Jesus said, Love one another as I have loved you.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned (Psa 34:1819, 22).

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

My goal is 16,000 or more steps per day.

12/09: 28,085
12/10: 28,228
12/11: 29,102
12/12: 29,127
12/13: 35,430
12/14: 29,044
12/15: 27,600

Total -- 206,616 -- this must be the most steps per week I have had, and I need to cut back due to lots of aches and pains. I'll still be walking and exercising, just cutting back.

I am going to decrease my daily goal to 20,000 steps per day and my weekly goal to 140,000. I have been unable to consistently reach 25,000 steps so I need to lower expectations. I am not giving up, just re-adjusting. My goal is to continue keeping my Active Minutes above 150 minutes per day. I will also be tracking my mileage with my goal to walk 10 miles per day. I will also be tracking my floors climbed but as I don't really encounter many floors in my travels I will be interested in seeing how high I can get this number on a daily basis. Keep moving people, I know I will! DON'T GIVE UP!!!

IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED THAT OUR MEMBERS WHO JOIN THIS THREAD USE THE EDIT FEATURE ON THEIR INITIAL ENTRY.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
DOING SO WILL KEEP THIS THREAD MANAGEABLE AND ALSO MAKE IT EASIER TO TRACK EACH MEMBER'S DAILY PROGRESS.

An easy way to find your initial entry is to hold down the CTRL key and your F key. This will bring up your FIND box. Enter your SparkName and hit enter. This will take you to your first entry. Click on the EDIT MY POST button and add your steps for that day. Then just click on the POST MESSAGE button and you have edited your entry! (For those using an Apple computer, hold down the COMMAND key and your F key for the FIND box.) If you have any questions/comments please send me a SparkMail. emoticon again!

A BIG THANKS TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE BEEN USING THE EDIT BUTTON WHEN YOU POST!!!

I continue to be very impressed by your daily steps! emoticon

I love all the activity on this thread! Welcome to each and every one of you and I hope that you accomplish your goals this week. I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE A BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO JOINED THIS THREAD THIS PAST WEEK! We were a steady 32 strong this past week! That is two less than last week. I continue to be amazed at your step counts, all of you should be very proud of yourselves! emoticon emoticon emoticon

We are still #1 in the Computer & Electronics category?! That continues to be amazing! As of the posting of this post, we are now at (drum roll please!) 126,118 members strong! That is 130 more than last week! Compared to last week's membership increase, that is 40 less new members. We have pushed through the 126,000 barrier and are making our way to the 127,000 level. I find that simply amazing!
emoticon Holy moley!

I was recently playing with the FitBit App for Windows and clicked on the floors portion of the app. There I found a link that offering more information on how this data was calculated. The page is called "How does my FitBit device calculate my daily activity?" and it is a wealth of new information regarding how the various data items are calculated and collected. I was familiar with some of the information but the description of how it is used to calculate your personal data was fascinating. This is a recommended quick read. (And, careful, don't fall down any "rabbit holes" while there!) Here is the link for the page:

emoticon Welcome to all of our new team members and thank you for joining our weekly steps goal!!!

I love my Ionic watch. This past week my Ionic watch's step count was 6,370more steps than my One or 4.0% difference! That is a very close comparison. I continue to compare the data and the steps, distance, active time, floors, and distance are relatively the same. The calories are very different and I think that is more due to the heart rate device on my Ionic miscalculating my calories burned. I tend to trust my One's calorie calculations much more. emoticon

I still continue to lose more weight. I attribute my recent weight loss to a change I made in my eating habits. I love to eat and I never seem to get full. I have to make a very conscious effort to monitor my calories on a daily basis. I begin my day with a light breakfast, some milk and some type of egg sandwich. At work, I don't eat during my breaks, instead choosing to use this time for walks inside our building. I listen to podcasts or music and use my phone to catch up on emails, read, and play games. I find this is very helpful in achieving my daily step goals since I stopped attending the gym (Due to a recent lifestyle change). I drink 6-9 cups of water during the day and eat my "lunch" in the evening. I will have a small dinner later in the evening. I have been also trying to get to bed earlier so this change has definitely helped, too. All of this has resulted in a noticeable drop in my daily calories and my relationship with food. I have literally cut close to 1,000 calories on a daily basis (and sometimes have to push myself to hit 2,000 calories! This is a good change and one not certainly for everybody (or anybody in fact) but it appears to be working for me.
UPDATE: I continue with following this radical plan and it continues to work for me as I am losing more weight. I have dropped 34 pounds in the last eight months! Also, I have done some further research into this new lifestyle of mine and think my method can be classified as fasting. Now I am not starving myself, I am merely choosing to stay away from food for a certain period of time. I am still getting all of my necessary nutrition on a daily basis. I am really loving this lifestyle.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE
I am truly amazed at how this change in eating habits has positively affected me. I have plenty of energy, find myself sometimes "forcing" myself to eat, and getting much more sleep. While my initial foray into the healthy living world back in 2009 was life-changing, this intermittent fasting lifestyle has been life and mind-altering.

Even though Thanksgiving has passed, this advice continues to apply! Holidays use to send shivers down my spine many years ago but I have learned that it is only one day and no matter what takes place on that day, you need to get back on track the very next day and PUSH FORWARD. Even so, I find it best to go into the day with a plan. Get some early morning exercise done, have a filling breakfast, drink plenty of water, and enjoy the day. I love to sample a little of everything and then take "seconds" of those special items! I hope all of you have a wonderful upcoming holidays and for those outside of the U.S. have some wonderful weeks and remember to all of you, KEEP MOVING! emoticon

Here are some articles that talk about various strategies for dealing with the upcoming holidays. Enjoy!
