Hi all,

I've been absent from SP for a couple days, so just checking in again. My thoughts with those affected by the flooding.

Hey Suz.. glad you're back. Sorry, no, I didn't get anything last week about your weigh in. I saw on facebook that you were flooded & had no internet access.

Good luck with weigh ins all!

Hey Vicki, I live in Cherokee County about 35 mins from Atlanta. My county was one of the first to be declared a disaster area. I have never seen anything like what I saw last week. I am praying your sil is ok, I think Dalton just got put on that list from rain over the weekend.

MaryAnn, Glad your friend is ok. Prayers for all the pets out there.

Hello, gang,
Somehow I think I missed yesterday. I've been cleaning and painting again.....man oh man, am I tired! But (and I don't know whether to count on this or not) I seem to have lost another pound! Painting + not snacking = maybe weight loss?? And, I'm at home and not around that Chocolate Jar on my friend's desk.

I really feel for you all in Atlanta with the flooding. It's a terrible situation. I have a dear friend in Atlanta, and I he's OK, but we are very concerned about not only all the people who are affected but displaced pets as well.

Best wishes to everyone!

SUZZZZQ-I was wondering if anyone from our team was in the area of the flooding. How close are you to Atlanta? I saw lots of pics from Atlanta, which was very strange to me, since I was THERE in July. They showed a pic of Six Flags and we were there twice in July. I still haven't heard from my sil who lives in Dalton--she has a pond on her property. Glad to hear that you are okay--we lived in a home that flooded several times and it was no fun at all--I feel your pain...well, at least I remember the pain. The carpets drying out? YUCK! That is a smell, I don't want to experience again and I'm VERY thankful we no longer live in that house...not to mention, I LOVE my new house (5 yrs. old).

WISHING EVERYBODY A GOOD WI!

Vicki

Hey All! Sorry I have been MIA. If you watched any of the news last week you know N.GA was pretty much under water. I still have my house thank the Lord but the bottom half was flooded and have been spending the last week trying to get it dried and cleaned out. Lets just say my house smells like a combination of an old basement and a bottle of bleach.

Anyways, my dd did try to weigh in last week on her phone to my partner Sue on her FB but I guess it didnt work. Havent been keeping track of eating and as for exercise I guess you can count cleaning up my house as some.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Julie, you have 10 great ideas for exercise. Forget the running. Calories burned are calories burned and you will burn more doing things you love because you will actually do them. I love running and that's why I am trying to develop myself into one. But you will not find me trying to do a sport that ends in the word "ball". I find them extremely frustrating and so I watch them on television instead.

Don't be hard on yourself! Do what you love and the weight loss will follow!

Convention was awesome - read my blog for eight reasons you should go if you ever have the opportunity. I'll be glad to share more about it and you will hear messages from it in the challenges to come.

In the business of this team, I have exercised two days in a row (woo hoo!) and have done reasonably well with my eating. So hopefully the scale will be kind this week because I WANT to see that front 2 GONE FOR GOOD!!!!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and I will be checking on all of you tomorrow. Plan those last chance workouts now because you WANT to succeed!

Hi everyone!

Well, I promised my partner that we'd be the biggest losers this week, but so far that is not looking so good, as I've been eating out almost all week. I have been exercising, but not enough to counter all the extra calories. :( Sorry, Mary Ann!

My big thing with exercise is that I need to keep it varied, or else I get bored, bored, bored. Here are the forms of exercise that I really, truly find fun:

1) riding my bike
2) rollerblading (or attempting to, more like it!)
3) hiking
4) step aerobics class (with the right instructor - that makes all the difference)
5) swimming
6) swing dancing (or square dancing - also fun!)
7) hitting golf balls at the driving range
8) exploring new neighborhoods by foot (I find that walking can get tedious when it's a familiar route, but sometimes I'll be like, "Hey, I wonder where this road leads?" and the curiosity motivates me to keep going to see where I end up!)
9) sledding (haven't done this in a long time, but would like to again, because climbing back up that hill is good exercise!)
10) rowing a boat or kayaking

The one exercise I really can't stand is running. Which is unfortunate, since it burns the most calories. Sometimes I make myself do it for that reason, but I have never been able to stick to a running program, because I really just don't enjoy it.

I'd love to hear what others do that they find fun!

Julie

LILANG-I'm glad that I could give you some insight on the spin class. My friend, who's a couple of feet taller than me, loves it though. But I find that since we're so short, that it's nearly impossible to enjoy when you have trouble reaching for things. There is a move where you have to stand up and pedal while holding onto the bars, and that's a challenge and a half. But on the bright side, they did have really great pumping music!

So what does everyone do for exercise? What are your favorites and least favorites? What is the number one exercise that you would recommend to anyone?

I do Tae Bo. I absolutely love it and recommend it to all. Billy Blanks is so motivating and he keeps you moving, but keeps it fun at the same time. I'm looking into adding another style of exercise, but don't know where to start from here.

So I'm just checking in now with everyone. I didn't get any exercise in today, but I did run my butt off at work. I think that I need to have a day with no exercise...a "rest" day, as I'm not used to exercising everyday. I will definitely get something in tomorrow though!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tiff, thanks so much for your information on the spinning class. I was thinking about trying that. I am also short. I am a little shorter than you. I think I will save my money and try something else. I am looking for something fun.
Rebecca hope you enjoy your trip to the convention.

