After a forced rest due to illness, I was able to go to work, yesterday and have a good day.

My car hopefully is fixed after a mechanical issue yesterday. I rely on this all the time, but especially this week, with meeting movers various places. Thinking positive.

I am in the homestretch of the worst madness.

I lost a few pounds!

My son, Nick and daughter Ashley are a huge help to me this week.

gave thought to some “unfinished business” and laid out “a plan”

listened to an inspirational message, and got new ideas that were obvious, but not directly in my thinking until that moment

gave a name to the discouragement, so that I could “call it out”, stop ruminating, start specific actions

recognized the fears and doubts behind inaction on a project

being willing to accept smaller time segments for recreation, so that big tasks have a chance to be done

When I don't know what to do next, I pray.

Time in quiet reflection, this morning, gave a range of emotions, but was a good start.

I talked myself into my workout for the day, even though I would have rather stayed in a comfortable spot.

Caught up on needed sleep.

Gardening in the perfect weather brings joy to my soul.

I am so glad about what you said "I would never want to be a waitress, but I did have fun, that day". That is precisely what I felt like! Feet OK, but head in a whirl. In that moment, at the end of the shift, I could understand better why wait staff tend to be very chatty and almost in a daze that there might be other customers (in an enterprise food service environment) who still need attention.
Sometimes it takes "experience" to gain perspective; other times, it takes a heart of compassion and openness. And you can't have either unless you are willing to step outside of your current comfort level.

@INSH8P I remember when I waited tables for a fund-raiser, my first and only time.
Whew! I would never want to be a waitress, but I did have fun, that day.

I managed a high profile account for the first visit and am glad that was a good start.

My flu shot has been administered.

I started back up on Magnesium and B complex.

Rest played a big part of my evening and it was what I needed

My meals are planned for today, as well as my workout.

My living room, looks like a living room again. All moving boxes and bags, dealt with and put away.

I rode my new stationary bike while watching a scenic bike trail video and loved the workout!

I slept well and the appropriate number of hours.

My meals are planned for the day and they are healthy, fresh and colorful.

The planning has been done for the teams October challenge and I am stoked!

charted a menu for the week

searched high and low to have my food list complete

removed the deteriorating, questionable foods from a power outage of 5 days - my eating plan doesn't need to include that stuff

made myself sleep - in -- something else "has to give", and it's not gonna continue to be "me"

mentally said: "good job" to the many positive decisions made during September 2019, and thanked the Creator for the strength and wisdom from above that made that possible

@CVRONEK Love your energy to "attack" rearranging and organizing

played music with friends with the attitude of "I really like playing music with other people"

visited with acquaintances who reminded me of past activities and future possibilities

prepared (reheated) appetizers for a function

researched, ordered and picked up a large appliance for a reno

took time to enjoy spiritual, energizing messages to buoy my faith

@INSH8P , I am using a line from your previous post, as it is oh, so fitting, for today.

Saw energy decline as a clear sign: you can't even attempt to "do everything" - you have to choose!

Rearranged and organized one side of my storage room.

Disposed of two super cans full of things from my basement and storage room.

Had coffee with a friend.

Took out the trash for a friend and now home for some me time.

Road trip was a "success"

Extra planning at work was necessary, and made the start of a new campaign cycle much easier to help new colleagues

Offered support to a colleague, and I think that someone was surprised that "someone noticed" and "someone cared"

Saw energy decline as a clear sign: you can't even attempt to "do everything" - you have to choose!

I love the "extras" of living: they make going to work worthwhile!

Will allow myself a "day out of town". Haven't been on a road trip "just for fun" in a while.

Did end of the month pre-planning for work... have decided that having more personal agency over things I know that someone will ask me to get done will take the "sting" out of doing them, on my own time.

Took a look at what was on my home office desk, with a view to reducing the visual distractions as much as possible

Added a new step to my "creative" brainstorming workflow - using "wing clips" to gather like subjects of brainstorming notes, and place them in a file folder box, before formally filing them. I realize that, I have grown up pre-personal computer age, so I learned and practiced brainstorming on paper, not on a screen. (the closest I can get to that is using a tablet device). I just have to acknowledge that I shouldn't stress over it - just mange the "stuff" that comes from the creativity, knowing that there are some significant, marketable products that come from the messy part of the process.

Thank you, thank you for the gentle way in which everyone in this SP Team "Happy Healthy Sparkers" has been so open and thoughtful. This is certainly a positive of my day. I can think about ideas and share them in a way that wouldn't be possible on my own... and certainly not on other social media platforms.

