MISTSMOM06 - So sorry to hear you're having trouble setting up/downloading your SP Tracker. Have you tried looking into the team called SparkPeople Activity Tracker? Coach Denise will be there to help you. She will give you the correct site for the setup.

Keep working on getting that A1C down. You can do it!! Also, keep posting to let us know how things are going for you.

Week 1, Day 6 FBS=136

I'm having a heck of a time with downloading the software for the Spark Tracker. Very frustrating. I have been checking in every day but just not on this Forum board. I've been doing really good! I've been staying well within my carbohydrates range. I am determined to get my A1c down to where it should be. Since my Dr. will want to test it again in 3 months I will probably go a second round.

It is very hot today in Michigan and I feel a bit crampy. I am in the Library where it is cool.

Week 1, day 3 (repeating week 1). Last week was a disaster for exercise, so I am repeating it. Day 1 did strength training video and a little extra walking. Day 2 walked 10 minutes. Today will be another strength video and some extra walking - at least 10 minutes if all goes well. I do my walking during quiet times at work. I started Metformin on Sunday, kind of sick for a few days. Feeling much better now & my numbers are going down. I don't have a problem tracking food or staying in the guidelines.

Day 2 Week 1 did great. For the second day I have tracked my food. I'm still not perfect but I'm doing way better than if I wouldn't. I walked 15,819 steps.. I went for an early walk and continued cleaning house. I'm back because I know that I need all emoticon SP support. The moment I stay away, my glucose goes up and I start up gaining. So here I am again..

I have been doing the exercises everyday plus more. Learning to track is still difficult with the food, but the rest of the tracking is alright.

Today is like a vacation day for us, but have plenty to keep me busy for the day and working to get the To Do List completed - it's all exercise! WooHoo!

Set up a goal to lose one pound a week, at least - hoping for more, but at any rate, loss will be good!

Have a good one!

Week 1 Day 5 - I am feeling so much better! I've not followed the meal plan exactly as it is because some of the foods I don't like but I am staying within the ranges that have been set for me. I know getting up earlier in order to pack my meals & snacks for while at work. Not only is it convenient to have ready at my desk but it keeps me out of the restaurant they have in the building for the employees and I'm saving quite a bit of money. I work on a large campus and I've started parking at the furthest spot from the door. It probably a couple of blocks in length from the entrance. I start with a trainer tomorrow. I am very excited :)

Week 1...Tuesday, Day 5: Spent the day patting myself on the back. No scale used however, I fit into a pair of Bermudas I was not able to wear the previous week. Love being able to tell weight loss or gain by how my clothes Did get my walking down big time for me.

Week 1 ... Wednesday Day 6 Doctors appointment today so looking forward to their scale. Plenty of walking on the agenda for today. Meals planned low in sugars and sodium with plenty of veggies and fruit. Looking for another drop for next week.

Week 1, Day 5 went well - food within range and did Cardiac Rehab exercises. My blood sugar drops to about 75, 76 after exercise so they have me drink juice or I take glucose tabs. I'm limited by Medicare on test strips and have to check on CR days before and after exercise so I'm not testing on other days.

No problem with walking here-I work on a busy Cardiac Unit at my hospital and I am always running around-lots of steps per night. I usually get over 3, 000 steps per night. I wear my fitbit zip and I also sometimes wear my Spark Activity tracker. Not at the same time, though.
emoticon

My medical insurance at the hospital that has covered my Accuchek Aviva machine since I started working there in 2007 no longer covers it. Will only cover the Freedom Freestyle.
So, they got me a new meter along with controls, strips and new lancets.
I do not stick much-but due to my sugar dropping now from time to time at night at work I am sticking a little more to try and figure out the why. It is a busy floor.

MICHELE142 - Great breakfast; blueberry smoothie for lunch sounds great - just make sure that you have some protein in your smoothie .

JAN - Doing good. Don't expect to be perfect but instead strive for consistency each day - one day at a time.

LINDA - Be careful with that knee. Have you tried any chair exercises? They are pretty good. I go back to those every so often when my knees etc are giving me trouble.

KCHANDLER623 - Try some light exercises in the home or even some chair exercises.

VGIBSON - Yard work and basketball are wonderful exercises. As for planned exercises, try walking for 10 minutes once or twice each day.

VICTORIA - Try walking for exercise for maybe 5-10 minutes each day until you get into the habit of doing some exercise each day.

IAMJOYYFUL - That's a good question to ask yourself each time you want to over eat or to put something into your mouth. Be sure to put the food you eat in your Nutrition Tracker whether they be good or bad choices. By putting even the bad choices into your tracker you will find out where you could have done better at that point in time.

Keep up the good work! Remember - this is only the first week!! Be kind and forgiving of yourself. YOU ARE WORTH IT !!!

This is harder than I thought it would be. Drinking water is not a problem as that is usually all I drink, but with baseball being donw, it might be easier than running everywhere and having no set time to do anything. Saturday was a busy day, but Sunday was a relaxation day - hurt my knee and am having trouble walking. Thank goodness I sit at work mostly. Hope to do better today and rest of week. My first day was 6/19/14. Thanks, Linda emoticon

Week 1...day 3 : An eye opening morning, focusing so much on eating right and revamping my Diabetes regime, have lacked in taking a few of my meds. Those could have caused my low energy level. So today it's back to the drawing board. making a revamp for Day 4.

Day 1 - went well as I was focused on my goals.
Day 2 - overate as I was focused on eating what I wanted.
Moral - focus on what I want the most (to be healthy and trim) rather than immediate gratification (to eat all day and stay overweight)!
Day 3 - focused on my goals so I am doing good so far.

