I hear you about the big place with all the supplies~ however, when the power goes off, all of that refrigerated and frozen stuff is going to go bad, quickly. I also don't think I want to be on the ground floor all the time.

I really like the whole "gated-community" thing. The prison grounds were good; they just weren't yet aware of the limitations of chain-link fencing... oh yeah, and the Governor emoticon They know now that they need to reinforce fencing with other more sturdy stuff. I also know how useful it is to have some height on some buildings for view.

Where ever I go, I want to be able to garden/farm and that needs to happen all year long so there needs to be space for hoop houses/high tunnels for growing. And it probably won't be up here in northern Ohio!

Isn't there a movie coming out about zombies in a frozen area becoming thawed or something?

Hmm, and I have thought about this question before. I really like the idea of being up high, like the people at the hospital did.
You wouldn't have to worry much about a huge herd because of all the surrounding buildings, so they couldn't get real deep like they did to push down a wall. Seems the city zombies are spread out more.
It would be easy to block off the lower floors.
You could send out scouting parties for food and even grow veggies and maybe some chickens on the roof too. Although I'd find a way to connect building roofs together for easy access.
On the other hand I love the country, so building a huge building with a moat and block walls would be nice.
Then round up some farm equipment and really plant some fields. Just have people in trucks shoot any walkers while I plow please.
Livestock would be guarded or protected inside the moat and walls. I'd raise chickens, ducks, geese and pigs for sure.

You are right about Costco, that would be a great place too. Especially as a base.

I agree with Costco.
I have already told my hubby that I probably wouldn't last too long as I am prone to the flu, but I would also have trouble without my pain medication....but then again....if you are running for your life, I am guessing you can get over a lot... emoticon emoticon

Loved your answer. Costco it is. Then it's off to BJ"S. Then Sam's. Just have to have a tank to get from one to another.

I think i would find the nearest Sams club, or Costco's and stay there. When i am out now, i look at buildings and think, if there was a zombie apocolypse, would this be a good place to stay? can it be locked up and protected? what does it have to offer? the prison had fencing, but they weren't really good for mindless things that can't feel pain. someplace with fence that aren't see through or brick or concrete cinder block is needed. You need access to water, land to plant food on and maybe a way to block off roads for herds? i am thinking i wouldnt last a month! once my pharmacy ran out of my medication for fibromyalgia, i would be useless. but at least i would have enough sense to die properly. what is your plans? do you think about these things?