I took care of a huge financial thing, and it is a weight off of my shoulders. emoticon

I have jumped into relearning or actually bettering my German. emoticon

I found Mama's handwritten directions for knitting her Christmas bells. emoticon

I have lined up all sorts of help for the tasks at hand.

I found a lovely outfit for when it is time to go to Arlington.

Thank you, @INSH8P . It will be OK. I have always gotten do attached to things, over the years.

The memorial went very well and was beautiful. The next day was extremely emotional for me though.
I am like that. Really good at the task at hand or for a crisis, but afterwards fall apart. emoticon

@CVRONEK Sorry about the garage; there must be lots of memories there
How did the memorial go on Saturday?

I am active every day; even though changes have been needed

I have a plan to stay "busy" during a time of transition

I am trying out new morning routines, including pre-measuring ingredients (seems to be working, so far)

Actively looking for encouragement, because I haven't figured out how to "do" meal planning in a sustainable way... Found a "let me walk you by the hand, step-by-step thinking it out / problem solving" article here on SparkPeople ... will see if this gets me into the direction I am looking for

Had a laugh watching a reality program "X-Weighted". The person wanting to lose weight, a health professional, had every excuse in the book; but it wasn't funny -- I could see myself and past excuses in the multiple ways that individual was dealing with the lifestyle change issues...

Friends took me out to dinner at a Seafood place, totally out of the blue.

I made a sculptor very happy by giving him a old bumper jack for his refurbished 1957 two door wagon.

There is now a plan in place for the demolition of my garage. Sad to see it go, but needed, as too costly to repair and getting dangerous.

I feel really good, this morning. Relaxed and ready to take on the day.

Most of my yard work and cleaning are done for the memorial on Saturday.

Electrical outlets that were damaged during construction got repaired (4 hours of investigation, detection, and correction with 2 electricians on the job).

Found out (by chance) about optional workshops for workplace development -- research and signup: DONE

Prepared for a known lifestyle change

Took time to be grateful for friends and family

Worked hard, really hard on a project proposal. Felt the "sting" of not knowing how to compile the info under a deadline, but did it anyway; and it was well received. Now I need to learn how to do that without being so stressed.

Recognized lapses in communication patterns with a colleague, and self-monitored to make improvements.

Opened my thinking to be more pliable during verbal conversations; some change noted.

Got answers to some fitness questions from a professional not directly related to my discipline... very appreciative of the extra time and attention to my case.

Did a task that others are being paid to do on my behalf... but I did it anyway....

There's nothing like being asked to offer support when you are hurting to change your perspective.

Change is challenging - but that is life - and having "life abundantly".

I can see clearly now through different windows.

I found a piece of technology that was hiding at home - PHHew!

I tried a new activity; even though I got sick part way through.... I recovered quickly!

I have friends who stay in touch with me - and I reflect on what I value in those relationships, and stay in touch with them, too.

Observing instead of blaming - and then considering the possibilities: "What will change, and is it worth the initial discomfort of disrupting the status quo?"

I love to spend time day dreaming - and I now acknowledge that "me time" is part of a lifetime of creative brainstorming that I use professionally as a problem solving starter. It's OK to look at those musings as incomplete, and not as projects that have to be started.

The ‘big project’ is complete; I am pleased with the results

I put on a reception (with food, not beverage) at a function that I led - I found products to reduce the preparation time - and I started to get more confidence that, if I can offer good snack food for others, I can do the same for myself

I don’t like social functions, even though, in my area of work, it is part of the project process - but I am finding ways to be part of the social by having a designated role

Instead of verbally responding to a leader’s lack of accountability as part of the team, I observed and put a mental post-it note in my file: “Can I trust this individual to do what they say they will do”, and I actively brainstormed, instead of speaking out: “How do I discover a work-around that gives that person dignity and preserves their leadership position”. [all of this, is a big “first” for me, demonstrating situational competence in small group interpersonal transactions]

I dared to take time off, even for 24 hours, to visit friends 3 hours away from home

Feeling so good, this morning. The grief cloud is lighter.

Sprinklers set up and on at the crack of dawn. Oh how the birds and butterflies, yes, even the squirrels, love it. (Not to mention my gardens).

Did a little bit of work, this morning, with a trip to the office, but it was light and a beautiful drive.

Accomplished some yard work at Mama's and took another load home.

