I had another culinary artist Date this evening. It was not as successful as it has been in the past but I was glad I went anyhow.

It is good to challenge yourself and I think that is what it is really all about a practice to learn to eat in moderation and with self control.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...

I don't think I will be using this tool every week because I am on a tight budget. Also since I don't have a car , transportation alone is hard and I have no restaurants in walking distance.

Either I have somehow skipped this section of the book or I have not came to it yet. I have read some of her other books and read about Artist Dates so I guess this is a spin off on that. So far I have not been using this tool.

I think that I want to go to a restaurant and eat a meal alone. I haven't done this for a very long time. My husband is an ex-chef and does most of the cooking and the restaurant choosing for us. I love this because he makes excellent food and has good taste. However, I have realized that I need to make more choices for myself if I want to be healthier and lose some weight.

Culinary Artists Walking Date

Number 1



Walked along the creek that runs by the hospital



Gallery and to Lunch



I walked from my home through a University grounds passed the hospital, through a park to the Gallery and onto Lunch. Ordering was a challenge and I found that I could not order a meal off the menu directly. I ordered a fruit salad, small baked fish and salad without dressing. I chose the restaurant for its atmosphere and ambiance AKA fireplace and running fountain felt like a luxury. The price was only eight dollars.

My husband does all the cooking. I made meatloaf, rice, peas and an arugula salad for my Culinary Artists Date last week. It was food that he never makes and that I miss. It was also low in ingredients that trigger my food sensitivities. It was actually really relaxing and satisfying to take the time and cook for myself. I usually hate cooking.

You may crave a simple cheeseburger, a calzone, or exotic Ethiopian fare. Is it a specific spice your crave? Is there a taste you long to taste? What would constitute a perfect meal for you? Plan it on the page."

What I think is interesting is it may mean a date... going out to a restaurant... but it may mean finding a recipe to tweak or signing up for a cooking course, investing in a good blender or mandolin for taking a trip to a fresh food market, or taking a road trip to a specialty food shop or"pick your own" field....

Is it about expanding your food knowledge and likes?
Is it about satisfying a craving?
It is about becoming comfortable with listening to what your body wants?
Is it about developing the skills and resources to let your body know it matters?
