WITCHYONE333 - the Spark records the complete step motion in order to track every independent step. So it does count steps even from the foot it isn't being worn on (i.e., four steps in your example below).

I have it on the top of my shoe, hooked to three laces. It doesn't bounce around at all. One thing I was wondering is how the steps are counted. Is Left, Right, Left, Right counted as two steps or four?

My fitbit tracked almost instantly. The reason that I've stopped using it is that my original strap broke and the replacement straps they sent me caused a really bad rash on my wrist within a day. It took a week for the rash to go away. A few months later, I tried again with a different colored strap and the rash was again very bad within a day.

Hi,

I've not had any problems and I've been using the Spark Tracker for around a year. I admit I haven't tried any other tracker. There were a few times I wondered if the tracker was functioning properly, but after using GPS I found it was okay. There was one time when I needed to re-calibrate the tracker. My only complaint is it takes 10 minutes of movement for the tracker to begin tracking to register "activity". Just in case you don't know, the tracker records all the steps, but it doesn't register "workout" minutes until you have 10 continuous minutes of movement. It stops tracking "workout" minutes after approximately one minute. So, if you are running and stop for a minute you break the "workout" cycle. Get what I mean? Something I do regularly is "re-classify" my minutes when I feel the tracker hasn't picked up my activity accurately. For example, the other day I walked, the tracker designated it as a "general walk". I didn't think it was exact, so I reclassified it to a 3.5 rate walk. The steps didn't change, but ",minutes" and "calories burned" did.

I have a question. Does your fitbit wait 10 minutes to record a workout. I'm curious, because sometimes I feel like I've been short changed after either or nine minutes of activity.

I hope this post helps somewhat,

Have a Sparkling day! :)

We’ve found that when members adjust how they wear their Spark they get better tracking. You could try the tips below:

- If you wear on your shoe, make sure it is flat on your laces and parallel to ground with the open end of the clip pointing towards the toe. Also make sure it is firmly clipped and not flopping around - we find its best to try to get it through at least 2-3 laces (which really snugs it down).

-If wearing on your bra, try with clip to the skin and the tracker to the outside. If that doesn’t work, try wearing it on the cross strap (not the shoulder strap) towards the side of the body near the underarm. We have seen this give better results for some body types as it helps to hold the tracker securely to the body. But we would still recommend trying it on the shoe or waist first if possible.

- If you wear on your waist, make sure the open end of the clip is pointing towards the ground. Also try to wear as close the outside of your hip as possible.

If your battery level was really low before, then changing the battery like you did may help.

If you try the suggestions above for wearing it, but still have trouble, please let me know.

I'm finding that the SAT is discouraging. With my old fit bit, I was tracking 10-12,000 steps per day. Now I have trouble even getting to 5000, and often it seems as if my tracker isn't tracking anything at all. There are even days when I may as well be dead but being jostled about in the back of a hearse for all the activity that registers. I've changed my battery the other day, so I guess I'll have to see if that helps. It's really discouraging to be on my feet all day and not even reaching 3000 steps. Is anyone else having this issue?