Finishing off the last day of June with pep in my step, a healthy meal plan and activity.

saw, in slow motion, what it is to be stressed, but worked through it, anyway (an eye-opening experience) (learned to “keep doing something” - and it was enough)

when I was called by the boss, unexpectedly, I tried to act with poise; it wasn’t anything that was any where near “career threatening” - just an update on a project

savoring an experience about ordering take-out food: I still don’t get it, but it is starting to sink in

when the going gets rough, there are amazing people who are supportive, whether you know it, or not

Got a replacement product, using warranty - has to be a first for me - would have been VERY costly, otherwise

Am second-guessing a decision, but accepting it anyway

Recognized past pattern of mistakes, but still loving myself

Preparing for staff changes at work (promotions, retirement)

Asked for help in doing a big project

Heard from a friend who needs encouragement

Used a new resource at work, with good results

Prayed for myself; fitness efforts are worth the stares and glares, because it is an investment in me

Being grateful for the small - I love that idea more, and more - every day

Gratitude for those who have sacrificed to share what they know, for those with the courage and determination to share experiences so that people like me can be inspired and informed

Listening to intuition gave a boost to a friend in need

I poured out myself to offer comfort at a service of remembrance, even though I didn’t know the family / deceased personally

Doing exercise under guidance is helping me to feel muscles and movement

I have so much to be grateful for

I have friends who will chat me up, whenever I need it

@DOINGWHATWORKS - We are glad that you remembered SparkPeople, too. Always happy to hear from you, and to have you participate in our wonderful community of motivation and feeling good about ourselves.

I have friends who care about me, unconditionally.

I had a safe trip home from extended time away.

I shared time with new people, just for the sake of doing it.

I did what was in my heart, at the moment, even though I knew it might be misunderstood.

I ignored trivial actions that don’t really matter - because there is so much of life that really does matter.

What a beautiful day!

My archaeologist neighbor just found a couple Civil war relics in my back yard! Very exciting.

I harvested my Romaine, today and some Kohlrabi.

Took care of several yard work projects.

Started reading a new book!

A colleague (exercise specialist) gave me three tweaks for my exercises - totally unexpected - and they work!

Testing with the personal training went well - I am still going to “part ways” - too expensive, not efffective enough.

I fulfilled a promise I made to a colleague - even though I wasn’t needed, I still got to see former colleagues.

I took time for myself - with no agenda... It felt good.

I changed the time on my morning alarm - Even though I didn’t get up any closer to on time, it still makes me feel like I am more ready in the morning.

My mother had a stellar day at the rehab facility.

Several hours gardening in a friend's yard made for a satisfying day and a beautiful garden.

Got my own lawn mowed so it can compliment my beds and I burned calories too!

Enjoyed a long night of deep sleep.

Ate healthy and realize I need to tweak it a bit more to see results, so that makes today off to a great start!

Hearing that SparkFriends in this thread are seeing health in their families and homes

Having resources returned to me without asking that I can use right away in current projects

Seeing the results of a more patient attitude on my part bringing happiness to others

Feeling stress roll off my back as I adopt new routines

Asking the question: “How do you think that you did all of this before?” more often so that I stop over burdening myself

Thankful that my Mama is getting the help that she needs in the hospital and that her heart has stabilized.

So glad that I can stay home today and recharge after sitting in the hospital most of the week.

It is raining and a great time to tidy up my home and not be lured to the garden.

My flowers are a joy to my soul.

Thankful that my lettuce and Swiss Chard are ready to be enjoyed, fresh from the garden.

More travel in store

Attended a professional workshop on spec; it was excellent, and not costly

I got cheered up by two acquaintances, when I needed the boost, but least expected it

A motivational presentation at work touched me deeply

The stress of renos was mitigated when a professional colleague came to the house in spite of the disarray, and received a consultation.

My blood pressure was the best that I can ever remember it being at the doctor's office.

The house is starting to resemble a clean one.

Our weather is lovely this week.

My daughter is stopping over, today.

I have friends who have encouraged me to do what I’ve got to do.

Every roadblock has had an answer.

I can physically do what needs doing.

I recognize what advice is redundant, and what comments are more helpful.

I’m going to stick this out, even if it seems really hard.

My new shirt fits great and I love the color.

I have healthy food at my fingertips and water to refresh and rehydrate.

The quarterly incentive program I came up with with was a success. (At work)

I worked hard: really hard in the kitchen, and re-visioning food preparation.

I’m doing well with music making.

I stay connected with acquaintances through social music.

I make commitments to people, and honor those promises with completed actions.

yesterday was a large fitness day - five hours of activity, including personal training, two new-to-me classes, and an hour of activity of my own selection

rain, rain, go away — but I found the parts needed to get work done on my car

no texts from anyone — that made the day quieter

some of the real things of life are getting more obvious; just don’t ask me what they are

a friend who works in end-of-life care shared with me - we both are familiar with that stage of the life cycle

wrote an article and submitted it on time

accepted someone’s offer to sit and to write at a coffee shop

discovered that an online subscription was still active, and I still had it for free - so I started using it again

got to the bottom of some deep-seated concerns; they aren’t fixed, but the awareness is there

had a chat with a spiritual leader; it was timely and graciously accepted by me

Offered support to friends going through tough, uncomfortable times.

