Debra I am so glad you are fine. You do not ever need to apology when this is not in your hands. God Bless You. Do not rush. You will start to move more after your doctor says so.

Hey, guys. I'm sorry that I've been absent from the boards the past few days. I had a heart attack early Thursday morning, the 16th. Have been in the hospital and had 3 stents put in. I just got home from the hospital yesterday evening and am trying to decide how much of what I have learned I can translate to post- heart attack. I think the biggest question will be how much exercise I can safely do at the moment, but plan to ask my cardiologist and I know he plans to get me into cardiac rehab

I did the intervals on a stationary bike. Watched the time throughout the whole workout but felt great after and happy I completed it.

Day 10 was yesterday and I had another good day. Did a Cardio DVD for 40 minutes and stayed within calorie range, it was tough because I was starving an hour before lunch but somehow I made it (I had left over protein pancakes from the other day). I think what keeps me motivated is the message boars make me feel accountable because I have never come close to following something this long without giving into overeating.

Exercising is easy, I didn't like today's food, at all. I'm one that has to stick to the exact plan so I ate it but didn't get in the calories as I didn't eat that much of it. Since I am one to not improvise I am glad it is almost over. I am glad I did it and when it is over I will start playing with it and improvising.

Today I used the SparkPeople 28-Day Boot Camp Video... the total body workout... I worked as hard as I could and as a result was exhausted for the rest of the day. Counter productive! My right hip hurts (again)... I am thrilled that I am 2/3rds of the way through this and I am working very had to not be disappointed in myself and the program right now.

Today was a chaotic day. I don't think I was home until after dinner time and by that point very hungry.

Thankfully I already had planned ahead and had some turkey thawing. The husband was begging for more lean philly cheesesteak, but we settled for the inside out burgers again this week because they cook up quick. Made them with less onion this time and loved them.

Kept within my calorie range and did all my exercise. Got in lots of NEAT with all the walking around the car dealerships we had to do.

I am studying the book. Good tips included in there!! emoticon I received DVDs (Thank you) and am trying to be disciplined with my Exercise. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am right there with you when days don't go as planned. From 2 meetings yesterday that
required me to eat away from home to an early morning ambulance run right at my usual breakfast time, my last 2 days have been topsy-turvy.
I alternated between walking and running several times today, doing my ST on my breaks,
trying to get back into sync with my work routine and then having to cover all the bases at home since DH is gone for 2 days.
No matter what, I stayed on track with nutrition and logged 200 minutes of cardio.

DON'T BE NORMAL! BE YOU!

Day 10 - I'm in the middle of enjoying the grilled pineapple with toasted coconut emoticon I love so many of the recipes! The Thai Peanut Noodles were not a big hit with the family but I liked them.
My fridge has been so full the last 10 days! I've been taking the leftovers each night and freezing portions of them for lunches and dinners. Nice to know that I have quite a few things to fall back on when things don't go as planned!

Frann533 - no way sparkers would vote you off the team! I would have forgotten how to find the team I would have been voted off so long ago! I have the greatest admiration for people who stick to the program and manage to lose significant amounts of weight. I've lost 7 pounds since the beginning of the year and that's the most I've ever lost, short of giving birth. :)

I love the encouragement I receive, especially through the SparkCoach program. Please feel that whatever baby steps you can make, you're doing it! Even something as simple as choosing a glass of water instead of sweet tea should be celebrated.

I would really like another book that's more seasonally focused. I can eat strawberries, wonderful tomatoes and all the salad greens possible now. How about a Spark Solution for the Halloween chocolate through Super Bowl spread season? When exercise consists of hoping the plow doesn't plow in your driveway, again? :)

I am glad i am not alone in getting side tracked on the challenge i thought i was the only one that slipped up. felt like i was the one you vote off on the show the biggest loser and i was going to hear those awful words you are not the biggest loser. and they send you to pack your bags.
i have enjoyed trying several of the recipes and the inside out burger is a favorite along with chocolate chip banana bread the chicken and rice is also a do again those are just a few. glad the book doesn't disappear in 14days emoticon

Been there, done that. Last Friday and Saturday were similar for me to another member who had a conference with prepared food. I do have to say the breakfast cookies, while not particularly yummy, certainly did the trick one morning.

