Completing Day 7 of Week 3 today along with starting Day 1 of Week 4. Had to go intot he city yesterday, so my choice workout was the walking we had to do, but left me no time to get the video in. Will repeat that today do a different w/o instead of today's day 1 video. I will aim to track 3 days this week. Will continue fitting in fitness beyond this challege and making healthy choices.

Starting the last week. Exercising is becoming more of a habit but food is still a big problem for me. I am seeing a therapist to try to find out what is keeping me from getting my food under control. I know if I could learn to control my eating I would lose this weight. The more I try to record food on the nutrition tracker and try to eat healthy the more I crave and the harder it is to control what I eat. I am determined to get my eating under control so I will do what ever I have to, to find a way to stop the emotional eating.

As you can see on my signature I am back down to starting weight. I now have to get it going the right direction.

Week 4 going well! I was on track with cardio exercise, but not toning so doing the videos as part of the challenge has been good for me and I'm more likely to do them in future now that it's more of a habit. At the very least, I'll be doing more strength training one way or the other. Plus, I'm more conscious about eating at least 5 fruits and veggies and that will definitely continue.

When I started week 4 seemed so far away, but now it seems like the time went by so fast. This has been great, except for all the trouble with getting a couple of videos to play. I've learned to go to you tube, but wish they would play on spark to cut out some a.m. time. Hard enough to get in exercise without video skipping and stopping.

Finished my challenge with 82 minutes of exercise today! emoticon

This challenge has really helped me. I watched multiple SP workout videos and modified the exercises to accommodate my physical limitations and needs. I've incorporated the exercises into my daily workouts and gained more strength. My favorite workout video is the 20 minute resistance bands workout.

Thank you SP for this challenge!

Goal for next month: wal 30 minutes per day for cardio (do video if it rains), do strength training with dumbell and body weight 5 days per week to continue the exercise habit.

It's the journey. We can do this.

Definitely exercising more with this challenge. I plan to attempt another 4-week challenge and continue doing at least one spark people video for 6-days of the week on top of my 6-days of cardio.

Did a different exercise yesterday and I feel the pain today ugh! At least I know I did something right. Today, I took it easy and still managed to burn 918 calories. So, I am a happy camper :-) Things are looking up! Weigh-in Tuesday..

Nickycrane, that's a great post and very motivational!

Well done for thinking out your next steps - on to the 28-day Bootcamp workout! I'm going to have another 4 weeks of this challenge (I think I'll stick with weeks 3 and 4, twice) then I might also "graduate" to the tougher stuff.

Don't our dogs just love SparkPeople!

I've only repeated 2 Pilates videos so far and tomorrow's my last day - and it's a long one!!! But I've stuck to the rest of the programme. What I have done some days is to do some cardio before the pilates. Today was a rush, so I just did the pilates video in the morning, 9 mins, doable. Then we had the kids. After lunch I crashed out and thought I'd give the walking the dog a miss. But I got up feeling refreshed and took his Lordship out to his delight. And repeated the pilates video after I got in.
Tomorrow is my last day of this challenge. I"ve decided to go on to the 28 day bootcamp challenge. (I couldn't even get through the 6 minute warmup till I'd been working at it for several weeks, despite having exercised daily with another video, and thought Coach Nicole was being sadistic!). Now I'm ready to face it.
During this jumpstart month I've got into the habit of getting out, usually with a dog, for cardio. The dogs are delighted! I've given up taking them both together. Once we met a vast dog who was minding his own business, but my boys (over 35 kilos themselves) wanted to attack him and it was all I could do to hold on to them. Had the dog taken offence and taken up their challenge, I couldn't have held them and tried to defend them. If I just have one, I have a free hand to wield stick or pepper gas if neccessary.
My fitbit, which arrived just before the New Year, is a great encouragement to get in more steps, tho I usually end up around 7-8000. But that's OK.
Though people say it exaggerates your calories burned, I've been making sure I eat less calories than it says I burn, and have lost 2 1/.2 kilo since New Year's Eve! As my aim is a kilo a month, and I was just aiming to remain the same weight at the end of January as I was before Christmas, this is encouraging progress. I'm 2 kilos ahead of goal!! And only 3 more to go, unless, when I've reached my goal, I decide to review it.
I'm really enjoying exercise now.
When it snows properly and we have deep snow and untreated ice, walking outside will be a challenge. I'm 70 next birthday and don't walk around town when it's a skating rink. Having experienced our hospital having my appendix out last year, I don't wish to be there with broken bones!
Enough! Next week I move on to 28 day bootcamp. Anyone joining us?

Starting week 4. Still fighting myself on getting back into meal tracking regularly, although I still try to pay attention "as if" I were tracking. As if... :D Anywhoo, ramping up the fruits and veggies. This was a great reminder, as I seem to have been slacking a bit in that area for a little while. I actually missed a day on videos (*gasp*) yesterday. I think it's the only day I've missed so far though! I think my long term goal, for exercise, and everything else, is to remember that consistency is the foundation of success, and consistently making an effort, even if I make mistakes along the way, will bring me much closer to my goals than giving up. And "You're never a looser until you quit" :) Spark On!