Enjoyed working at an amazing music playing opportunity devoted to Irish culture for a St. Patrick’s Day worship service.

Shopped for and made a spring main dish instead of going out to eat. Less expensive, and plenty of left-overs that can be frozen for future meals.

Took quick action to look after an apparent training strain. Feeling much better, now.

Basked in the glow of being able to politely say “no” to someone, not in my circle of influence, to attend a function I was not interested in attending.

Another day filled with projects and not sitting at the computer.

Healthy choices for meals and drink and I feel good about that.

Thankfully, have caught up on my sleep.

Received a package from a dear friend that makes me smile. I am so grateful we found each other through this team. Like we are cousins who are big kids enjoying similar things.

Spent time with my daughter Ashley and planned our getaway to the beach in May.

Mental preparation was key when a quick visit turned into a new set of challenges.

I practiced gratitude that I get to work at something that brings me joy.

I took time to ask: What do I believe, and how will I live it.

I have friends who will listen to me, even if my situation makes them uncomfortable. They make me so proud that I consider them my friends.

I turned to research (fact finding and analysis) instead of to over-eating to handle stress.

What energy I have this week! I am embracing it and going with full gusto.
Spring has come early.

Work was finished early and with the perfect weather, I just got to prepping and priming all the panels on the porch.
Big job and I feel so good about getting this done!

Our exterior accounts are being well taken care if and that gives me great piece of mind.

With interior landscaping challenges mounting, I am feeling confident that with my plans in place, the rest of the month will be spectacular.
I am loving my confidence.

A relaxing evening with Mama was a great finish to my day.

@CVRONEK Creativity, indeed. I am trying to imagine that tin roof process!

Had massage treatment; not fun, but movement is starting in some stuck areas.

Work crisis is abating; a large number of people in my profession were used as “product testers” without adequate training, experience. Not fun, not necessary. But I have a job, so I do what I can with the available resources.

Used my “grab and go” prepared foods. When I didn’t think I had enough snacks to get through the afternoon to evening transition away from home, I eliminated quite a few “poor choice” alternatives, and purchased items. But I didn’t over eat them, the way I would have previously. Chalk up a victory, step by step. But it took a lot of mental argument to get that win...

The hot drink that I prepared was worth the extra 10 minutes to find the thermos jar, to mix and measure. That’s extra dollars that was already in the house, extra time avoided during the morning commute, all savings in dollars and “sense”.

I used yesterday’s writing session and home finance check-in to remind myself of the specific items I needed for a regular after work meeting, items that I would have forgotten about unless I was doing those before work routines at home.

end of Five Questions
But I have to accept that the routines and personal practices I have set for myself, even though no one else that I know of - family, friends - uses them, those routines are part of what allows me to accomplish so much away from home even with highly irregular, unpredictable commute patterns. The only thing predictable about travel in my region is that delays are inevitable.

Accomplished much in gardening, on a warm and sunny day.

Avoided Carpel Tunnel, even when I felt it coming on, by wearing my wrist brace to sleep in.

Got creative and managed to get the majority of the debris off the tin roof, without borrowing an extension ladder.

I did not beat myself up for having popcorn last night, when I should have stuck to my daily plan.

Felt Kenny and Tigger close by and it was good. emoticon emoticon

The work event that was freaking me out had a succesful conclusion.

Prayer works... I can get so confused, that I forget about the power of prayer.

I will push physically when everything is on the line - just ask my trainer what I did in just ten short minutes.

I achieved my “measurable wellness goals” earlier in the day than usually - so I just slept. No extra house work - just chilled. Something different.

Sorry, friends. No texts, no emails answered. Just sleep time.

I saw / see another day.

Friends respond when I wish them well.

When I took the time to chat with someone clearing snow, I found out that a member of their family was away... It was even more precious that I took time to chat up someone "new to me" but known to a higher power.

A good night's rest - something not easy to come by more recently.

Discernment to know who will listen objectively, and who is listening from other motives.

Today I woke up early after a restful night. Just the way I like it.

Feeling very motivated and have my meal plans and workouts scheduled in for the week ahead.

I get to see my son Nick this afternoon!
We don't get together often enough with our work schedules, but today he will be coming over to his Grami's with me.

Warm weather on the horizon and with a new mesh green house and seeds starting, I feel good about my 2019 vegetable garden.

