Just joined today. I see the goal runs through 1/12/19. My goal is 32,000 steps for the remainder of the goal week. My Fitbit Charger 2 is recording data but stopped syncing the data to SP. I will have to find out why.

Jesus said, Love one another as I have loved you.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned (Psa 34:1819, 22).

OK, I'm new here and I will try to follow along according to directions! emoticon

I have some hip pain issues that I am working to alleviate with physical therapy, but in the meantime my step count goal will be on the low end, comparatively speaking, at least for the time being. Daily goal: 6,000.

1/6 - 7290
1/7 - 7226
1/8 - 7142
1/9 - 8216 (starting to think I aimed too low!)
1/10 - 7202
1/11 - 7038
1/12 - 4988

Doing the math, I got an average of 7,015 steps per day. emoticon

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

My goal is 16,000 steps or more per day this week. Actually trying to cut back a little this year -- overdid things last year for sure. Not easy on my aging body. LOL

I think I have achieved the "sweet spot" with regards to my daily goal. 20,000 steps per day or a weekly goal of 140,000 appears to be the numbers I need to achieve. Coming to this conclusion has been a part of my lifestyle change journey that I embarked back in 2009. I continue to re-adjust my goals as necessary. My goal is to continue keeping my Active Minutes above 120 minutes per day. I will also be tracking my mileage with my goal to walk 10 miles per day. I will also be tracking my floors climbed but as I don't really encounter many floors in my travels I will be interested in seeing how high I can get this number on a daily basis. Keep moving people, I know I will! DON'T GIVE UP!!!

DOING SO WILL KEEP THIS THREAD MANAGEABLE AND ALSO MAKE IT EASIER TO TRACK EACH MEMBER'S DAILY PROGRESS.

An easy way to find your initial entry is to hold down the CTRL key and your F key. This will bring up your FIND box. Enter your SparkName and hit enter. This will take you to your first entry. Click on the EDIT MY POST button and add your steps for that day. Then just click on the POST MESSAGE button and you have edited your entry! (For those using an Apple computer, hold down the COMMAND key and your F key for the FIND box.) If you have any questions/comments please send me a SparkMail.

A BIG THANKS TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE BEEN USING THE EDIT BUTTON WHEN YOU POST!!!

I continue to be very impressed by your daily steps! emoticon

I love all the activity on this thread! Welcome to each and every one of you and I hope that you accomplish your goals this week. I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE A BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO JOINED THIS THREAD THIS PAST WEEK! We were an unexpected but amazing 36 strong this past week! That is six more than last week. I continue to be amazed at your step counts, all of you should be very proud of yourselves! emoticon emoticon emoticon

We are still #1 in the Computer & Electronics category?! That continues to be amazing! As of the posting of this post, we are now at (drum roll please!) 127,111 members strong! That is 481 more than last week! Compared to last week's membership increase, that is 177 more new members. Thanks to the annual Xmas membership increase out numbers have jumped dramatically and we have now reaches the 127,000 level and are marching towards the 128,000 level. That continues to be simply amazing!
emoticon Holy moley!

I was recently playing with the FitBit App for Windows and clicked on the floors portion of the app. There I found a link that offering more information on how this data was calculated. The page is called "How does my FitBit device calculate my daily activity?" and it is a wealth of new information regarding how the various data items are calculated and collected. I was familiar with some of the information but the description of how it is used to calculate your personal data was fascinating. This is a recommended quick read. (And, careful, don't fall down any "rabbit holes" while there!) Here is the link for the page:

emoticon Welcome to all of our new team members and thank you for joining our weekly steps goal!!!

I love my Ionic watch. This past week my Ionic watch's step count was 5,049 more steps than my One or 3.4% difference! That is a very close comparison. I continue to compare the data and the steps, distance, active time, floors, and distance are relatively the same. The calories are very different and I think that is more due to the heart rate device on my Ionic miscalculating my calories burned. I tend to trust my One's calorie calculations much more. emoticon

I recently received an invite to join a FitBit Beta group for a new sleep score function that is being tested by FitBit. Those users who own a Charge 3, Versa, or Ionic (those watches that track heart rate 24/7) were extended an invitation. Unfortunately, the Beta group is closed to new members as it has reached its quota. Did you accept your invitation? I did. The big takeaway so far is that certain features of my nightly sleep are now being given numerical values which are then compared to averages of comparable value and produce a numerical value typical to normal grade school grading, i.e., A=Excellent, B=Good, C=Average, and D=Poor. You also take a short survey where you are asked certain questions about your previous night's bedtime routine and have an opportunity to insert a comment. I find this comment aspect helpful as I am able to write down why my previous evening's sleep was amazing or poor. I hope that the good people at FitBit will add this feature permanently as it is another puzzle piece in understanding ME!

I still continue to lose more weight. I attribute my recent weight loss to a change I made in my eating habits. I love to eat and I never seem to get full. I have to make a very conscious effort to monitor my calories on a daily basis. I begin my day with a light breakfast, some milk and some type of egg sandwich. At work, I don't eat during my breaks, instead choosing to use this time for walks inside our building. I listen to podcasts or music and use my phone to catch up on emails, read, and play games. I find this is very helpful in achieving my daily step goals since I stopped attending the gym (Due to a recent lifestyle change). I drink 6-9 cups of water during the day and eat my "lunch" in the evening. I will have a small dinner later in the evening. I have been also trying to get to bed earlier so this change has definitely helped, too. All of this has resulted in a noticeable drop in my daily calories and my relationship with food. I have literally cut close to 1,000 calories on a daily basis (and sometimes have to push myself to hit 2,000 calories! This is a good change and one not certainly for everybody (or anybody in fact) but it appears to be working for me.
UPDATE: I continue with following this radical plan and it continues to work for me as I am losing more weight. I have dropped 34 pounds in the last eight months! Also, I have done some further research into this new lifestyle of mine and think my method can be classified as fasting. Now I am not starving myself, I am merely choosing to stay away from food for a certain period of time. I am still getting all of my necessary nutrition on a daily basis. I am really loving this lifestyle.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE
I am truly amazed at how this change in eating habits has positively affected me. I have plenty of energy, find myself sometimes "forcing" myself to eat, and getting much more sleep. While my initial foray into the healthy living world back in 2009 was life-changing, this intermittent fasting lifestyle has been life and mind-altering.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE TO THE UPDATE
I continue down this path of delaying my lunch and dinner to the end of my day and I continue to enjoy success. The recent holidays did proved to be challenging but following this path has allowed me to get back on schedule with my healthier lifestyle. I am truly pleased with these results.

So do you make New Year's resolutions? I never have as I think the best time to start something is when you are ready to start and not some arbitrary date. I started my healthier lifestyle in December 2009. I imagine if I would have delayed my change until January 2010 I probably would have failed. I was ready in December and needed to start then. Thank goodness I am the way I am!
Nevertheless, the start of a new year is a great place to take stock of where you are at and what you would like to accomplish in the future. So, with that in mind, here are some links for interesting ideas for the new year.
