I'm using my DVDs for workouts and I'm really feeling it! There is plenty of weigh work in them so I'm not using the workout in the book as I didn't feel I could do it in good form. The fun part of each day for me is the time I can spend in my garden. The level & intensity really depends on what I'm doing.

Kind of a haphazard day for eating the meals planned as I had 2 business meetings. But I made very healthy choices with lots of veggies and enough protein to stay in range.

Today (May 21) was my youngest daughter's 8th birthday, so I threw a party with the works, hot dogs, ice cream and cake! I had no problem staying on track and keeping focused on my goal. I kept thinking about the outcome. It helped that some family members noticed I've improved. I know I can through a party and still stay within my calorie range. Also, after the party, I had energy to plant my vegetable garden. What a joy that will be when the vegetables produce. So many wonderful things to celebrate this summer! Thank you Lord and Thank you Spark.

Yesterday was Day 9 and I started out pretty cranky, everything was bothering me. I just think my motivation was wearing thin, but after I got out of work and my boyfriend and I went for a little hike, I felt much better. I do enjoy doing workout videos in the morning (so far) so I will keep that up, but for an added bonus he and I can hike and walk a few times a week. I feel much better today. Off to start day 10!

Hey Guys, I did well I ate my usual breakfast, leftover Alfredo Pasta Con Broccoli, and Speedy Texas Chili. My chili was too watery for me, I liked mine sauce thicker so next time will not use as much water. I am trying the recipes but changing days for meals depending on schedule. But I am following the plan. emoticon

Have a nice day and a good tomorrow. emoticon

Today's highlight was definitely having my husband come home. He'll be home for two weeks before he has to leave again.

The biggest challenge was knowing it was going to be an especially long day because his flight did not get in until 10pm. I'm a terrible late night snacker. I've been combating this by going to bed early, no such luck this time. Yet, I still did very good. Kept within my calorie range and not feeling deprived.

Did the strength training and I am noticing that some of the moves are getting a little easier.

We're a day behind in recipes here, so it was the alfredo for dinner. The kids loved it. Me, too much garlic, but I'm not a huge garlic fan.

Fun exercise for me is the long walks I get to take with my daughter through the nature trails. She loves riding in the stroller and looking at everything. She also loves to walk along. Also, there is nothing more fun that just playing with all three of my kids. Their laughter is always infectious and makes me want to move more.

We loved the Philly Cheese steak and decided we would make it one we would use again. The chili was also very good and we will also make it again. Looking forward to granola in the morning.

I did strength training for upper body, increased the weight to 10 lbs 2 sets of 15 on biceps, triceps & shoulders.
13 flights of stairs & cardio at the track.

Messed up with 3 Oreo cookies of stress eating after talking to my youngest son. I've got to find another outlet! Otherwise, I ate on plan.

Move over MacMuffin, MacRoz loves the Spicy Tomato-Egg Muffin. The Lean Philly Cheesesteak was too good. YUMMY! The Speedy Turkey Chili was savory (lots left over). Loved the Caprese Salad. Was so stuffed by dinnertime. emoticon

Preparing the recipes are getting much easier or I'm getting better at this! emoticon

While doing a few chores around the house or in between preparing meals I do a few squats, wall pushups, stretches, etc., to music! emoticon emoticon

Mmm....Philly rocked!

Fun fitness tonight? It's not super exciting, but I rarely have time to take a walk by myself. However, I have an errand to run that will give me a 2.5 mile loop. It's 75 degrees and sunny (in Wisconsin!--weird!)

I had one oddity today: bloating. I'm drinking more water to counteract it.

For fun type of activity, I like to crank up the music and dance. My daughter runs a daycare and I work there every afternoon. I love playing with the kiddos and working up a sweat. There's a favorite book they love me to read where we act out all the parts as I'm reading. Usually by the end of the story we are all happy and exhausted.

For the past few months, I've not been able to keep up with them because of some health issues I was having. For a while, it was all I could do to just put one foot in front of the other to keep moving.

But I'm slowly regaining my health and now, thanks to Spark Solution, I'm also regaining my energy. I feel good for the first time in a long time! emoticon

I substituted all the meals today, but kept within my nutrition targets and healthy veggies, fruits, protein, carbs and fats, I got two hours of exercise in the garden and around the house and did 14 min yoga stretching so happy with the way things have gone today. 3lbs down so far, so good progress.

