Welcome AMCDUGGER! emoticon

I loved the challenge and the book/plan. I think it is easy to follow. I did have leftovers, but that's just a bonus as far as I'm concerned, Plus, I didn't care for all the recipes, so the extras kept me on track.

I am hoping the do another challenge, maybe for the fall.

Stick with it, it works!

4 days in the second time around. Lost 4 pounds the first time, but had a business trip toward the end of it. Gained a couple back, but was surprised that I did not gain more as went back to some old habits. The Solution is so easy to come back to. Have lost 2 pounds so far putting me back to where I ended the first go round. More motivated and enjoying the foods. Will try some more recipies over the weekend and cook ahead some left overs for next week. Rode my bike in to work this morning. 6 Miles mostly uphill!!! My family will be gone for the 4th so plan to really stick to the plan as just me to worry about. Keep going everyone. TOGETHER we can do this. emoticon emoticon

Yes,...I'm late as usual. This is the first time I've been active on SP....got the book, read half of it...started on Day 1, but I really hadn't gotten/prepared for the recipes. I ended up substituting many things in for the meal plan.

I've always been hesitant about "tracking" everything that goes in my mouth. Although, I'm finding (so far anyway) that if I log all food that I eat and really pay attention in using the totals to keep track of "how many more grams/calories I can have", I am not having to sweat not having the exact meal/recipe as in the book.

I do need to go to the book and start following along more consistently though, b/c I've not been getting the ST in that needs to be happening. ....Right now, it's not really hurting me to stick with cardio with my little fitbit, BUT....I'm guessing that the only reason cardio onl is not hindering me now is b/c I just came from such a sedentary phase in my life. Doing ANY activity is bound to jump start some kind of positive change ...at least initially.

This is also the first time I've ever been on any kind of website/blogging-type medium so this, *hopefully* will yield great changes and increased motivation in my healthy lifestyle makeover!

**And yes, you guessed it. I'm the last one who has not joined Facebook. :)

emoticon Day 4-Well we are officially more than half way through the first week. Did ok in every area today except the strength training. I'm struggling with that one. I think I will check the fitness area and find some different exercises that I will enjoy more! Do well tomorrow friends!

Wasn't able to get on here for a few days, but I did stay on-plan. I loved the Curried Tuna Salad recipe! I haven't cared for tuna since my last pregnancy almost 15 years ago, but this made it more than just palatable to me again. YAY!

Just doing the next thing,

Exercise wise, I did great yesterday. Up earlier than usual. Jogged for 3 miles, and I am NOT a runner. Walked a couple of miles. Push mowed for 90 minutes I earned my next fitbit patch for 35,000 steps in one day. My thighs were a bit sore from yesterday, so for strength I opted to pull and dig weeds. As hard as the ground is that is definitely an upper body and core workout.

The Bacon-Swiss Scramble was my favorite recipe. I'm used to having almost double the fiber count as I got today, and eating a lot more fresh fruits and veggies. I miss them.

I like to imagine myself sitting or bending over without huge stomach folds getting in my way. I don't do photos on my phone, and am not interested in learning how.

Still conferencing....but ate thoughtfully. I thought I would take a dip in the pool at my motel. The pool is behind the building, and lo and behold! I found that they had filled it in and made a garden!

I stayed within my calorie range today, drank 9 cups of waster, did pretty good on the NEAT minutes & tracked my food, etc. I did not have a chance to workout before I left for work & was too exhausted to do it afterwards, but 4 out of 5 is pretty good!

I made the Curried Tuna Salad today for Lunch, but used chicken instead & it was delicious!
I also took advantage of the thunderstorm (it really cooled things off here) and baked the breakfast cookies & casserole cups for later in the week.

Keep up the great work, team!

Day 3 went pretty well. Cardio wore me out because I did it at work today. 30 minutes of up and down stairs and through the two buildings. My legs are pretty sore tonight. Had the berry cobbler for snack and it was pretty good. Didn't expect to much like it because I'm not overly fond of blueberries, but I did.
Going to bed early tonight, so have a great time this evening and a great day tomorrow!

Day 2 went well for the food. I was at the lower end of the calorie range. Substituted Kashi Go Lean for oatmeal because it was in the 90s here. Too hot for oatmeal. The calorie count is just about the same. Still struggling with the exercise. Wanted to walk but it has been either too hot or rainy. Will try tomorrow.

Day 2 and I'm still struggling......Painting was my physical activity and it was a LONG day of it! I ate better because I was at home, but I still snacked a bit more than I should. I didn't get to eat dinner until 7:30 and by then I was starving! I ate a bowl of cereal, which I think was a better choice than I usually make when dinner is that late. All I can do is continue to be more aware of my choices, which I am. When the painting is done (should be by Friday), I can start to get back into a routine.

I didn't follow the entire day 2 diet. I sort of did breakfast with the oatmeal, but then we went on a picnic, so the rest of the day was no where near the book.
I did follow the ST in the book however.

