I think Sally Hawkins is marvelous - she is always fascinating to watch on screen. I have enjoyed del Toro's films and I'm eager to see this as well. Thanks for the review!

I watched The Shape of Water this weekend. I find this to be a polarizing movie based on comments I read. People either love it or hate it. I will say that am glad I only paid matinee price to see it. This was an unoriginal story. One small plot device was lifted straight out of Waterworld. There was a secondary story line that just seemed unnecessary and gross. The gay story line was underdeveloped and fodder at best. I do think Sally Hawkins had an excellent performance and was truly the bright spot in this movie. Octavia Spencer's character felt the most real in this fairy tale monster movie turned love story.
