Week 5, Day 7 was yesterday. Yesterday was just as bad, or even worse than the day before, BUT I got a grip, tweaked a few things around, and stayed on both tracks. It ended up a good day.

I've always had the mindset that Candy Season begins on Halloween and ends on Easter. One of my goals is to remove Candy Season from my inner/biological calendar, and I'm not quite sure how to go about changing a mindset. It is a conundrum. Think I'll look it up on the net.

bs remains a mystery to me... but is trending downwards! woot!

just recently, had a few fbs #'s in the 120s, typically still in the 130s and some pop up to mid-140s, especially mid-morning (aka dawn syndrome, illness...) but trending down and that's encouraging... to look back and see the downtrend... day to day, can feel discouraging... so this is something we need to keep doing and trust it is helping... and as we do, hopefully will see progress over time... and also recognize if we get a hike/spike that's worse so we can get help & take care of it!

Loaded a 16 foot trailer about 1 foot deep with rocks from my pile...well actually the whole pile is in the trailer. Had help for about half of that. I was amazingly not very sore the next morning and finished collecting the odds and ends around the place that need to go back to Texas with me. Then we went to town shopping. Boy were my feet sore. But we did it and now the hard part is done and we can just relax today. Not sure when I'm going home as I have contracted a couple to take care of the yard. They will try to get to it on Wednesday and i want to stay until then. We'll see!

have a great week everyone!!

Love the switch up of exercising this week. I'm going to my daughters for a few days so will take everything with me to keep going. Doctors visit showed my glucose levels had decreased and I'm out of the danger zone for pre diabetes. Going to work to keep it that way!

Keep moving forward in learning and in health. I chose to repeat week 7 when I felt I just didn't get it accomplished and so I will be ready to move on with confidence - Keep up your reading, exercise as possible and testing and learning the foods for life along the way. Blessings in this week of learning.

Tues 31st hard market day in 104 degree temps - managed to get through and home safely
Wed August 1 Just not getting much communication done but am always counting those carbs, checking the number of steps nd aware of the need to control this beast. This was a more restful day for me but also craving all this fresh fruit round me nd gave in to a couple measured portions of peaches. Not getting much study or special exercises done -

Wt on July 1 209 today is 206.0 so down 3 pounds

Blood sugar was a bit higher with average 103 for the week. Keep goal of under 100.
Steps did well but also requiring Tylenol daily for pain goal will only increase to 3500 even though my average last week was 4270!!! This week will try to track foods every day so I can get averages of carbs and net carbs

Today FBS 110 twice this week I hit 110 grrrrr Inflammation is high with needing Tylenol for arthritis pain and did not track a few days so might be high in carbs.

Tuesday of WK 5. Adding to 120 minutes two-day walking, I walk for 30 minutes to the school I work for for 4 days a week. It's an accomplishment of my 100 lbs weight loss, I used not to walk that long distance before my weight loss due to my fractured foot and heavy weight myself. Now I can do that, and want to do that for the rest of my life. I am sure this will keep my blood sugar level low, and I will not have to do the insulin injection in my future.

WK 5 started. I have been walking, 120 minutes each for two days a week. Doing some toning and stretching on the other days. I haven't returned to the dr's office, will get there at the end of the month and measure the blood sugar for this month.

No change for my weight, but I am feeling wonderful with walking 6 km each for a walking day, 12000 steps that day. Getting used to walking this long. Want to continue exercising in this manner.

looking forward to pulling out the weights - i've been stalling
cardio is definitely under control
tracking is no problem - very consistent and tracking everything
breakfast everyday and finally getting lots of fiber too, successfully avoiding sugars and sweeteners. Also varying menu each day that repeats every 3-4 days.

Week 5 Challenge
A successful start to every day

You are officially halfway through your weight-loss challenge! It's common for people to lose steam and motivation after a few weeks, especially if they aren't seeing the results they had hoped for. But don't give up yet! Rest assured, that even if you're not losing as much weight as you'd like, changes are happening inside your body, and weight loss will catch up eventually. The best thing you can do is stick the course through to the end. This week, you'll continue with your increased cardio plan from last week, try a new body-strengthening workout, and focus on starting your day with a healthful breakfast.

Week 5 Action Plan
Get your new strength-training workout. Week five's video uses dumbbells, but you can use other household objects (water bottles, canned food, etc.) if you don't have any weights. Try the video three days this week (an equipment-free alternative is also provided if you prefer), and continue with four 15-minute cardio sessions throughout the week. Concerned about the workouts? Try these seated workout options if you're struggling with limited mobility or diabetes complications. Here are more tips to make our workout plan work for you.

