Good morning and happy weigh-in day!
I must say I am very pleased with my first week. It's the next 11 weeks that scares me. I hope I can continue to stay focused and up the momentum just a tad each day. I did my last chance workout later in the evening, a short 20 minute on exercise TV but it was something and actually looking forward to some WII time with DD tonight. She has been doing her best to fatten up her calorie pig and I am way behind.

Here's to a brand new day and a successful week ahead.

Just finished my ST...ya, I know. It's late, but better late than never! Who knew that a resistance band could be such an awesome workout! Whew! Good luck to everyone on the scales tomorrow! I'm hoping for a big # as I was really watching what I ate this week :) And even got some exercise in :)

Good luck with weigh ins everyone.

I know I didn't do so well this week, still trying to get myself in 'change your life around' mode. I did do better on the eating & started exercising.. but for me its a slow process right now.

Good Morning!
Snow snow snow! Pretty, but not so good for traffic.
Getting ready to set out for a round of classroom visits, so I wanted to check in early.
Eating OK, drinking the water, but somehow the exercise isn't happening. How do I get over the "too-tired-after-work" hurdle?
Have a good week, everyone!

BATHRICB-I would suggest that you create your own mealtimes. I personally wouldn't want to eat breakfast if I had to stay up till 3 in the morning and I probably wouldn't want to eat dinner when I woke up past 12 in the afternoon. That's just me though. I would just find it too weird to do that. If you feel like eating breakfast at a certain time in the day, don't feel like you can't just because it's not "breakfast time". When I lived with my grandparents, we would sometimes have breakfast for supper because they loved breakfast that much! So ya, do what you feel is right for you :)Oh, and try to take care of yourself. You don't want to burn yourself out!

BATHRICR-That's great that you're trying to do the stairs more. You should wear a pedometer to see just how many steps you are taking in a day running up and down the stairs and also running around the house after your little ones. The end count may surpries you :)

A note on DVDs and small children. I did them when my sons took naps way back when. That worked really well. Now they will laugh at me and so I don't do much around them. But I am working on changing that!

When my mother worked third shift, she ate whatever meal was next because that's what my father was doing. So she came home at 7am, ate breakfast and went to bed. When she got up, she ate lunch and then made supper her meal later.

With your kiddos at home, you might be able to take them stroller jogging or something when you get up in the afternoon on your work days. Remember, the goal here is to get some exercise. If all you have is 10 minutes, do that. Something is better than nothing. I suggest finding something to do with the family as exercise. That way you won't feel guilty.

Hope that helps.

Doing good but looking for some advice....

Working 3rd shift really throws off my eating schedule. I mean is breakfast what I eat at work at 3am or should that be from the previous days meals since that would technically only be 12 hours since I got up and would fall for supper for me? Or when I wake up at 2-3 pm is that lunch or breakfast?

See my dilemma.

The same for exercise the 3 days a week that I work 3rd shift alls screw that up so badly. I leave for work at 5-530pm then work till 730am then get home around 9ish in the morning. Then see my wife and 2 baby girls (Hailey 16mts and Chloe 3mts)then off to bed till 2-3pm then get up see the family again get things around for work have a meal with them. Then unfortunately go to work and do it all over again.

I just don't know what to do.... I don't want to give up the few short hours I have to see them t go exercise....but at the same time I know I should be...

Mary Ann I'm sure the rest of your cats will get used to the kitten before too long.. they usually do. My old cat doesn't like it much when I get a new kitten. they always want to play & she want nothing to do with it (18 yrs old). lol.. but it is so much fun to watch the kittens! :)

Tiffy you have some great ideas there for getting in a little exercise doing everyday choirs! Have to laugh when I think about how it would look if someone happened to see me.. but it would get a little extra in for the day!

Hi all,

Just checking in right quick as I'm supossed to be helping make supper for my dad's b-day with my family.

Thanks for all of the feedback and support, I really needed it. I'm still feeling pretty upset over dress hunting yesterday. I actually went straight to bed yesterday and slept for a few hours. I was really miserable. My fiance was concerned, but I didn't even want to talk to him. Sleep seemed like my only option so that's what I did.

