I was thinking some of that video could definitely be done from a seated position, but not all of it probably. But you can look up seated yoga on youtube too.

You just know I have to put my two cents' worth in, lol...

I always struggle with links that include that security "s." What I did with this one is delete everything in front of "www." So let's see if it works:

By golly, it looks as though it did! Give that link a try to go to the video Kathy posted. And yes, it does indeed look like a really good one, slow and gentle movements that I think are very relaxing. I felt pretty good after going through the sequence with him.

Hi Kathy! Looks like this will be a great link, but you need to edit the post and delete the 's' on http and then save please. I learned this through experience. Thanks!!

This is on you tube and is very slow, very easy yoga for us who are out of shape or disabled and have trouble doing the different poses. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpXoK

Mygoodness, at 73 years young, I am afraid that some of those poses would leave me in that position for the rest of my life. I see some that are doable but others might just do me in. LOL.

I couldn't find anything that said how long she's been doing yoga, but I'll bet when she started she was just like a lot of us - and I think CEREBELLUM hit the nail on the head, lol...

She was doing pretty good and she seems flexible! If she can do it, we can too!

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And
maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world
Breathe in love & compassion.. Breathe out peace & forgiveness.

I'm a little (okay, A LOT) behind things, but before our day starts at The Coff House I wanted to post something I read yesterday.

Here on the CET some of us are "chair-bound" while others do seated exercises because of limited mobility, flexibility limitations, etc. Many of us are, or have been, morbidly obese (do you see my hand up? lol), and doing chair exercises means we can start doing something active to work on a fitness program.

It's this last category - morbidly obese - that I think this article especially speaks to.

Some people who are overweight will say things like "I can't exercise because I can't really movel" or "I run out of breath so quickly" or "I just don't have the flexibility." At one time or another I've said these things myself (and sometimes still do).

Then I see something like this:

www.instagram.com/biggalyoga/

When I saw the photos of Valerie doing various yoga poses I went looking for more about practicing yoga when you're fatter, older, out of shape... I found her Tumblr website:

big-gal-yoga.tumblr.com/

Her motto is "Anything you can do, I can do almost." I found this not only refreshing (as opposed to my own all-too-often negative "I couldn't ever do that") but downright inspiring. Maybe I can't do "that," whatever "that" is - but I can do "almost" or "nearly" or even "partly."

I will often give in to (self) intimidation, quitting before I start: maybe it's the old perfectionism bugaboo. "If I can't do it right / well / perfect, I might as well not attempt it at all."

The new year approaches, and I am ever the perennial optimist when it comes to resolutions, a clean slate, and new beginnings.

This year, I think, I am going to work on yoga. Because anything "they" can do, I can do. Almost.