I am heading to the Sparkpeople convention in Cincinnati today! Wish some of you were going to be there, but I think I am the only one close enough to go. So I will bring back a report for the team of what went on and how motivating I know it will be.

I'll be back home tomorrow evening (It's 2-2.5 hours from home for me) so don't worry if you don't see me around. Have a lovely healthy weekend and happy vacation to Mary Ann!

Good Morning! The first morning of my vacation! Not going anywhere, just working on the house.

Fun exercise. Well, chasing toddlers is fun exercise to me! My friend at work goes spinning at lunch time and she comes back really worn out. It is a tough workout, but she says it works wonders for her physique and her mood.

Here we go, folks. Painting the living room!! Now THAT'S fun exercise!

I have Wii fit and used it quite a bit when it was new. I don't know, I ran track, played softball, football and basketball in high school and I know thats a lifetime back but I just can't seem to be that excited by exercise anymore. I don't think I need it to be fun, I think I need it to feel like relaxation. LOL I don't think there is an exercise out there that can do that.

I break out the wii every once in a while and have bought several new games for it. I forget the name of the newer one out but that one looked pretty good. Maybe time to break it out and start over.

Have a Beautiful Day!

I've been contemplating trying spinning for quite some time, but just can't bring myself to try it, because it just doesn't look like fun to me! But people rave about it. Who knows? I need my exercise to be FUN, or else I don't stick to it.

On that note, I'm thinking about getting a Wii for exercise purposes. I hear the price is going to be cut this weekend. Does anyone have one, and what are your thoughts? I know there is the Wii Fit and a bunch of other fitness games for it (including a BL game!).

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in to say a quick hi. Tonight, my friend and I went to a spin class. In all honesty, I didn't care much for it. I think that the main reason is that I'm so short that I really have to elongate my body to do some of the moves. I'm not midget short or anything, but I'm only a hair over 5 feet and that's pretty short :P I don't think that I will stick with this exercise, but I'm glad that I at least tried it :) That's about it for tonight, have a great night everyone!

Good morning BBKB's
Been a rough week and showed on the scale. Not so bad on weigh -in but I haven't been posting and tight schedule has left me too exhausted to get the daily exercise in everyday.
Yesterday was pretty good though. After spending a few days not feeling well, and barely eating much, I would have thought to see something lost.
So, yesterday was another new start, ate well and got a 45 minute walk in and did 100 crunches. I am happy with that. Today would be me off day for the exercise but I plan to get just a little in anyway and tomorrow is swim night.
Off to another good day! Hope everyone has a good oone as well.

Have a Beautiful Day!

Hi All!

Thanks for all of your encouraging words everyone, I really needed to hear them and really do appreciate it emoticon I may not be able to make it to my first goal of weighing in at 188 by Sept. 28th, but maybe if I step it up I can get down to my second goal. I just really have to push myself as I haven't really done that during this challenge. I always seem to find an excuse to not exercise or find that I keep putting it off until it's 11PM...I AM the one that is holding myself back and I have to turn this around.

On a happier note, I didn't gain! I actually lost .2 of a pound! A loss is a loss, right? I'm actually thrilled with it!!!

Oh! And my last chance workout I did 45 mins of Tae Bo, 15 mins of waking and 5 mins of running; Go ME!!! I've never pushed myself like that before so I'm pretty proud of myself. I'm not going to let this weight hold me back any longer. I am worth it!

Thanks again!

Tiff,I understand about getting upset on not making it to a goal. I have been there and pretty sure that I will be there again. I do not know if it will help but I just keep telling myself as long as I stick with it, I will lose the weight, all the weight. Good luck on the last chance work out.

Hey all,

I weigh in @ Weight Watchers tonight and I just jumped on the scales to see where I was at...and I'm up by .4 of a lb!

Yes, that shouldn't be a big deal but to me it is! I'm so upset with myself! I know that I'm to blame as I should have been exercising waaaay more, but I've been doing really good with my food so this still comes to a shock for myself.

I'm also really upset with myself as I realized last night that I won't be making it to my first mini goal of weighing in at 188lbs by Sept. 28th....ARGH!!!

I'm sorry, but I just had to vent guys. I just feel like bawling emoticon

I guess I better go and get my last chance workout, which I've never done before but am willing to work my ass off for it. Wish me luck!

Good news and bad news.

The good news is I did day one of Jillian's 30 day shred.

The bad news is my back hurts.

Hopefully it's a minor thing which will improve quickly. I will be taking time off from that tomorrow however.

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone had a great week! I weigh in tomorrow so wish me luck emoticon

My friend and I went to kickboxing on Monday, it was a lot of fun and the instructor pushed us past our comfort level. I'm definitely loving it though!

So, I just saw the first episode of The Biggest Loser tonight...don't worry, I'm not posing any spoilers emoticon But I will say this...that show is soooo motivating! For the first hour of it all I wanted to do was cry my eyes out for them; for all of the struggles that they went through and for how happy they were to be given a second chance to change their lives. Definitely an eye opener for me. I can't wait for the 2nd episode that's on tonight! Woo-Hoo!

I guess that's about it for now....Oh! Quick question! On the show they have a last chance workout. I was wondering if anyone knew the specifics of it like mainly when do they cut off their last workout to the time that they weigh in? Do they do that all in the same day? If they do, then wouldn't they gain weight from building muscle?

Have a great week everyone!

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well, and are ready for the next weigh in. Not quite sure I am, but it is what it is, and whatever it is, I will continue this Challenge!

Good luck to everyone.