I didn't really pick out the dress as I was too upset to see how I really felt in them. There was one that stood out though. I was able to finally convince one of them to snap a quick pic of me in it (although I'm holding up the dress as the lady who was helping us took off to deal with other customers-not a good day for anyone focussing on my special day, but I don't want to seem like I'm an attention hog either. It just would have been nice for a little special attention when I was looking and trying on dresses emoticon ). With this pic, I would like to blow it up and put it on the wall for motivation as I did not like the size I was or how I looked in it. But the dress WAS very beautiful! One of my friends even found someone who was selling the exact dress for $400 less, so I don't know what I'm going to do.

BATHRICR-How old are you 2 young ones? I'm not a mom, but my cousin has 2 kids (one being 2 and the other being 7) and she's having trouble with the same thing. Sometimes she will ask a friend or family member to watch them so she can have some downtime as she's a single mom. Maybe you could do that to get a bit more sleep and get some exercise in. Losing weight is never easy, but in your situation it's even more so difficult. Maybe you should write down what you do in a day and see if there's something you can "switch" into an exercise routine. Like folding laundry! You can do squats to bend down and pick up the clothes. Or when you need to go to the fridge or something, instead of walking you can do lunges. These all add up in a day, so just keep track of how many or how long you do them for and your golden emoticon Also, don't forget to take care of youself..."if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!" I hope that some of this can help you out :)

Hello, Happy Sunday!
Stopping by to say HI!!
Still really really really cold here, snow on the ground, but hey...it's Winter! I think the snow makes the world a lot brighter.
Best of luck to everyone facing trials ...chocolate...babies...tom...weddings... post holiday doldrums...too many cats...oh, I guess the last one was me!
I was gifted a kitten for Christmas! Love her! The rest of the cats, not so much. They are kind of fascinated, really.
Off to make a salad and try to straighten my desk. hahahahhahahaha!
Good to see you again, Tigerlillee!

Good morning =)

Sorry abt your sister Tiffy. It sounds like she may be a bit jealous. This is your special occasion so try to enjoy it.

We ended up painting the nursery yesterday, and I'm happy to say that it's all done! We then went to Disneyland, so I got my workout just walking over there.

Hope everyone's Sunday is a good one!

I know how hard it is to get in any exercise as well. Chasing the little ones and work crappy hours.

There just isn't enough hours in the day for everything.

Just incase anyone is confused bathricr and myself a hubby and wife team. It's very hard to get in any exercise with the little ones and work. I work long hours (12 hours) plus I have an hour drive back and forth to work.

bathricr you are doing great with your new healthy life style. Keep up the good work...

I am constantly chasing the 16 month old. I have BL dvd's, but I can't even get through 10 minutes before they are screaming for mommy. It's cold and we have snow here, otherwise I would strap one in the carrier and put the other one in the stroller. I dont want them to get too cold. Its like 4F outside right now, without windchill factored in. Like I said, I dont get that much sleep as it is. They dont nap at the same time, nor do they go to bed at the same time. I might get 4 hours of sleep a night. I am up with the older one a couple times a night, and on the other hours, I am up nursing the younger one...

Hi all,

Just got back from dress hunting. It went pretty good...but my sister seemed to make it out to be all about her which sucked big time. It was so bad to the point where she was talking to the other 2 bridesmaids that I had with me and when it came for me to pick out dresses to try on they all ignored me! WTF!!! They said that they wanted to help me look and then I ended up picking them out all by myself. I had to tell them 3 times that I was going to try things off and by the end of it I just said BYE and went to the dressing room. Amazingly they followed, but still!!! Aaargh! Just a little frustrated right now...feel like crying too. But I'll just lay down for a bit and then do my ST with my Flex band to work some steam off. Stupid sister...

Happy, happy weekend to all!

We're de-christmatizing the house today - we've been at it for 5 solid hours so far - THIS is a workout! Hopefully we will be done soon -- although this is only the inside, DH still has the outside - and there is alot of stuff out there - poor guy!