Week 4 Day 5

Video (Pilates hip and thigh workout) DONE TWICE (with a gap in between - it's really hard!

Cardio - 34 minute walk with the dog, stepping out as much as I could over icy paths. I only had time for a short field walk today - but added an extra road bit down to the bottom of the village and back up the hill.

Before taking on this challenge I would have skipped this walk altogether, so I'm pleased.

@mommacassey, those desk video that they have on here. They are for the upper body but you can do them while sitting at your desk or in a chair. I have used those several times during this challenge. Because working from home and doing other things to boot, exercise shorten due to time. I have gone to the gym and only stay there for 30 minutes but come home and do those exercises at my desk. I would say that those could benefit anyone who has an ankle sprain etc.

But my day was not a good day. Still feeling under the weather and did not go to the gym or do any videos. But I logged my time for when I go bowling tonight. I am in a league and members on my team are out. Have to have a legal line up or else. Have to tough it out and try to have a good night. It is my one night without children and husband. emoticon

Keep fighting,

@LAHUDSONCHEF:

I just finished reading the DailySpark Blog about not gaining weight while injured, and the doctor who guest-blogged it said that a good cardio workout for when you have an ankle or knee injury would be using a rowing machine. I never even think of upper body stuff when I am trying to think of cardio workouts, but that might be a good start.

emoticon Keep up the good work!

Week 4 day 6, I enjoyed a walk in the snow as part of my cardio. It is so refreshing to be outdoors for a change. My long term goal will be to do one toning video a day and 30 to 60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. I have enjoyed this team. I really needed the increase in activity to jog my long term plateau. Have a good week!

Update: Week 4, day 2... Bootcamp video done! 55 minutes! plus day 2 video for challenge. and I might sneak in the lower body pilates. I like that one because it strengthens my lower body muscles, especially around my hips. So Week 4 day 2 is complete!

I also made more of an effort to do the more advanced moves! Some i still can't do but I did try to up it a bit! So progress is being made.

Given my goals and my schedule, I'm thinking of setting myself up for toning 5+ days/week, and cardio 3 days. And just to wake up, I might start taking a short walk in the early mornings. If I can make myself get up....life-long struggle, that. emoticon

Last night, I investigated swim and spinning classes at my gym. My schedule will finally allow me to get to a class around 8am once or twice a week. So, given what's available: Spinning Intervals, Aquarobics, Zumba, I think I'll go for the bike or the pool. (I love to dance, but haven't found a love for Zumba, much prefer Line Dancing, and wish I could find a place to take social dance lessons locally.)

Healthy is my main goal. Losing weight safely is part of that.

I'm definitely seeing movement in the right direction...but, my cardio always involves a lot of dancing, running, etc, using the hips and legs a lot, which makes today's vid (Day2, Lower Body Sculpt) too difficult. I did a high intensity (for me) interval workout last night on the treadmill, and my cardio this morning was all jumping and lunging. My legs can't take another workout just now. I'll wait til tonight to see if I can do the vid.

I need cardio ideas that focus more on the upper body. Anybody got any?

Healthy is my main goal. Losing weight safely is part of that.

We're doing great! It's week four--even if there hasn't been that much change on the scale, I know I feel like I look better and I definitely FEEL better--much stronger!

There are just a couple days left for me in this Challenge, but I know I can't stop when it's done. I enjoy the toning videos so much, and I've discovered that I have time to do one or two between getting out of work and picking up my daughters from school, as long as traffic isn't crazy. Between that and training for the 5K I have registered to run in March, I know I've got a lot to keep me going. It will be my second 5K, but I think I'll be pushing my daughters in their stroller for this one, and I think I'll still be able to beat my time from my first 5K--which I was proud of, anyway!

I've got a tough couple months ahead of me, and it's gotten to the point that my workout time--even when my daughters are with me--are the time I have to take for myself. I can live without bubblebaths and shopping, but I've gotten hooked on getting my walks and video workouts done.

It's one of those things I knew I COULD do, but I never did do... until I got this Jumpstart!

Today is week 4, day 2. I am about to do my work out, mainly waiting for lunch to digest. I don't want to be sick all over the floor! Until then i am reading message boards and practicing my trumpet for my brass band! SO my lips are getting their exercise in the mean time emoticon emoticon

I am looking forward to Week 4. I will probably double up on the arm exercise videos and one of the core workouts! After the 4th week, I think I'll join the Spark Boot Camp Challenge

Last week of the team - but I think I might hang around anyway and see if I can keep myself going on this. I love the workouts I can do. And the more I try the ones I can't do the closer to being able to do them, I can get. Yesterday was real hard just walking, never mind the extra stuff.
It's helping in other directions, too. Thanks, Coach Nichol

Long-term goal:
To do 30-60 minutes of cardio 5-6 times per week (hooping, zumba, or jogging) as well as adding these SP toning vids 5-6 times per week. Make it a true life-style change!

I, too, was skeptical that theses short videos could make that much difference, but I've learned that Coach Nicole may look sweet and innocent but she's a butt-kicker in disguise! I've noticed my muscle definition has improved vastly.... heck I've noticed I HAVE muscles. So has my hubby, so he has started using the videos too! Thus the "spark" spreads....
