What is my profile name ?
It is PRAIRIECROCUS.

what is your real name?
My real name is Bev.

How did I get my profile name ?
I originally wanted to use DUSTYROSE, but when I was applying to begin with SparkPeople,
I was advised that someone is already using that name. I immediately grabbed onto the
name PRAIRIECROCUS, since that flower is the floral emblem for Manitoba, the province
in which I live !

Tell us a little bit about yourself ?
I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where I now reside. I went out West to Alberta, Canada,
after graduating from Engineering. ( the floral emblem of Alberta is the prairie rose.)
It was when I was working in Edmonton, Alberta, that I was diagnosed with M.S.
I am thankful that the M.S. that I have, has never been painful.

How long have I been with SparkPeople ?
I joined SparkPeople on April 9, 2009, almost four years ago.My friend, who is a member
of SparkPeople, highly recommended SparkPeople, and said that I should join !

What are my favorite features on SparkPeople ?
I really like using the Nutrition Tracker, and the Fitness Tracker !
Using these, one can really keep track of what is going on !
I love the interactions that occur on all the Teams ! I find that all my Spark-friends are
caring, helpful and nice !

How many times had I tried to lose weight, before SparkPeople ?
I can recall two times, where I lost some weight, and then quickly regained.
I am still in the initial stages of my weight loss journey.
Right now, it is my Dr. that insists that I lose weight !

what is your most memorial NSV(none scale victories)?
My most memorable NSV is being able to swim for two hours. Now, I feel, I can call
myself a swimmer !

What is a typical day's Meal Plan for me now, and how does it differ from before ?
Every day starts with a Breakfast. My usual breakfast is a bowl of cereal, with 1% milk,
and fruit, and black coffee.On my swim days, I have a protein smoothie, made with
whey protein, fruits and vegetables, cinnamon, and ground flaxseeds.
A good snack, after my swim, is a natural peanut butter sandwich, on whole grain
bread, with blueberries, or banana slices, inside. Chocolate milk is great, to wash
it down ! Lunch is often a frozen entree, with a side salad.
I've recently added fresh avocadoes to my snack choices. I've always enjoyed eating
fruits and vegetables, and am fortunate not to have any food allergies.
My typical Dinner starts with a small salad, with dressing.Grilled Chicken Breast, with
Steamed Broccoli is one of my favorite Dinners. We always have a Dessert of yogurt,
with lots of grapes sliced in. My Dr. said that I should cut out Dessert, if I want to lose
weight, but, my friend and I don't want to give up our somewhat healthy Dessert !
My Menus do not differ much, from before. The main difference is that I have cut down,
significantly, on my chip consumption, and soft drinks. I don't miss the soft drinks, at all.
I think that I am doing well, in my avoidance of potato chips, taco chips, and the like.
I believe that I will have to try harder, to reduce my ice cream treat consumption !

What is my favorite healthy food ?
Yogurt with grapes sliced in ; raw avocado, put into a salad.

What is a typical week's Workout Plan for me ?
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I swim for two hours.
First thing in the morning, I do my M.S. stretching exercises, which include bridges,
crunches and lunges. I do the alternating biceps curls, with 2 pound weights.
And then, I take the plunge, into the pool.
After Dinner, my friends and I go for a walk !
I can honestly say, that I have never been as physically active, as I am now !
Yay, SparkPeople !

What is my favorite exercise ?
Swimming !

How are you and/or your life different now, compared to before my fit/healthy life
journey ?
As stated before, I have never been as consistently active, as I am, now !

What advice would you give to other Sparkers that are either new on this journey,
or who may be struggling ?
Enjoy the whole SparkPeople experience ! Conscientiously track all your exercise,
and food ! Take part in your Team's activities, and communicate on the various
threads. Give yourself Spark-goodies, when you have reached a goal. "Talk" to
your Team-mates. Try out the SparkCoach program. Read members blogs, to
get ideas, and encouragement. Give ideas, and encouragement, whenever you can.
And, above all, don't give up ! Keep on trying ; eventually, you WILL succeed !
