Yes you'd just come down 65 -- I live close to one of the exchanges in Lafayette - 6-7 miles -- and it took me an hour to get to Merrillville last week. So just about 2 hours!!! So you're right it would be closer.....Who knew??!!!

Thanks Lynn -- we have 1 in Illinois. You may be right about their headquarters being in OK because every state they're in has only 1 or 2 locations except for OK (7) and CA (8). Ours is in Pekin which is 2-1/2 to 3 hours away. Might be worth the drive as a day trip. Ironically, it would be closer to go to the one in IN!!

Who knows . . . if we wander down to your neck of the woods . . . I'll let you know.

Yes it's Camille's Cafe -- home base is Oklahoma I think...not sure.

YES we were both fortunate and are finally maybe starting to get our acts together -- yeah this wedding has something to do with it -- I'm realizing how fast it's coming!

Hey Lynn . . . you mentioned Camille's at lunch. Is it called Camille's Cafe? I wanted to check and see if there are any around here, but when I google Camille's several come up. Just wondering?

And yes . . . . having salad offset the pie/cheesecake calories . . . . and we BOTH still lost weight. Life's wonderful!!

We have a place here called Camille's - it's a fairly newer chain. Much on the order of a Panera Bread but I like some of their items better. There are only 2 in Indiana - and luckily they are not too far from me!! (or is that unluckily?) But they have a good nutrition website as well.
Where Maryann and I went on Wed had nothing on their website so that kind of tells you most of the stuff is 'not healthy'....but we had our salads (and Laurie was the 1st guesser!) and they were good and the pie was yummy!!!

No SWEET TOMATOES in the NE area. Ruby Tuesday has a good salad bar, but I usually can't eat just the salad.

Enjoy, Maryann. They change their menu monthly to use produce that's in season. And they often have coupons!

OMG . . . . I just looked them up. I can't believe it -- but they're across from a mall I go to about 45 minutes away. Who knew??

I'll try them out the next I'm up there and let you know what I think. Thanks for the heads up!!

I don't eat out much these days--too expensive. But when Mom and I go, we will often split something. Restaurants seem to give servings that are definitely not for one person. Unless that person is my 18-year-old nephew, who is a bottomless pit!

One of my new favorites is Sweet Tomatoes. It's mostly healthy and they have their nutritional info posted online.

LOL, Maryann - ok ok so I'm telling my age - Bob Evans IS an 'old people' place mostly!!! I took my dd there once b/f I married my dh -- and she looked around and said mom, do you know I am the youngest person in here??!!!! BUT there food is mostly consistent - I know what I can order and stay within range or splurge on and still be healthy. Now would l love to have one of their breakfast sausage/egg/ ham and cheese/veggie omelet in a biscuit bowl??? You bet ------ but that's not going to happen any time soon!!!

Never been to Bob Evans, as I don't think we have them around here.

Went 'out to lunch' with Ed Saturday. We bought a sub from Wal-Mart, turkey & cheese, split it in half, then we both only ate half the bread. It was good, and we didn't end up with too many carbs.

Musolf - I've never been to Ruby Tuesdays. I walk past it every time I go to the mall, but I've never tried it. Guess I should give it a whirl.

Becca - Lynn is right -- if you check out their nutrition page, there are several items that are low in calories. Most of them are over the top -- but their soups and salads are within a good range. Just stay away from their desserts - lol!!

Lynn - I've haven't been to Bob Evans in forever. Seriously, I bet the last time was with my dad and he's been gone for 32 years now. I should probably check them out - I'd imagine they've changed a lot.

So looking forward to hearing from Laurie. I feel like she's been gone for months - lol!!

Take care -
Maryann

Musolf -- ohhhh, I miss Ruby Tuesdays - they closed the one in the bigger town closest to us....I loved their salad bar...and to have the caulflour sounds yummy!!!

Becca - have you looked online at the numbers for the salad bar and breadsticks at Olive Garden? If you planned right - I'm sure you could go there...

Dh took me out to Bob Evans tonite - I had their Chicken club -- we split the fries, I ate the chicken /cheese/bacon (and the veggies on top) had 1/2 the bun and brought the other half home (I love them - theyre' the ciabatta bread -- warm it up w/ my salad tomorrow)
I knew I was going so I had a 4 oz hamburger - no bun at lunch with grapes.....so I'm hoping I stayed within range again today or not too much over (Uhhhm, did I mention I got into my York mint patties??)

Can't go to Olive Garden anymore. The only thing I really like there is the soup and salad combo, and it has way too many calories.

Having teenagers, I tend to eat out more than I should. But . . . . my daughter and I try to share as often as we can! We have a restaurant chain here called "Portillo's" which is known for it's Italian beef sandwiches and hot dogs, but they have an extensive menu for a "fast food" place - including amazing salad choices. If you enjoy chocolate . . . . I mean really enjoy chocolate - they make a chocolate layer cake to die for. I don't even want to know how many calories it is - lol!! There are 31 here in Illinois, 2 in California, and 1 in Indiana. Unfortunately they do not list any nutritional information on their website.

I would think that large restaurant chains are more accommodating listing nutritional values on their websites, menus, or at their locations. It does make it difficult to make wise food choices without the information -- since we don't know what's added to food before or during preparation.

Like Lynn, if I order something that might be higher in calories or I know the portion sizes are way too much, I ask for a box when my food comes and divide it then.

One of my favorite national restaurants is Olive Garden. They have several meals I really enjoy, and their luncheon menu serves smaller portions which is great. They serve asparagus with balsamic drizzle that is amazing. I didn't think I'd like it, but it is really good. They also have symbols on the menu that show heart-healthy choices.

Since we all live in so many different areas, I think sharing restaurants is a benefit. You never know when we might be traveling and we'll have some inside information on great places to stop and eat!

Maryann

I do have favorite restaurants but since we're all around the country here -- may not have the ones I like. As a general rule though b/f I go to a place I'll go online and look to see if they have a nutrition database of their menu. I plan from there what I'm going to have

Red Lobster has a good one as does Bob Evans. I can plan a healthy meal there and if its a bit more than I'd like I ALWAYS ask for a box from the moment I order - to put half of the meal in it from the moment I get it. That way it keeps me from overeating and it's not on my plate as a temptation.

Good healthychoice restaurants if you have them in your area - Panera Bread - they list the calories right on their menu and there's a new place around here - Camilles Cafe -- it's a chain but it's only in a few states so far. I think IN only has 2 of them...I LOVE their Italian Beef panini WITHOUT the pesto mayo and the whole sandwich is 618 calories (but that's WITH the sauce) so I know when I eat it - it's less as are the 23 grams of fat...but I PLAN on that being my big meal of the day when I do have it.