I want to keep up with my posting progress - even though this is late. Day 2 was rough. I ate within range but ran out of time to exercise. I felt awful. I spent the day driving to get my son from baseball camp (5 hours +) and hoped I would have time to exercise when I got back. It didn't work out - other running around plans got in the way. Dinner was at 10pm - very late for me. I hope to do better Day 3.

Hi everyone!
Day 2 went really well. I did the strength workout in the book. My shoulders were so sore! But it was well worth it. I managed to do all the exercises but the plank to pike was the most challenging.I also took my dog out for a walk. The weather is finally nice to do it.
The only thing I ate that followed the meal plan was the almonds; I like almonds.
As for what I imagined... me being in a bikini and being proud of wearing it. I have worn them in the past but I always felt self-conscious. To not feel that way would be phenomenal!
I haven't put a picture up yet of my motivation. I have been meaning to make a motivational poster for months but something always comes up. I will try tonight if not, it will be done on the weekend.
Lets see... I have been pausing with my meals for a while. The only time I haven't today was when I ate that kitkat. My body went on auto and just ate it. I didn't even enjoy it. It was given to me and I guess I blanked out and ate it without really noticing it. Weird. I will just tell him a firm no next time. Take the whole process/temptation out.
In all, not a bad day. Was within all my ranges for food. Did all that exercise. Had a decent night's sleep. It's working well for me.

Thanks for reading!

Kerrie

I did quite well on Day 2. The strength training from the book had me sweating but there was only one exercise I couldn't do. - Could not go from the pushup to side plank - guess I'll have to keep trying.
The food suggested is so filling and really stays with me - I was down below my calorie range for both day 1 and day 2 so had to add some extra fruit to get up to 1500 calories.
The major difference in the nutrition tracker is that the carbs in the Spark Solution meal plans are a lot less than what I was eating.
I am so pleased that I decided to try this Spark Solution. I really do think it is the solution for me.

Day 2 went really well for me. I am not following all of the food plan from the book but am using things from the site because I have a lot of the food already. I was able to track all of my food and hit my goals. I am did cardio on day 2 because I did not start on Monday.....so I will work the strength training in on Day 3. Definitely not my favorite but needs to be done lol. Got my steps over 10,000 (that is 2 times this week). That is huge for me because I was averaging only 4000. That tells me I am definitely moving more. I was actually really tired last night and was happy to hit the bed. On to Day 3! emoticon

Day 2 got off to a good start, but then things happened, and I wasn't able to get much of the Strength exercises in. I did stick to my meal plans, though. I wasn't wild about the Quick Chicken Enchiladas and had to adapt the recipe a bit--the corn tortillas I got were too small to stuff for the enchiladas, so I turned it into a lasagna-style casserole. The sauce was just too oniony for our tastes.

Looking forward to Day 3!

I know that God won't give me more than I can handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much.

Day 2 update:
I did not go back to try any of the exercises from the book that I skipped. The spirit was willing, but the body was done for. But I did do the 20 minute resistance band workout, and got LOTS of NEAT minutes in, walking to the grocery store and taking extra time shopping once I got there. I did not walk home, but arranged for my roommate to come pick me up when I called him (aren't cell phones wonderful?). This was my first day trying to do any walking outdoors since I sprained my ankle on a hiking trail a couple weeks ago, so I didn't want to push things too far before I knew how the healing was coming along. I thought I HAD pushed too far last night, it was all swollen and sore again, but this morning it's better so I guess I was just doing healing therapy.

It looks like everyone else is managing this challenge without a hitch - am I the only one who is modifying practically everything? Not that it matters, I know I'm doing the best that I can do. I am adding a goal to strive for, hopefully a very short-term goal; I want to be able to wear, in comfort, the jeans that I told my stepmother would fit when she gave them to me at x-mas. As a reminder, I have them hanging on the rail over my stairway.

Did not do so well today. I am trying to follow the meal plan exactly to open myself up to trying new foods or trying foods I didn't think I liked in different combos to see if I would eat them. Well today was not a good choice. I tried the oatmeal but could only finish about 1/4 of it. I did eat the Curry Tuna. It was okay but not my favorite. I was not really thrilled with the Chicken enchiladas. But I did eat them. But I didn't feel satisfied I broke down and ended up hitting the drive through at 10pm. Not good. But tomorrow is a new day and I will be right back on track.

today went more smoothly since, for some reason, I didn't need to consult the book as often as I did on day 1. (I hope I completed all properly.) Feeling good because of what I'm doing and how I'm doing it.
Looking forward to day 3.

I was on the go all day. Did some of my exercise when before I went out. When I came in late afternoon. I thought I was too tired to finish the exercise. BUT I had made a commitment and finished up before supper. I am so glad I did as it wasn't exhilarating to know I could do it.