MICHELE - Stress can really do a number on someone with diabetes. Learn all you can about diabetes, what causes it, the symptoms of hyper and hypoglycemia, how to treat diabetes, and the complications that come along with uncontrolled diabetes!!!

Exercise is really a good way to reduce our stress level. Walking is an excellent way as well. Just don't hold the stress in - work through it and then get rid of whatever is causing you to be stressed.

Just remember, we are here for you!! You are NOT in this alone. emoticon and together emoticon .

FLORIDAGHOST - Good job on the exercises. Sometimes we can't all do the some of the exercises and that's ok. You do the ones that you can. Don't be afraid to substitute for those exercises that are too hard. I know that I, myself, have to substitute for a few of the exercises myself because of health issues. Substituting is permissible I think that sometimes it's better to gain a little strength in our arms, legs, and backs before we really tackle some of the harder exercises. Just don't be too hard on yourself. Remember, we aren't striving for perfection but instead, strive to be consistent - sometimes it's only on one item but small changes make for big strides which leads to success.

Take it just one step and one day at a time. emoticon and together emoticon .

Week 1.....Day 2: Able to get some outside walking in before the humidity here made it impossible, no rain forecasted for today. Doing some slow cooker for tonights Dinner just to keep the heat down inside. Dinner tonight will also give another meal the first part of next week.
Today will be a reading one to try and get that stress level down. Also will do some extra walking within the apartment.

Week 1, Day 3 -Feeling good!!!!

This is leftover day. Happily, I only have healthy leftovers, so staying in the guidelines is easy. I meal plan for the week on Sat and shop early Sunday morning.

This is a strength training day. I will do an arm video this afternoon. I'm having to build up on the exercise. That's one of the reasons I joined this challenge.

Week One - Day Two Check In

Managed to get more than one exercise done yesterday, one being the required weekly exercise. Some of the sets I could not do, like the "squats" or "push up" from the chair. I don't think my arms are long enough - definitely not strong enough at this point in time. I will keep working on it, cuz practice makes perfect - I know that for a fact.

Today is Saturday - discovered something about myself today! I have deplorable eating habits on Saturdays! I know how they got started and I know how to fix them so have already worked out the menu for next Saturday, which includes the menu for Saturday, the shopping is already complete for Saturday's breakfast. We will have breakfast before we go shopping for the next week's groceries. Now I have to do double fitness to work off the garbage I ate for breakfast today!

Good thing - the DH is in on it with me, so no strife there!

Onward! It's the only way to go - all else is unacceptable!

Week 1, Day 1 - not off to a great start but I am committed to this challenge. Tomorrow will be a better day. Today was a pain filled day and one of my major downfalls is when the pain levels reach a high I tend to reach for crunchy, salty, snacks. I have to find an alternative that is not carrots or celery, and not filled with sugar.
On a positive note I drank all my water and did a bit more walking than usual, in spite of the pain. I also remind myself that it was not the tortoise that won the race it was that ever steady, though slow, turtle.

Week 1 day 2. So far so good. Mi diet is balanced and I fell with more energy. I did not have any panic attacks but I felt a bit anxious yesterday. The only thing that I am really struggling is to get back to the gym. It is getting very hard for me as I do not feel that I want it to.....

Week 1... 1st full Day. Pulled of the Nutrition Trackers from the 1st of June, hoping to pick up some weak areas. Attempted to go out the front door for morning walk but Heat index is climbing through the 90s this morning. So well do some fast track walking through the apartment. At present, having no problem with drinking those 8 glasses a day an then some.

Week one, day one went well. I tracked my food and was at the low end of calorie range. I recently started Cardiac Rehab exercise at the local hospital (I qualify because being Diabetic puts me at risk for heart problems) and did 50 minutes of treadmill, recumbent bike and one other machine I don't know the name of that works the upper body.

Week 1, Day 1 (6/19/2014) went pretty well, I tracked my food, was well below my calorie goal, but still felt full, went to the gym.

Day One of Week One! I've just joined and well on my way to a great start. Need to get out there for a walk so on my way now. I'm here to change my attitude for exercising better. I do exercise everyday, Mondays and Wednesdays (most weeks) are my biggest days and I feel like I'm stuck in concrete on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I need to get more exercise before meals, according to my health provider so I have to learn to change that attitude. I am not an exercise freak so I will easily ignore this issue. Now I need to learn to stop ignoring it!

Day one - week one again
I have had my pre-breakfast glucose below 120 for the last month and just this week it is between 120 and 140 so my goal is to get back to where I was
I know exercise is the key - so my goal is to have my tracker register 10 minutes of cardio before noon everyday (I cannot walk for 10 minutes at a time so this is a big challenge)
3 day a week of water aerobics
and low carb evenings

goal is to be able to walk again

Day 1 Week 1. Diagnosed Type 2 today. Now on Glucophage. I already use the Diabetic Menu (pre-diabetic for several years), may not get my exercise in today with family coming over after dinner for SIL birthday. I am really looking forward to the next 8 weeks of the challenge.

This is my first day of my first week. I want to first set my goals. I want to lose at least 10 to 12 pounds within these 8 weeks. I want to do that by exercising and eating healthy. I want to find foods that are not only good for me but taste great. I don't want to eat healthy for the next 8 weeks only to lose weight but I want to take the next 8 weeks to make a life style change all around. Eating healthy, exercising and just truly enjoy life.