Track your food. At least 3 days this week, record everything you eat on your Nutrition Tracker. This will encourage you to make healthy choices and think before you bite.

Eat a healthful breakfast each day. If you're not in the habit of eating breakfast yet, it's time to start. A balanced breakfast can help you stabilize your blood sugar levels, give you energy for the day, and help you lose more weight by controlling hunger.

Well, here we are in Week 5 and while I'm still stuck on a plateau thanks to this challenge I know I'm doing all the right things. Although the scale is "stuck", my FBS levels are very good! I just need to stay on course and eventually I will once again lose the pounds. I really hate plateaus, but this is the very first time that I hit one and did not quit!! You only fail if you quit. I am not a quitter. The saving grace is that people look at me and ask if I'm losing weight (and I have exercise and weight training to thank for that). I need to stop giving myself negative messages, and the scale is not the best measurement, it's just the one that gives me the most mental pain. emoticon

Week five was the worst week ever...I feel like nothing but all bad. Treating myself poorly, treating others poorly, feeling sorry for myself, feeling sorry for the planet; and really, I'm not sad or depressed--just disappointed for not having whatever it takes to be a better me.

Wk 5, day 5. The bad mood is gone. My sugars have, no surprise here, spiked. Put it all behind me. Today is a new day. Tomorrow will be even better. 8-)

In the worst mood ever! This, too, shall pass; not soon enough. I'm hating, and I hate that!
Don't care what I weigh; don't care what my sugars are; this is not good!

It's late, Wk 5, Day 3

It's been a rough couple of days for me -- blood sugars crashing in the afternoon, and all reasoning just flying out the window. I'll get it together tomorrow. I re-read, re-affirmed, re-?? to eat a piece of fruit for the immediate lift, followed by some protein, so now I'm re-committed to come to my senses. I was eating the fruit, but not adding the protein, so got caught in stoopid loop. The sun will come out tomorrow. 8-)javascript:void(0)

I regained some of the weight that I regained last month this past week and although I stayed within my daily calorie range except for one day I did not do any specific cardio or strength exercises. I have tracked my food 35 days in a row. I did eat out on Saturday night so I am thinking that it could be water retention. So, this is a new week and a renewed determination to break 250 lbs.

Kick it to the curb!

yes - I am supposed to get in 10,000 steps but over 6,000 and I have to put on pain pads - neuropathy pain gets unbearable
I do try to get at least 6,000 a day .. I am hoping with weight loss - I can do more with less pain .. really need strength training - wish I could use a gym for that ...

Yesterday I exercised at the hardest and highest level to date since joining this challenge and I might have overdone it.
Today sore and tired. I will try to get at least a 10 minute minimum session in just to keep some consistency.

WEEK 5 DAY2
It is Monday - weigh in day - and I guess I should be discouraged. after the best week of exercising and careful dieting with tracking, I didn't lose anything.
However, now I am mad. I will re-double my efforts and look forward to next Monday.
I did have some good news today: my FBS is down to 123. I expect that to drop further this week too.
I am going to win this battle! emoticon emoticon

WEEK 5 DAY 1
Last week was my best exercise week since joining this challenge.
Met my mileage goal and my calorie burned goal.
Now time to step everything up and really become more consistent with strength training.

Hi all I ma feeling my age. I had my great neice and nephew over to watch, it was the first time t hey came to my apt.

They enjoyed the amenities ( basket ball court nd a playground) and it kept me young. I enjoyed them as much as they enjoyed coming here . I have had a weight gain, but drs have been notified last week, So we are trying to keep from going to the hospital. The carpet cleaners came jst about time Mom came to take us all to lunch, WHhch I thought was pretty good timing on her part. The floors look great! and the the kids had a great time, and mom was able to helo out at church, I got my exercise playing with them.

Just keep focused and your dreams will turn into realities. With God as your Master Trainer, all things are possible!

week 5 particip-action:

i can do cardio and weight training until the cows come home. Weight-loss is about 98% food control for me. went to the pool but only dangled my feet in the water.

have dumbbells at home and routines galore. can gear up with the db routines again 3 times as week and walking more and more at least 4 times per week.

tracking food but often food measured less than accurately.

have good cereal and 1% milk for some breakfasts at home but not if i wake up at 5 a.m. to get to work for 7:30 a.m. will have to brown bag more and more food.