Day 2 went well! I am not following all the recipes completely but am following the general guidelines... also getting plenty of exercise and extra water in... Struggling with getting enough sleep in.. but that's nothing new for me...

I don't usually post, but I finally decided to get serious about starting a healthy new way of living and I thought this might help me be more accountable for my actions. So here I am with day 2 complete and still haven't followed the recipes to a tee, but it's helped me to be more concious of the foods I do choose to eat and stay with in my calorie range. -baby steps-

Day 2 accomplished. Stayed within calories range for my 5' 1" body. Did all the strength exercises but I''m not sure how well I did the pushup to side plank (pushups are not my thing) emoticon

Day 2 was a bust! Started off ok but by 11:00 I got sick (some virus bug) couldn't eat, ran fever and slept all day and night. Hope today goes better but have got to get strength back. I will have to take it slow and listen to my body and stomach.

Day 2 of The Spark Solution.

Today is supposed to be my "easy" day because I actually get off of work on time and get to go home and relax for a few hours. Unfortunately, it didn't work that way. I love The Spark Solution food, but honestly, I wish I had more discipline and prepared most of it over the weekend. Or at least, I wish I decided to double meals to eat multiple times during the week. I got home and spent the rest of the evening cooking food for tomorrow's lunch and dinner since I will not be home to make them. I'm determined to make my meal plan work though.

I ate late, and ended up doing my strength training after dinner. It wasn't the best idea, but I'm glad I got it done. I always think of strength training as easier than cardio for some reason because you're not so out of breath. I forget how tough it actually is. My biggest problem today was not preparing enough snacks for the afternoon. I was famished by the time I got home and it didn't help with my urge to overeat. I restrained myself for the most part, but I had a few guilty bites here and there unfortunately.

Ultimately, I have to remember, tomorrow is a new day, and I'm happy with the choices I made today. Day 3, here I come!

Today food wise went great. Exercise didn't happen (see my blog for that story). I am frustrated, but I won't let it get me down. I will say this morning had a last minute save. I woke up a little late, and ran out of time to make my oatmeal. Normally that would have been a great justification to stop by Santiago's and pick up a breakfast burrito (or two - they are SO good). It happened that I had picked up some Jimmy Dean D-light sandwiches Sunday so I didn't have to cook breakfast while I prepped the rest of the food. Hooray, Quick breakfast and likely healthier than the burritos. I don't prefer frozen foods like that, but it sure worked in a pinch emoticon Now its off to bed for me to start tomorrow anew.

Feeling much better today. Started off with the oatmeal, almonds, and blueberries (no sugar for me, brown or otherwise), but did not do the lunch or dinner. For lunch, I had the same as yesterday, because I liked it so much (turkey/swiss on whole wheat). For dinner, a friend took me out to McAlisters, and I had half a baked potato with angus beef and cheese, and half a chef's salad. Yummy. For snack, greek yogurt and raspberries.
I stayed under 1500 calories total, under 150 g of carbs. I also went swimming for 25 minutes. After swimming, my blood sugar was only 84, and a few hours after dinner, it was only 128. I think this is the first day in quite a while that I was able to keep my blood sugar under 150. Very happy about it!
I just haven't really gotten into the strength and stretching. Everything else is going well.

Yesterday went well, I did Cardio Abs for my workout yesterday.
Today hasn't been as good. I'm still in my calorie range, but I really struggled.
My exercise: Jessica Smith's Kickboxing for weightloss; 1/2 of her Metabolic conditioning; and The Spark Swap strength workout. I had a bit of trouble with the stable table, but did better the second time through.

I've noticed for some time now that I now really enjoy the taste of real food. Popcorn without all the oil, salt etc.

Today went pretty well. I had to play fast-and-loose with the eating plan in places, but I still stayed right at 1600 calories and had a wider variety of foods than I habitually do, because of the meal suggestions. I should not have bought all the food for the week at once, though, because some of the fresh greens are already starting to wilt! That is a pitfall of fresh produce, but it does taste very good!

My day 2 didn't go too well. I was hungry from the moment I finished my oatmeal. I didn't have almonds and substituted walnuts instead which made the calorie count higher - OOPS! Lunch I repeated from yesterday although i was so hungry I added a piece of whole grain bread, and made it until 2:30 before I had a snack. I haven't been able to take time to make specific snacks and need to find a better way to make the well planned snacks work for me. My DH wanted us to do some projects around the house and so I didn't go on my scheduled walk and dinner ended up being late and I didn't have time to make food so we had leftovers which by the end of the day I was over my calorie count AND hungry.

I am discouraged that I did so poorly on only day 2, but i will keep trying because I know I can do better.