Mmmm, philly cheesesteak was good too. The thyme was just the right spice in this.

For fun -- My exercise plan is based firmly on my Wii. What could be more fun than getting up every morning and playing video games? It sounds really corny, but I love it, and it has worked for me. I figure it is better to do something that you like and stick with, than to force yourself to do something you hate and will not continue with.

I also like to ride bikes with my husband. We ride recumbent bikes (fixes that sore seat problem). Sunday we rode 50 miles, Monday evening we rode 24. It is a great workout, and fun to do together.

Every day, every week, and every month is a new chance to make a difference -- in your life, in your self, and in others.

Last night was a perfect example of how exercising can be fun. My husband, brother and I went for a bike ride on a trail we haven't been to before. We all enjoy riding our bikes normally, but we agreed that between getting all of us to ride together, the new trails' fun curves and the beautiful weather, it was so much FUN. After 6 miles, I had to stop because my seat was no longer comfortable at all, but muscle wise we all agreed we could have just kept riding until the sun went down without complaint.

On the other hand, strength training is not something I have found much joy in. . .but I know that the muscle build up helps me in the "fun" activities, so I will put in the time.

I left the sauce off of my egg breakfast sandwich and replaced the canadian bacon with a strip of low sodium regular bacon. It was delicious! I have a later Zumba class tonight, so I prepared the chili and will just have to reheat it for tonight's dinner. It smelled amazing. I'm also looking forward to the philly cheesesteak sandwich.

I am enjoying this two week plan. But I have to be honest. With working very long hours at work, following my exercise plan, and just regular "things to do", I find the amount of cooking exceptionally hard. I did make a number of things ahead, which certainly helps, but some things really need to be prepared fresh.

My solution? I've been freezing the servings that my husband and I haven't eaten for later consumption. I'm substituting two meals from last week (leftovers) for a couple of meals that didn't interest me and/or my husband wouldn't eat. I think I will plan next week with some meals from each week and some other pre-prepared meals that I've made from my healthy cookbooks, like Sparkpeople and the 400 Calorie Fix and make some of them "no cook".

Welcome to Day 9

Breakfast was good, but I have always been making better egg muffins than the McVersion :) Not sure the sauce actually added anything but to make it messier.

I am looking forward to my Philly for lunch!

I succumbed to the Grab and Go snack table at my hotel and had two dinner-plate size chocolate chip cookies. Of course they didn't contain nutrition information so I tracked them as being three Subway cookies. That put me over my calorie range but only +1 for a calorie differential on the day. I was still within range for carbs, protein and fat. So it was a minor set back but nothing worth crying over.

I'm eating my fruit salad and Mexican Breakfast Burrito that I packed now. Who know what they'll be serving for lunch at the conference. I am taking a yogurt and apple with peanut butter for a snack and having sushi with a friend who lives in this city for dinner. I hope they have brown rice!

Good luck with day nine everybody!

Do not post in this thread before Day 9 (May 21)

Find something fun! That's the Habit of Fit People you'll read about today. What do you do to get your body moving or make yourself healthier that's also (gasp!) fun? Do you hula hoop in the back yard? Get the family involved in making dinner? Walk with a friend at lunch? Share your best tips! (And if you need help finding something fun, ask!)

Each day, we ask you: "What were the highlights of your day? What were the challenges? How can you use today’s highs and lows to make tomorrow better and easier?" Today, share those here, with your fellow readers.

NOTE: To track your strength training moves today, go to your Fitness Tracker. Click "Enter your own exercise." Custom exercise: "The Spark Solution" Spark Swaps Strength Workout. Select "strength" from the dropdown. Add the number of minutes it took you to complete the workout. For calories burned, we estimate 108 for a 165-pound woman. You can use that or use your tracker to figure out how many calories you burn per minute lifting weights.

TIP: Make Tomorrow Easier
Make Quick and Easy Granola (page 165) tonight, so it’s ready for tomorrow’s breakfast. And prep the chicken for tomorrow’s lunch, if you don’t have some ready.