Here's to everyone keeping their focus this weekend -think of a little Jillian on your shoulder each time you step into the kitchen!

anyone have any ideas on how to get exercise in when i have 2 little ones who constantly need my attention? they dont nap at the same time, and they dont sleep at night at the same time unless it's from around 11pm-5am...but then, i would rather be sleeping too. some days i can get some work outs in, but it seems that more times that i cant vs i can. thanks.

Hi all,

Just thought I'd check in now since I won't be able to get on until late tomorrow evening as I'm going dress shopping with the girls tomorrow for the wedding. It should be a fun time :)

I didn't get my ST in as the movie that we went to see was sold out for the 6pm show so we ended up staying in town until the 9:40pm show was on. We did end up going to A&W and I did treat myself, which I'm going to work off for sure tomorrow with a Tae Bo workout AND ST with a brand new Flex band that I got at WalMart while we were killing time until the movie. I can't wait to use it! I tried one once in a kickboxing class and loved it! I was going to get weights, but they're so expensive to get them out of a set (they didn't have the weights I needed in the set) and resistance training is just as good! :)

I'm a little disapointed that I didn't get in all of my water either. In the rush to leave, I forgot my water bottle and we went straight out to eat and then it just slipped my mind. Learning experience though, as I'm always going to make sure that I have my water bottle on hand! I'm going to freeze a bit of water in one that holds 4 cups so that it stays nice and cold for most of the day tomorrow :)

Other than that, I had a great time tonight. It's nice to get out and have fun with friends. We're going to make this a monthly routine, but we're all committed to eating healthy (except, unfortunately, my fiance...but he'll just eat what I eat at home so that's a bonus) so it looks like Subway will be one of our regular places to hit up. We're even going to Subway tomorrow for lunch, the girls and I that is.

The only bad part of the night, was that on our way home we saw a neighbors house on fire. I don't really know him, but I'm so glad that he got out ok. He ran across the road and called 911...but the fire department didn't get there until it was too late. I've never seen a site like that before...or felt such heat! It put a lot of things in prospective for me...especially "you don't know what you got till it's gone". Poor guy. I feel so bad for hiim :(

Anyways, I've babbled long enough. Have a great day everyone!

Hello lovely ladies on Bob's team!!! I'm so glad to be back, and I'm really exicted about recommitting myself! I've had a very rough nine months (you can read all about it on my spark page) and my diet was the least of my worries. That old eating disorder creeped up on me again as I started to turn back to food to stuff my feelings. I was in a situation where I had to be strong, so rather than deal with my emotions, I "ate" them. I gained back almost 30 pounds!

I didn't realize that my clothes were getting bigger on me until I started gaining weight back and they started to feel uncomfortable again. I'm down to one pair of scrub pants for work, because I've ripped out the legs in my other two from my stupid thighs rubbing together! UGH!

Anyway, long story short, I've set some new goals for myself this year. I'm changing my focus a little bit. From now on, I exercise for health NOT weight loss! Maybe if I don't let the numbers control me, I won't get discouraged so easily. I also promised myself a "reward" for good behavior. I plan on getting me a new bathing suit this summer!

Well, I've got to get to bed; It's my Saturday to work, and I have to get up early. It's GREAT to be back, and I look forward to getting reacquainted with my old friends here, as well as getting to know some new ones. Go Bob's Team!!!

Stay strong and get the chocolate outta the house asap. I love chocolate!!! I use to use it as a crutch to lean on when I was stressed, emotional, TOM, anything.

Good luck getting the ST in tonight Tiff! I had a ST class this morning and was sooo absolutely reluctant to go because I woke up with a headache (TOM). I popped a couple of aleve, drank my protein shake, and went. By the time I got to the gym my headache was gone, thank goodness. After having 2 Fridays off from ST (Christmas & New Years) the instructor was ready to kick our butts and boy did she! I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow. Happy FRIDAY to all!

Wow, I think I would cry if I had those bars in the house...especially since I just my TOM last night :( Good luck to getting them out of your house :)

Today is a busy day for me. My fiance and I had to get up early to take my dad for X-Rays on his kidney stones and then we did some running around for him. We got home a little after noon and laid down for an hour and now we have to run into town to get some sinus medication and then when we come back we're going on a double date with his cousin (who I've been good friends with since we were little-that's how I met my fiance emoticon ) and her bf. We're going to see a movie, probably Avatar and then going out to eat. I hope it's some place with a good menu though! Subway would be the best place to go to, lol :P Wish me luck tonight!