DAY 2- I have really put my all into making sure i exercise. I did 15 minutes on my recumbent bike, swimming in the pool for 45 minutes with 15 of those minutes being strength training with a noodle. lol. I didn't stretch which I know that is important. Feels good too. Maybe before I go to bed. Anyway, my eating went okay but I am still eating out of my calorie range. :( I too have this book on my kindle and feel frustrated with it. I am not sure if it's the kindle or the book itself. I am pretty sure it's the kindle. I feel like I get lost in the book and have to back track and then lose track of where I am exactly and don't see the plan for the whole day. I am going to read that part over again but I can only see bits and pieces of week one. Well off to bed. I'll talk to you all on day 3. emoticon

Day 2 in the bag! Again I didn't eat exactly what was on the menu but I did eat very responsibly and logged everything. I did some of the strength workout per the program. I did squats/reach, curtsy lunges, modify jumping jacks, and several more. Can't wait until tomorrow, I am pumped!

Feeling positive!!
Biggest challenge - the weight training - boy does that show how out of shape I am. Hard to even get my body to move and do some things. But looking at today as a first step - and things will get better each step of the way!!!
Usually I am on the scale every day... but have stepped back and plan on doing that once a week!! I have realized I get too wrapped up in that number!!

Day two went much better than day one, which went okay, exercise-wise. However, the food was a bit of a challenge (uhum, extravagance) on day one. Day two was much better!

To prepare for this challenge, I read the book, made a shopping list, and bought most of what was on the list. The only meat I eat is fish, so I bought non-meat proteins and tilapia instead of the other meats on the list. I exercise regularly and realize I need to mix it up from time to time, so I do. However, the main area I need help with is food!

For exercise, I went for a run and two walks yesterday. Today, I started off the day with Body Pump and then went for two walks later (one at a moderate pace and one at a vigorous pace).

Overall, things are going well, and I'm feeling very motivated!

I had a great day.
I got up and exercised then fixed the oatmeal.
I made the smoothie and Quick chicken enchiladas this evening. I have a picture of enchiladas on my blog.
The smoothie was my favorite today.
I have a dress I wore 6 years ago and have it for my motivation. I want to be able to wear it again.
I'm ready for day #3!

I've got the Kindle version, too, but I've started to use the Bookmark feature, and that helps you go to the pages you want quickly. You can delete the bookmarks, too, once you don't want to return to the specific day or recipe or whatever....

Day 2 went really well. I am amazed that I am just not hungry. I have been eating in this calorie range for at least 6 months, but the balance of foods must be different. I just did not havethe time or inclination to make the chicken enchiladas, so I prepared a meal with about the same number of calories and distribution of protein, fat, carbs and fiber. I won't do it often, but it's nice to know that I can do that.

Best of all I fit in my exercise. I did a 15-minute WATP DVD followed by a 20-minute strength DVD focusing on upper body. It was a real eye opener to realize that two years ago I was lifting 5 to 15 lbs, and today it was 2 to 5, but I promised myself last week that I would start where I am, and I did. Better too easy than injured!. My pushups and planks were all modified versions, but the good thing is that I did them.

I agree that the Kindle version of The Spark Solution is annoying, but I found that if I return to the Table of Contents, I can quickly go to wherever I want to be in the book. And if I want a recipe, I simply put it in my tracker, click on 'see recipe," and then print it out.

I applaud those of you who work fulltime or have families to cook for. I am retired, and my DH is a healthy eater who is trying to lose about 5 more pounds (after losing 40 pounds in four years.)

My enchiladas are never pretty--but they tasted good! I really liked the new salsa created by puree-ing the jarred salsa (I used a salsa verde) with the garlic, onion, bell pepper, etc. Looking ahead to tomorrow, I remembered to take the ground beef out of the freezer (for me, that's a big accomplishment!) emoticon

Day 2 - Feeling Sparked! emoticon
Worked out this morning, went to a long postponed doctor's appointment (I want to be at my best, and despite working out and eating well I'm worried about my stomach), and ate well. This evening, instead of coming home after dropping one of my kiddos off at a rehearsal, I took the dog for an evening stroll at a lake near by and walked her for two hours on the beach. Woohoo! Much better than sittin' around! I feel so happy and alive! The sunset was gorgeous, the dog liked diving in after Canada Geese, and it was inspiring to see the rowing crews work together.

A job begun is half done.

How did yesterday go?
Yesterday went REALLY well. So much easier when you have the day off.
What did you do for your workout?
I took a serious walk outside for 30 minutes, but I pushed myself to make sure the entire 30 minutes I walked was a 7 or 8 onthe exertion scale.
Which recipe was your favorite?
The Quick chicken Enchiladas son riquisimas!!! Especially with garlic/lime salsa verde.

Today's Mind-Set Makeover asks you to envision yourself doing something at your goal weight that you can’t do at your current weight. What did you imagine? My son has lived in china the past 2 years. He wants me to come visit him next year. I have been too embarrassed to buy a plane ticket because NO ONE wants to sit for 14 hours next to the really big girl. My vision is to fit into an airline seat comfortable.

Our Motivation Makeover suggests you put a picture of your motivation on your phone or within sight. What did you choose? I just put a photo of an airplane.

