah, who cares!" I need to re-think my plan and motivation!

one of my ways to get motivated is to look back and see how far i have already come.sometimes we can get so bogged down with how much we still have to go that it can be more detrimental and off putting but by looking back to see what you have already achieved and concentrating more on that i find more motivating.