I'm also hoping to get my ST in tonight whenI get home. Have a great day everyone!

The first real test of my willpower. My son came home from Cub Scouts last night with a huge box of chocolate bars to sell. So far I haven't touched them. The plan is to get out and get them all sold so I don't have to look at them anymore.

Thanks everyone! It sure seems doable once you get in the swing of things! Honey Nut Cheerios are yummy but they get you on sugar. They came out with Multi-grain Cheerios that are pretty tasty, but I don't recall what the sugar content was. Hopefully better but who knows! Stay strong Team!

Welcome to all the newcomers! Make sure you check in regularly.. it sure helps to keep you accountable!

Tiffy way to go on getting back to the exercise! 45 minutes is a good workout when you haven't done it in awhile. I've been starting back with little spurts but am going to start my WATP dvds. That'll give me more time & calories burned!

I love honeynut cheerios! I do have them, just not all the time. Usually I stick with the Kashi. But I need a change sometimes!

Welcome newbies :) This is a great challenge and I'm sure that you will do fabulously at it :)

Congrats again to my partner Monique on hitting her 2 milestones (1/2 way point to her goal and her 3 month sparkversary). Way to go partner! I'm so proud of you!

I was able to finally get some exericse in today, so I'm really proud of myself! 45 mins of Tae Bo. This is a big thing for me as I haven't done any exercise since way before Xmas :( But I'm in the process of changing my life for the best :)

For breakfast today, I had a bowl of honey nut cheerios. I read an article yesterday that all cereals should meet the 5-5-5 rule (Less than 5 grams of sugar, 5 or more grams of fibre and 5 or more grams of protein). There was way more sugar in the honey nut cheerioes than I expected. So I need to go cereal shopping tomorrow and find a healthier cereal for me :)

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Team!
I am super excited for this Season! As of yesterday, I have hit 2 milestones: half way to my goal, and my 3 month Sparkversary! In that time I have lost 28.2 lbs and can't wait to lose the next 28.2 lbs. Time is ticking and my wedding is in June! Let's ALL make this time count!

I always do breakfast. I'm hungry in the morning ;) I aim to workout in the morning, so I usually have a protein shake with a banana blended in. Very tasty! If I'm super hungry, then I'll make a couple of eggs (1 regular, 1 white), wheat toast, and a couple of turkey sausages. I've even been laying off the ketchup for sodium reasons. Breakfast is definitely important and can set the pace for your eating the rest of the day.

Never used to be a breakfast person or at least a real breakfast, ya know pop tart, can of coke..etc.
Nowadays, I can't go without breakfast. Typical, yogurt and granola or oatmeal. Except Sundays we do the big breakfast thing. Usually brunch though. Try to keep those to a minimum though.

Today was Fage with honey with a few almonds, tea and apple slices. Missed lunch though. Not so good sesame chicken for dinner... hmmm and where are the veggies. If I dind't have a V8 before I left work, I wouldn't have had any. Need to work on that.

Have a Beautiful Day!

Breakfast really isn't my thing, but I'm trying to eat something every morning. Whether it just be a piece of fruit or eggs and toast, with a cup of juice. But as I said at times its hard.

My main problem is I work 12 hour shift (6:45pm-07:15am) 3 days a week and that sort of throws of all of my meals, as into which meal is which for the day. It wouldn't be as bad if I work all 3 days back to back, but they are work a day here and a day there. So I never know if I am coming or going.

I can't live without my breakfasts - fortunately, my favorite and standard breakfast consists of my coffee, cottage cheese and fruit - my day just doesn't start until I get that in first.

Hope everyone is pumped for the new challenge and keeping warm from this frigid cold weather (yes, even Florida is frigid this last week!).