Did you pause before taking a bite during your meals and snacks today? Did you notice a difference in your enjoyment of food in doing so? Which other senses were heightened by this exercise? The smells of the enchiladas were awesome. I really savored each and every bite.

Today was your first strength workout. How did it go? Which move was the most challenging?
Push-ups with side planks are KILLER!! I did two on each side and then finished with straight pushups. I did all other exercises slowly, but correctly.

There is nothing you're successful at that you didn't work at EVERY day -- Will Smith.

I have been staying within the guidelines for the calories, but haven't actually made these recipes.

Rather than typing everything in again, I'll post a link to my blog page where I talk about some of the frustrations I am experiencing.

Day 1 went great.

Day 2: Loved the oatmeal this morning. Had leftover Southwestern Chicken Bowl for supper since I forgot the spinach for the enchiladas. Strength training was WAY hard for me since I haven't exercised in a long time, but I got through 1 set of everything. The hardest move for me is the lunges. I look forward to being able to do those without feeling like I'm about to collapse. I told my DH that in a few days I will be brave enough to have him video me doing it so I can look at it in 6 months and see how far I've come:)
For my mindset makeover I imagined myself being able to do an activity with my sons without being winded before we are half done. My motivation makeover is hanging in my closet = a lovely shirtwaist denim dress that I bought over a year ago and can't wear. I also can't bring myself to give it away because I love it.
Love reading the blogs and seeing how encouraging everyone is to each other! Everyone have a great rest and successful day tomorrow. emoticon emoticon

I did taste and think about how good my meals are and enjoyed the food as I ate.

My Day 2
19 on the reflection-- my motivation is a little down. Looking ahead to tomorrow and I don't like feta. Will need to switch up. I made the breakfast cookies -- double batch -- and they lok good for breakfast instead.
Found a picture of some awesome legs in short shorts for my motivation.
Didn't like the ST routine -- it got me sweating but I had trouble with plank to pike.
And it would be so nice if the grouping was available on the fitness tracker. Will see how it works for me next time.

A good day 2 for me. Lentil soup for lunch *it really is a life saver recipe that I HIGHLY recommend from the SP Cookbook* withe just a touch of cheese and some veggie straws for crunch, and a better balanced dinner than I would have made 6 weeks ago. Grilled pork, brown rice, green beans, 1/2 cup of CoMushroom soup, and a fruit puree y son and I made for dessert.
I'm really proud that I didn't give into the pizza craving. Tomorrow will be good too. Got it planned out. :)

Happy thoughts to you,

I'm doing well with my eating, having trouble motivating with the exercise end of things. I have a tiny house with no room to move in. I had a very frustrating day with personal things and did not stress eat, I'm proud of that. I'm also frustrated with the Kindle version of the book so I paid overnight shipping to get a paper copy tomorrow.

I had some of the speedy turkey chili in the freezer, so I had that for dinner. I had the protein pancakes for breakfast and I love them! I usually just have cereal (5 grain cooked) but no protein, so trying to get protein in early is a challenge. I am a creature of habit. Instead of the strength training in the book, I did a workout with stretch bands, things like squats are hard on the knees. I still haven't tried all the recipes in the book (I did the 2 week challenge the 1st time it was out), but the ones I have tried are so good I'd eat them even if I wasn't trying to eat healthier and lose weight.

I'm doing well on day 2 with food and exercise. I got 2 miles on the treadmill at lunch. Then when a meeting canceled today I used the time to get some extra movement and steps running in place while folding clothes. I also put a lot of the clothes away one item at a time with a lap around the inside of the house between. I can't do this all the time, but it was good for today.

Day 2--I was able to follow a sensible eating plan even eating out for dinner and get some exercise in even though the heat/humidity is very high. (My step count is low--6,500 due to my plantar fasciitis.)

I noticed I was less hungry today than yesterday. I used the mindfulness exercise and have my motivation picture posted (cruise ship). I'm even thinking about making a new motivation poster.

At my doctor's visit my bp is down--120/70. A1C was 6.3--she really wants it below 6 so I've got more work to do. Cholesterol was good. :O) She is very happy with my progress and encouraged me to keep going.

Tomorrow I have jury duty--I've got a healthy lunch and snacks packed!

But the best part of all--I'm down 12 pounds since my last visit in March--woo hoo!

Day 2 ended up going pretty well, even if I did struggle with being motivated today. I got in 20 minutes of cardio but then could only make it through 1 set of the Sparks Swap Strength Workout. I knew I was out of shape in terms of strength training, but I didn't realize how bad it was, lol. It kicked my butt today but now I'll be prepared for what to expect Thursday and I'll do better.

Had so much Southwestern Chicken left over (and that pesky lack of motivation) so I ate that for lunch and dinner since I don't mind eating the same thing several times as long as I like it. The blueberry almond oatmeal was very good.