Tomorrow I hope I'm alert enough in the morning to weigh myself! :)

Thai Peanut Noodles was AMAZING! It took me a lot longer than 10 minutes to prepare (cutting up veges, shredding carrots, zesting limes, etc. etc.) Plus my 8 year old daughter is my side chef, so I let her help. It was worth every minute of it. If nothing else, the book is well worth the recipes. I have not had a bad one yet.

Actually, I love the book. Has some great tips and motivation in it too. Just keeps getting better.

I did get up at 6 am and ran 2 miles on the treadmill and then ball crunches, I actually wanted to work out again this evening, but decided I better clean my kitchen instead. LOL!

Spark Cheers!

Had the Philly Cheesesteak today. Both DH and I loved it. I'll be adding that to my list of favorites.

Weather has been terrible all week, rainy and cold so no outside walking. But I managed to get in a half hour on the treadmill this afternoon. Still hoping to change it up and get my exercise done in the morning.

I'm so glad I bought this book and so thankful for Sparkpeople.

When I can not eat what I planned. I concentrate on portion and servings. When eating out I try to order condiments, dressing, sauces on the side and eat small portions or order from the children menu if they let me. emoticon

At home I feel I am in more control. But still in all I work hard on knowing what a serving is and work on portion size. Now I have been looking at dessert servings what an eyeopener. emoticon

I am off schedule did cardio yesterday and will do tomorrow. Sorry. I did Pump & Burn totally awesome. emoticon

Talk about things not going as planned... Easy one for me today. I just came out of two days of training on site with catered lunches. Additionally I had a vendor dinner last night to attend. Things got a little derailed food wise, but I didn't gain any more and getting "my food" back tomorrow makes me feel SO much better. Exercise time is still my biggest challenge. last night I was gone from 7 am - 10 pm, so no workout at all. Tonight at least I can get in some martial arts training and hit my gazelle. I just keep working on that commitment to work it in, and I know it will come.

Today was a good day preparing meals and loved the Thai Peanut Noodles. Preparing dinner was much easier than I thought it would be. The sauce was so delicious. I make to much out of looking into the daily recipes preparations. So far, and I can't believe that this two week challenge is almost over, I got a little stressed in the beginning, but I'm hanging in there. When I see the results and think that I prepared this meal, YES, I do pat myself on the back!

I am also enjoying reading these posts! I've gotten de-railed a couple times during the challenge, but I have really focused on talking to myself and examining WHY I got off track (sometimes it was something I couldn't necessarily control, other times it was). I've also analyzed how I could have made healthier choices for a more positive outcome, because I WILL be faced with these situations again!

Side note: I really wish I would have planned on making more of the recipes during this challenge! Tomorrow night we are making the onion-stuffed burgers and I can't wait. LOVE BURGERS. I think I will re-start with another two-week challenge and try more of the recipes!

Stay positive.
Do not give up.

The day went pretty good
Got my cardio and neat in
Tried to make granola, got all ingredients in put it in the microwave, got it out at 2 min and it was burnt! I had missed the part about not adding coconut til the end. I made it this afternoon with some yogurt for a snack. Very good
I'm having the leftover chili tonight. That was awesome

This is a good day to talk about things not going as planned, as I have just returned from a two day business trip.

Monday, my first night in the hotel I had everything planned out down to what I was going to order from a near by restaurant that fit closely with a Spark Swaps meal (with the exception of Sodium). I got to the hotel and executed my dinner perfectly. Then I picked up two huge cookies from the lobby. Still, my calorie differential for the day was still just +1, it could have been much worse.

Tuesday I woke up to some fruit salad and a Spark Swaps breakfast I had brought with me. Perfect. I tossed an apple with PB in my bag for a snack during the conference and I signed in at the conference requesting a vegetarian lunch with the theory that it would be lighter than the traditional lunch. It probably was. I was served a small helping of spaghetti with a chunk tomato sauce and steamed veggies, the other diners got smothered chicken with their veggies. I also ate the green salad with Italian (only other option was ranch) and skipped the dinner roll. Then the damn cheesecake seduced me. I tracked everything the best I could and then hit the hotel fitness room to try and burn back some of the calories. I meet a friend for sushi for dinner. We got to talking and I forgot to request brown rice, oh well. We then went walking through a nearby botanical garden for some added NEAT but as soon as I was back I'm the hotel alone I squirreled away another big cookie. Calorie differential for Tuesdsy was +104.