As soon as I got up, I started cooking a big breakfast for my fiance and I. It consisted of scrambled eggs, toast (whole wheat for me of course), 1 low-fat maple breakfast sausage (the last of our sausages lol) and not even a full strip of bacon each (we always cut ours in half so that it looks like we get more, so that way we had 1 and 1/2 strips of bacon, and we also sauteed some onions with a little bit of olive oil so that we got our oil in for the day. I know it seems a bit extreme, but we were both really hungry this morning! Plus this is the first time that we've both eaten breakfast in a long time! Breakfast won't always be like this, but in moderation it's good :)

As for goals to get moving...I'm starting to use the weight watcher point system for loggign my food (even though I've been tracking it all week just to get into the habbit) and they have a way that you can turn your exercise points into food points...but I'm not going to do that. It will just be cool to see how many points I can gain though. I'm setting a goal to do 3 cardio sessions this week!

Good morning all. I have to have breakfast. My three year old loves broccoli, even in the morning so sometimes I will scramble egg whites with broccoli and a little Mozzarella cheese. She loves it and I am starting to like it.
I have not been able to exercise this week because of back problems,
been on bed rest. However hoping to slowly get back to moving this week.
Hope everyone has a great season.

As for breakfast, its one thing I never go without. My breakfast is usually a healthy cereal with fatfree milk and fruit or fiber english muffin with peanut butter and carbmaster yogart from Krogers.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Good Morning, all -- great to be back!
I do eat breakfast, but usually not until my 9:30 break in the morning. By that time I've been at work for 2 1/2 hours, and that bowl of oatmeal fuels me up for the rest of the morning.
If I eat anything first thing, it's usually peanut butter toast. Seems to get me going. And coffee, of course. Maybe I should challenge myself to get off of the coffee. But I do always have at least 8 glasses of water every day, too.
Good Luck Everyone!

Lets do it then! We can have a great season.. and a healthier life!

Before SP I didn't usually eat breakfast. I did get into the habbit of starting my day right. Usually with kashi cereal with milk & fruit. This past month has been very bad & my good habits fell by the roadside. Time to get back into those good habbits. I have to learn to keep them for life!

No breakfast for me equal a blood sugar crash of major proportions. So it isn't optional. If I am late eating, I start getting cranky and woozy. Not a good plan. Same thing happens if I eat sweet stuff - blood sugar shoots up and then drops like a rock. So I have to balance my food carefully.

I eat breakfast every morning. Can't function without it.

Oops, forgot to mention about breakfast lol. I used to be really good with breakfast, but now I don't eat it at all. This morning I did have breakfast...but it was something I shouldn't have eaten. Homemade chocolate chip cookies. My fiance, after me warning him to get the chocolate chips out of the house, decided to do just that...but in the wrong way! His heart was in the right place though. I did have a few :( But it's only day 1 of the challenge and there is no more junk food in the house now lol. But I'm going to work on this eating a healthy breakfast thing :)

Hi Everyone =)
I always need to eat breakfast as well. Just cant function w/o it. I had my breakfast this morning, although it could have been healthier. I also walked for 30 minutes.
Had a dr's appt today and I'm just not in a good mood. The staff is so ehhh and not helpful to the questions that I have. It's too late to change dr's, so I'm just trying to shake off this annoyed/bad mood. Sorry for the vent, but I figured if I see if written out I'll get over it.
Have a good rest of the day everyone. I have to record the BL tonight, in fact I'll go do that now =)

I've always eaten breakfast. I can't make it through the morning without it. Never could understand how people can skip it.

I am not a breakfast person, so it is really hard for me to even eat breakfast as soon as I get up. I am doing good with yogurt, extra fruit added to it, and milk. For now, maybe when I get better at eating breakfast, I can add more to it, or change it around a little bit...

Ok, it is here! Time to get ourselves moving again and make this thing happen. LESSISMORE4ME will be posting a team challenge on Tue. night or Wednesday morning, but in the meantime, I would like to suggest that everyone start with focusing on breakfast.

Breakfast is an important start to a healthy eating plan and should never be skipped. It should always include some protein, which is something I struggle with. Come and share your breakfast ideas with our team this week.

Don't forget that if you post on your team thread--that means HERE--5 out of 7 days each week, you will earn a "Bonus Pound" for you & your team. That means if you and your partner both "Go Postal" you will earn 2 "bonus Pounds" for your team! Let's work towards all going postal this week!