Hey all! Day 2 is in the books! Had a great day! Felt a little hungry this afternoon so grabbed some veggie and fruit munchies! It really helped. Did a lot of. Walking and other exercise both days.

Tonight, I signed up for a gym membership and even signed up to meet with a trainer tomorrow!!! So excited to take this next step :)

Hi all. Day 2 went really well for me. I did the strength training workout this morning before - was quite challenging. My coworker and I walked up and down the stairs after lunch for 10 mins and after work I did the fit, firm and fired up DVD day 2 and the 15 min bonus cardio. Felt wonderful all day - lots of energy.
I modified the breakfast a little had oatmeal plain with sweetened vanilla almond milk so did not need the brown sugar. I did not have any blueberries so I had an apple instead. It did keep me full all the way to lunch.
I had salmon salad instead of tuna for lunch with 1 slice of whole wheat toast with the carrots and watermelon.
I made ground chicken chili for dinner another spark recipe that my family and I love.
All and all a great day!

For my 'NEAT', I made a new game for myself. Cleaning the house is so boring for me. Though I know it needs to get done daily - and there is a lot to do with 3 young kids around here - I've taken to procrastinating, and spending too much time on the computer instead. Today, I decided I was going to set the timer in the kitchen for 10 minutes, clean downstairs, and when it went off, I would go upstairs and clean for 10 minutes (set a timer up there). This actually helped me from getting bored, as I forced myself to go faster to accomplish things before the 10 minutes was up, and I got in an extra 6 flights of stairs today on my Fitbit. I thought that was pretty clever of me. Think I'll do it again tomorrow.

How did yesterday go?
Yesterday went well - today too!

What did you do for your workout? Today, my calves were KILLING me. I did the exercises in the book, and kept thinking as I was doing them "I hate these exercises. I want to stop." But I told that negative voice to shut up and I finished anyway.

Which recipe was your favorite? The Oatmeal breakfast. Tasty and filling.

Today's Mind-Set Makeover asks you to envision yourself doing something at your goal weight that you can’t do at your current weight. What did you imagine? I imagined looking down and not seeing a pot belly, and seeing pictures of myself without being horrified.

Our Motivation Makeover suggests you put a picture of your motivation on your phone or within sight. What did you choose? I didn't do this.

Did you pause before taking a bite during your meals and snacks today? Did you notice a difference in your enjoyment of food in doing so? Which other senses were heightened by this exercise? I did pause - to look at my food and really taste it, instead of just shoveling it into my mouth in a hurry, which is what I usually do.

Today was your first strength workout. How did it go? Which move was the most challenging? I finished, and was able to do all of the exercises with relative ease, aside from my aching calves. I sure hope they feel much better tomorrow!

Day 2: Did the workouts this morning in addition to some turbo jam... I forgot how challenging those exercises in the book are, but it was good.

Although I am varying the menu a little I am staying in range, whereas before I thought I would be tricky and go under (1200-1300), I think I needed the extra calories to compensate for the extra workouts... imagine that. But I do feel better already.

Keep up the good work everyone!

I am still staying within the range. Felt less exhausted today and ate lots more fruits and veggies. I have not set my motivation picture collage or anything yet, but I've got a mental picture of my goal trip to Europe.

And mom is doing much better post-surgery today. Didn't fix her the spicy mexican dinner in the plan (although I have had it before, and I think it's my favorite of the four meals I've made). Instead we did the light progresso chicken noodle soup and an arugula salad.

I am still resting my leg from screwing up my knee/ankle (which is helping!), but am doing one of the sitting workouts tonight so that I'm not totally atrophying in my process.

So thanks for the swap link, steph!

Great job to everybody guys! It's inspiring to read so many activities!!!

Here I am on day 2, with my progress report.

*How did yesterday go?
Yesterday went great for me! I'm so glad, because I was unable to do the last challenge, so I'm attempting to make up for that now.

*What did you do for your workout?
Since my ankle is still wrapped for recovery from a sprain, my A.M. workout was Spark People's 11 minute seated cardio. P.M. workout began as therapy exercises for my ankle, but it turned into walking, for 20 more minutes. I strapped a resistance band onto my belt and added some lateral raises and bicep curls while I walked, to increase the intensity a bit.

*Which recipe was your favorite?
I didn't follow the challenge meal plan too closely because I haven't had the money to buy groceries for it. I did eat clean and healthy, and stayed within my calorie and nutrition ranges.

*Today's Mind-Set Makeover asks you to envision yourself doing something at your goal weight that you can’t do at your current weight. What did you imagine?
I'd like to go hiking in the mountains once I'm in better shape.

*Our Motivation Makeover suggests you put a picture of your motivation on your phone or within sight. What did you choose?
I placed a Rocky Mountain Hiking photo on my computer desktop. (I'd like to come up with a more common, every-day activity, but can't think of anything at the moment.)