The support from my friends has gotten me through some very difficult times.
I am so very appreciative, for all. Something to remember every day.

I took time to give work colleagues (more than one) a boost. I could sense that it made a difference (positive).

I followed up on some personal issues, with good results.

I got stuck on frozen compacted snow with a crusty surface. Instead of getting frustrated, I got out the ice chopper, took it easy with the plastic shovel, and got to work to resolve the issue: with enough success to get un-stuck (at least, I was at home!!)

When I fell asleep and was late for giving someone a ride home, they just called me, and were still appreciative for getting a ride. Those are the kind of friends I like to have. Grateful heart and ready to accept "less than perfect".

My "go to" computer has a mechanical defect. I looked at warranty coverage, and discovered that my model is covered by a factory defect repair program for the exact problem that I am experiencing. Now how is that! Sounds like I don't even have to use my warranty coverage....

Not every day has such obvious resolutions.... But I am still happy to report the progress along the way. It definitely has an impact on how I deal with food, and handle the ups and downs of living.

Thank you, INSH8P. Nice to get encouragement along the journey.

I have a great day lined up at work, with friends and family.

Although a cold or maybe allergy issues are lurking, I am putting mind over matter and smiling bright.

Becoming more aware of the nutritional values of what goes into my mouth. Funny, how I can lapse, even with years f knowledge.

I so appreciate this team that has so much to offer. My spark buddies have helped me through the valleys.

It's a dry day, in Richmond!

@CVRONEK You are sooooo good, getting into those jeans... Well done!

I took the time to journal so that I could get rid of a bad attitude.

I took some deep breaths, and enjoyed doing that.

I reminded myself of the things that I get to do, not have to do — a simple reframing puts things in a whole different perspective.

I was in contact with a number of interesting people.. That was good!

I continue to find positive participation in the SparkPeople community. Thank you, members of this Team, Happy Healthy Sparkers, who gave timely advice when I was thinking about leaving. You were right: leave the trolls and find people who care, for the long haul.

Was able to work from home.

Fit into jeans that had been too small since last Fall.

Ate according to my plan.

Got my Madi Gras outfit and nails ready for tomorrow.

Did heavy housework and burned calories.

Being a techie - takes more time than I think, but works out in the end

Encouraging people - always worth it

Regaining confidence makes for grace under pressure

Patience, patience, and then -- more patience

There's nothing like an all-encompassing project to keep your mind off of food

I am prepared for the next two day's meetings with my techs.

My organizational skills have vastly improved and I feel confident.

My home is filled with good, healthy foods for a successful week ahead.

I am managing my TMD/TMJ and keeping a brave face through this flareup.

I am at the ready, to start my heirloom seeds for a garden that is full of promise.

Planning and scheming got me to work when I chose to go carless.

Friends showed me unconditional support when I needed it the most.

I faced a fear, even though I was called out on the issue - I still did what I could, and forgot about the rest.

Quick recovery from a situation that came on quickly - nothing had to be cancelled.

I’m doing what I need to, step by step, learning along the way.

Dental procedure went well.

Ashley and I had great mother/daughter time and have our goals set for the next two months.

We also are planning a trip to the beach!

My individual meetings with my techs are all set for next week.

I am sticking with my heart healthy life style.

Taking action with a thorny work problem, and seeing improvements.

Brainstorming a resolution to a transportation situation.

Having all of the tools ready for a client in one of my side gigs.

Showing daily courage to ask for help.

Getting more comfortable with messy work: the tasks that are necessary, but not pleasant.

I lost two pounds! First two of the new year.

Picking up my cross stitch again, helped me relax and get back to something that I have always enjoyed.

My muscles are sore, but in a good, way, as things are being worked out that have spent too many an idle day.

Tigger, is having a good day and time spent on the couch this morning, was comforting for both of us.

Warming and the gardening itch has me planning a spell of exterior work, to lighten the spirit.

— an ongoing, multi-step project had a good start: I was especially happy to get positive feedback
— I didn’t know what to say, online, to respond to a situation of loss; what I finally wrote and offered was received, graciously
— I received an answer to a situation that had been bothering me for 2 1/2 years... It was simpler than I realized, and it wasn’t what I expected
— I chose to help someone, and while I was waiting, I saw an unrelated situation in a new way
— I reached out to help someone else, and what I had to offer was accepted (to my surprise)

Took down the Christmas tree and it was very pleasant.

Did a bootcamp Cardio workout and I am really going to feel it the next couple of days.

The power has stayed on, even when the strong winds and the house is staying warm and cozy.

Had a glorious night's sleep!

Getting some major cleaning done, between office work.
