When I am tired it use to trigger extra eating for me , but now I realize I am not really hungry and eating is not going to give me more energy. If anything it makes me feel more tired so I remind my self as in HALT and instead I will drink water or take a nap.

Your Spark friend Polly.

Sometimes I can feel depleted and when I do I find hope in this verse I am sharing with you.

Isaiah 40:31

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

I was hungry all day yesterday even though I ate good and did not skip a meal. Don't know why I had a raging appetite. I have days like that now and then. I will increase my meal at meal time plus eat two snack instead of my normal one. At least I kept my eating with in bounds.

The older I get, the more I notice blood sugar highs or lows. Skipping meals or having high glycemic meals make me feel bad.

Bringing snacks for the car this weekend really helped. We had breakfast at 9 AM and didn't eat dinner until 7PM.

I honestly think that the snacks should be a real lunch since I was still over-hungry at dinner time and ate more than I usually would. Maybe I will bring sandwiches and fruit for this week....

I use not to plan my snack so some days I did not have one and I was over hungry by time my next meal came around . After reading HALT I starting planning my snacks as it also helps to stop me from eating something not as good for me .

I have found that I especially need HALT on the weekends. My husband likes to skip breakfast, go out with me and do errands from 11 AM to 3 PM, not stop for lunch, and then go to Happy Hour with its cheap, unhealthy food. This leaves both of us hungry and grumpy and liable to overeat and fill up on beer. I have begun to insist on breakfast with a protein in it and a snack and water for the car. Maybe if he's less hungry and grumpy, my husband will not be tempted by Happy Hour. I know that I won't be!

The Sixth Tool is H.A.L.T. Don't get too hungry, angry/anxious, lonely or tired.

p. 48 "Task: How do you do at HALT? Take pen in hand. Set aside a half hour. This is a time for honest self scrutiny. Describe your relationship to each of the warning words in HALT. Do you get too hungry, too angry, too lonely, too tired? Are any - or all - triggers for you? What can you do to alter this fact? For example, do you need to learn the art of the cat nap? The phone call? The preemptive prayer? Often you can design a new behaviour on the page, then put it into practice in your life. You may want to check in with your Body Buddy (tool #7) to see if there is a HALT signal that you have missed. Your body buddy may have noticed a pattern that you don't see."

I have joy in my soul and joy in my step. Walk with me! Justyna