*Did you pause before taking a bite during your meals and snacks today? Did you notice a difference in your enjoyment of food in doing so? Which other senses were heightened by this exercise?
Yes, I was much more mindful of my eating yesterday, and I did enjoy it.

*Today was your first strength workout. How did it go? Which move was the most challenging?
ALL of it was challenging for this obese, 57 year old granny with fibromyalgia and a sprained ankle, ha ha! I knew I was going to have trouble, so I did Coach Nicole's 20 minute resistance band workout first, just to make sure I had some strength training done. Then I tried to do the workout from the book, and breezed through the squats before I torqued my ankle (ouch!) and decided to stop for the time being. Even so, I'm feeling motivated, so will likely browse through the rest of the exercises to see if I can at least try some of them before the day is over.

I hope everyone else is enjoying this as much as I am - it's great to be a part of this team!

Day 2 went good! I struggled with some of the strength training exercises...lol...I am sooo stiff..lol..hopefully if I keep pushing,I'll limber up some by the end of this.
My toughest thing food wise is keeping my calories in the 1200 range(I'm 5'2").....I hit the 1500 mark today....it's still less than I would normally eat(probably close to 2500-3000).Will I still lose weight if I eat 1500?

Day 2 went well! I got my exercise in early (did body sculpting & then a spin class)! Modified the food plan today (somewhat)...I did enJOY the oats w/blueberries & nuts! For lunch it was pink salmon in a mixed veggie salad, & leftover southern chicken & rice for dinner. I didn't want to consume all the fruits that were appointed to the day (I already had blueberries, an orange, & cantaloupe), so I had some popcorn for a snack! Yum! It was delish! So, on track & I'm on my way! Tomorrow will be a challenge since I'm having a dinner party w/friends over. I plan on serving healthy options (since most of my lady friends are watching their intake)...so I should do alright!

Keep up the good guys! You're all winners!!! emoticon

Ooh, I need to work on this eating healthy thing. That said, I have tracked every bite over the past two days, which is something I really need to work on. But I went out to lunch with some friends and ate too much, but I tracked it all. I also worked hard on the water. I will get my strength in next, but my arms and legs are super sore from all the wallpaper scraping I did last night. But I have to get at least one full part of the challenge in today.

Day 1 - June 24
Did well = enjoyed the meals - supper I made the Roasted Chicken and Vegetables - was very good - we added more spices then mentioned as we enjoy spicing things up somewhat. Leftovers for tomorrow

Day 2 - June 25
So far so good. For breakfast and lunch I ate the same meal as I did on Day 1 = enjoyed them. And for supper tonight we will have leftovers from yesterday. We will go onto different foods tomorrow
I am down 3 pounds since yesterday = must be due to all the water I am drinking. Have never been a water drinker so with this challenge I am doing the following: Prior to eating either of the 3 meals I have to drink 1 bottle of water which is 2 glasses of water. And then I had a couple of bottles between meals and one last one at bedtime when I took my night meds.
Here are my stats for today
Weight
300.4 (down 3 pounds from Day 1)
Blood pressure
141/80 = taken at 9:45 = little high but not bad
Pulse 63
Glucose
6.3

This afternoon friends came over for a short visit = had just finished my sandwich for lunch. Hubby graciously made coffee for the company and put out a bowl of pretzels. I quickly relooked at the meal plans and saw that there was listed 1 pretzel as a snack - so I took one - hubby looked at me strange as normally I would have had a handful - but only had one.

It is not 3:50 and feeling a bit hungry but am not going to give into it - supper is in 1 hour - and then we are off to a meeting at church

Have gotten in daily exercise which is a big thing for me - actually the water and the exercise is the part that I am really going to have to work on. So far the water is coming fairly easy but am still struggling with the exercise - think it is because I get winded and tired so quickly - but I have broke down my walking ( I use a stepper and each hour I go to it and do 5 minutes on it) and eventually am looking forward to being able to do 10 minutes at one time - going to work at it rather than going all out and then quitting due to pain or being too winded.

Am excited to get through this 1st 7 days - down 3 pounds in 24 hours = what is going to happen by the end of the week?

Looking forward to Day 3

Yesterday went well :). I did my 5k training app workout for 30 minutes (nearly 2 miles with the walk run combo!!!). I feel myself getting better at it each time I start to run, which is very encouraging :). I am a great sprinter, but have never been one for the longer runs, so fingers crossed!

As for my vision, I just want to wear a dress I bought for myself before I got pregnant. It isn't super small, but with the extra belly, is not the least bit flattering on me :-O! I don't need a photo of it, because I see it every time I open the closet. It doesn't make me sad, but it does keep me motivated, lol. I spent a bit too much on that thing to just give it away, and in about 10 more pounds it should start looking good, even if I have to wear the gut-sucker with it, lol.