Today I am back on track. Again I had packed my breakfast and a snack and I was able to make it home in time for lunch, but I was pretty hungry so I made the Better BLT from last week, skipping the sauce. Then I took a cardio walk.

For dinner I made the Alfredo from Monday that I missed, it was pretty good (though it would be better with salt and more cheese...)

I'm on track today to finish within my Calabria range and with a big -715 calorie differential, wiping out the damage I did yesterday. I'm back and stronger than ever.

I am SO inspired by reading through today's thread. It's easy to stay motivated when life goes as planned and everything is hunky-dory, but when you have hurdles to overcame AND stay motivated, that's when the real lessons are learned. Way to go, team!

I know I've been missing in action, but I had to post about my activity today. I did 30/30 on the elliptical ... 30 seconds of "walking" (40 rpm) and 30 seconds of "sprinting" (67 or above). There were 5 intervals in a set with 3 minutes of walking in between. The whole session was 33 minutes. It was the bomb. The sweat was dripping off me. Exercise helps me make better food choices too. I haven't been following the food plan (I'm not a prepper so much). But I had seaweed salad and stuffed grape leaves for lunch.

Congrats to all you folks who are losing weight and sticking to this plan. I'm thinking of starting the 2 weeks over.

I ate the Spicy Tomato Muffin because I didn't get it made yesterday & also if I eat carbs even with peanut butter for protein for breakfast, I run out of energy fast. Once in awhile, I'll do it, but I try not to very often. My family all liked the Thai noodles, I couldn't believe it! I'd never used bok choy, but probably had it in Chinese restaurants & didn't know it & I liked it.

I was out late last night. I didn't have motivation or energy to make the granola, or plan for my items for today. This put me off on the wrong foot. This morning I was tired, and skipped my exercise too. Wow really out of sorts. First time I have skipped exercise in months.

I did make a last minute effort at recovery. I had the Sweet and Creamy English Muffin again, as I really liked that one, I had the stuff, and it was super easy. I made a grab of a leftover portion of Southwest Chicken from the freezer, and a container of fresh fruit. Its still possible that I can get some exercise in this evening. I think I am getting back on track now.

Every day, every week, and every month is a new chance to make a difference -- in your life, in your self, and in others.

The school provided boxed lunches to us today during testing. I decided not to pack my own, after all, how bad could it be? 603 calories bad apparently! Yikes. The kids called it "prison food." No wonder we have childhood obesity issues- a carb heavy lunch that kids think needs double the servings.

But I will do intervals tonight on cardio to help boost the burn, and I won't snack unless I am really and truly hungry.

While we are 2/3 of the way finished with the program, I feel like I am just at the beginning of a healthier life. Watching calories, really thinking about food groups is something I need to continue to do for much longer than just the two weeks.

I am the poster child for it didn't go as planned. But, my one day totally off track proves to me that the healthy lifestyle is more than the scale, it;'s about all day energy, satisfied food relationship and overall health in general. I am back today. I did a healthy breakfast, and then did intervals on the treadmill. I am off to shower and go to work, determined to have a good day.

Today's sidebar, When Life Doesn't Go as Planned, is one of our favorites. It illustrates why "diets" donít work and why so many people give up. Life happens, and sometimes you don't see the results you want to see as fast as you'd like to see them. How are you keeping your expectations in check and coming up with solutions to the problems you encounter? (And how can we help?) How are you overcoming these hurdles?

(Can you believe you're 2/3 done with the program as of tonight? Pat yourself on the back. WooHoo!)

Today's workout is cardio intervals, alternating between high and low intensity. What did you do? Did you challenge yourself with intervals or go easy on yourself? How did you feel during and after the intervals? (Did you remember to warm up, cool down, and stretch?)

TIP: Make Tomorrow Easier
Bake the Breakfast Casserole Cups (page 151) tonight and reheat in the morning.
