Think of binary. Instead of saying "failed," think "didn't work." Keep experimenting like a scientist until you find the "does work" combo.

(I also do best with a no-sugar policy, since I consider myself a sugar addict.)

You have not failed...you're still trying. Your comment is actually rather ironic, it's one of issues people talk about when making these types of life changes, i.e., gaining weight after deciding to lose weight. The mind is a powerful tool that recognizes there is a change and is resisting the change. Hang in there emoticon ... emoticon emoticon

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

You have the power to change the program to suit your needs to make sure it is working for you. The recommendations don't work for everyone the same way. For me it worked best to give up all sugar at once, not have it in the house, not replace it with anything except fat s and protein. Find what works for you through trial and error. Eventually you will know what works. Don't give up, it's perfectly normal to have to experiment.

If everyone were perfect on this challenge, there would be no need for a message board!

Simply follow week 1 guidelines. They don't require you quit eating sugar. Just do that.

You may have tried to do too much at once.

Regardless, the last thing you need right now is to be quitting this team!