I did try to take it slow with my foods, and enjoy them today. I ate the left over alfredo meal, with some extra squash and peas for lunch. It was actually pretty good reheated, whew!! My favorite all time meal is the Mexican Breakfast Burrito. I think I could eat that one regularly for breakfast and not get tired of it, lol. I used a spoon for the smoothie today. I tend to drink to fast with a straw, and I added a bit of protein powder to it, which thickened it up nicely, and made it like an ice creamy treat :).

I am actually doing another workout for strength right now. I am using the Gorilla workout app on my phone since I had already done the book when it first came out, and want to keep things fresh. My favorite moves are anything that involve squats, lol. Love them, and the thought of making my legs these awesome powerhouses, lol.

Hope everyone else's day is going great!!!

So far, so good! Day 2 is going well. I'm trying to find all the strength training exercises in the fitness area so I can add them to my tracker. Need to do more planning as I only got groceries for the 1st 3 day so far.

Quick check in. Just waiting for DH to get home for dinner. Had a good day. Didn't get up early like I planned, but will do the ST this evening a couple hour before bedtime.

Stayed with the program today but had some afternoon cravings. I knew I wasn't really hungry just feeling anxious and out of sorts and wanted to eat something crunchy. I finally gave in and had a couple crackers with All Fruit. I think this hot, humid weather has me cranky plus there are severe thunderstorms heading this way so maybe I'm reacting to that also.

DH is home. I'll be back later.

LOVED the Curried-Tuna Salad! However, for breakfast, I don't think they meant a cup of fresh OR frozen blueberries. I already had frozen small wild blueberries and once I added them, the oatmeal was more like a garnish for the berries. LOL It was still good, and very filling.

Haven't done my strength training yet today. No AC at home and it's near 90 out with no air. Just do not feel like moving. We'll see if I feel motivated once darkness falls and I stand in front of a fan.

Day 2 was not as successful because I went out for dinner with some work colleagues and ate too much. I have friends coming over for dinner tonight so hopefully I won't overeat again. On a positive note, I have been doing well with meeting the exercise targets so far and the neat activity is very easy as I am on my feet almost all day for work.

day 2 hasn't been very good for me since I am sick so only having soft bland foods.....my only exercise today has been either getting into and out of the bed, sitting at the computer for a few minutes or getting down and up from the potty....

Today isn't going so well-or maybe I should say this afternoon. My blueberries were purchased at a store I don't normally buy fruit from and even after rinsing them I was sick after eating. Might not be the berries but something else-who knows. That does mean I missed lunch so I need to get a healthy meal in this evening before my grandkids show up to stay for 3 days.

Day 1 was great until dinner time when DH decided he needed to get out, so we went for Mexican food, and I ate too much. I felt all proud that I only ate half the entree, but when I tracked my food I still went over. I had planned to stick with the menus, but hadn't planned on outside sabotage.

Today I'm doing better sticking with the menus. The workouts feel great, and I feel good getting those NEAT minutes in. My mind-set makeover means focusing on doing exercises I can't do now- like the plank exercises in the Spark Swap Strength workouts- I can't do those AT ALL! I still need to get a motivation picture for my phone before I can say Day 2 is complete.

Doing good so far on Day 2. Ended up doing some videos from the site for weights and core exercises yesterday. So I guess I'm reversed on the days, lol. Oh well, doesn't really matter. Am unable to do the strength exercises in the book because of dealing with knee injuries at the moment. Did do some light cardio this morning and am going to do a short walk after work.

Day 2 is going well - I just did the spark swap strength workout, which was challenging for me since I haven't been keeping up with strength training for quite awhile. I am sure I will improve though! I have been drinking all of my water, and haven't been hungry so am staying in my calorie range. I love the blueberry almond oatmeal, it's probably my favorite breakfast. Have a great day!

Day 1 went fantastic. I will be sticking mostly by the recipes and the workouts in the book. Loved the food yesterday. Loved the workout. Never felt hungry.

Day 2 isn't going as well. I ate the more than enough oatmeal breakfast and still felt hungry before lunch. Not a fan of the curry tuna.

Rather than make a new meal tonight, hubby (my personal chef) is using last night's meal (we did the cheese, salsa, and rice seperate) as the filling for the enchiladas.

Water is never a problem for me. I don't drink much else.

I love reading everyone's stories. Keep on posting.

Doing better today than Day 1, as my dog is recovering at home, and I am able to make my own food at home today. I am pretty much at my goal weight already, and I am able to do pretty much anything I set my mind to trying. Had to force myself to do the Strength exercises. I have no trouble doing cardio, as I am in the habit of doing that 7 days a week already.

@Julia -

I first go to: http://chefben.tripod.com/recipe_calculato
r.html
this gives me all the new amounts for the servings I want.

Then I go to: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calc
ulator.asp (if I am going to want to make the recipe again) and enter into my recipe box with all the details.

Then just save it and anytime you want to remake it at the higher/lower quantity it's there and ready to go :)

Hope this helps.
