I didn't do so well yesterday. Had a drinking day with some old friends so I'm sure I had way to many bad calories. I did exercise before going out. But food was bad and today I don't feel so good. lol.. my own fault, I know! I am trying to get some energy to do some type of workout today. Punishment for being bad.. but it was such a good time! :)

I am keeping on track with the excercise. Bought BL weight loss yoga and 30 day jumpstart dvds yesterday. Having trouble finding time to track the food but I feel good about my eating choices. I think the scale will be good to me tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

Sorry I didn't get much of a chance to blog or write on the team page this week.

With that aside....This week I am going to work on my work out routine....I've done fairly good with the diet part now I need to add some extra exercise(s) in to kick my but into gear so I can shed the pounds off, as I know I didn't do all that well for this past week. We will have to see what the numbers say tomorrow night though....

Good luck and god bless everyone....

Been a heck of day today but managed to get a 30 minutes work out. Hoping tomorrow night will be a bit better and pump the time up a little bit.

I am really enjoying some new menus this week. Things I would never have tried. Dinner last night was really good, lunch today was not that bad and there were mushrooms on tonights dinner. Yuck, I ate them, couldn't really tell they were in there.

Cravings have diminished. Not hungry most of the time but I have fleeting moments of wanting for something, They seem to pass.

Hope everyone has a great weigh in and have a good night.

Great job Tiff! I am glad you have broken things up into smaller goals - that has definitely helped me stay sane ;)

Weekends aren't always easy, so glad everyone is remaining accountable and being mindful of our daily decisions. I took a rest day off yesterday because I knew I needed it, but plan to hit the gym this afternoon! Make this weekend count people, we work too hard during the week to let it all be in vain ;)

Thanks everyone for all of the support. It means a lot to me to know that I have a lot of great sparkfriends that can help me out when I need it emoticon

I do understand why they laugh at me, as it is a big # of weight to lose by October 15th, but I do wish that they would just humour me for the moment. And if I don't make it to my goal weight (I'm going to die trying though!) then they can still be supportive of me and congradulate me on what I had lost. I just don't like being laughed at... Losing weight is not something to be taken lightly.

So I did take MONIQUEV2's (my partner!) advice and broke down what I had to lose each month and set small goals for myself too. I figuired out that I need to lose a little over 7lbs each month to stay on track. My first goal is to lose 5% of my total weight (which is 10lbs) and the second goal is to lost 10% of my total weight (which is 20lbs). The rest of my goals are basically 10lb increments until I weigh in at 130 :)

I feel a lot better knowing that I have smaller goals to work towards and knowing that I have all of you to help me out, and cheer me on, as I go along emoticon

Good morning BBKB's
I was happy seeing the scale still moving down on a daily basis. I know that is short lived, meaning I know it won't continue to move daily but it will positively move in the right direction.

Today, I end the 4 day flush. New recipes this morning and learned just how much I take the foods I eat for granted. The flush was really not that bad and was similar to the first week on WW, that may have been many years ago,but pretty much all single item foods, no packaged, processed or multi ingredient foods. Just plain old fruit, grains, dairy and meat. I survived. Today, I wake up to some awesome smelling pecan waffles and I am excited for breakfast. Does that seem to be a strange way of thinking. Yo can bet I will take time to savor.

Hi Tiffy,

I am SO sorry to hear that people are bringing you down - honestly, they have no business telling YOU whether or not you can do that. The only positive twist I can put on it is if they are just worried you're in over your head. I absolutely DO NOT think you are in over your head. You have nearly 10 months and that means averaging 7 lbs a month. Totally doable as long as you focus. I started second guessing myself the last couple of weeks when I saw the scale move slower, but at the end of the day I know I can't stress over it. I just need to keep moving, watching what I am eating, and know that EVERY LITTLE BIT counts. I have lost 30 lbs and have 26 lbs to go to get to my goal weight. I set it at 140 and technically that is still high for my 5'2" frame. However, I know losing 56 lbs will make a huge difference. Overall, I would suggest not focusing on the goal weight of 130 lbs but focusing on the fact that you will either be at your goal or MUCH closer to it than you are now. Even if I miss my 140lb goal weight, I will still be much healthier, much more toned, and much happier on my wedding date. You better believe I am going to try for 140 though! Stay positive, know that you have a ton of support and resources here on SP, and that we all believe in you!

Hey, stop that train of thought. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You have to be postive and take control. I know you want to look your best for your wedding but just think, 10 lbs can mean a whole dress size. When is the wedding?

I'm suddenly not having the greatest day. I'm really feeling the pressure of losing this weight before my wedding...and not a lot of ppl think that I can get down to my goal weight before then. At the beginning I weighed in at 201.2 and had to lose a total of 71.2lbs to get down to 130. I'm now weighing in at 194.6. So if no one else thinks that I can get down to my goal weight...what makes me think that I can? I hate being fat! I don't want to be fat for my wedding! emoticon

I have rediscovered something that I forgot: the more I do, the more I want to do. If I just linger and watch a Top Model marathon or something, I have no motivation.

It was a crazy, busy week at school with meetings and testing. I'm so glad I have Monday off because the weekend is just as crazy with kids events, rehearsals, concerts, games and church. But despite that I still excercised 5 out 6 days. This morning was the first time I could touch the weights to the floor when I did my squats. Thank you, Bob!

We can't let the week-end be slack days! We work too hard all week to slack off & ruin what we've done. Find something fun for the family to do that keep you moving!

I did 1/2 hour on Golds Gym cardio boxing and then switched to Wii Sports Resort.. just to have some fun. It kept me moving for another 45 minutes. I'm going to play some more, but I'm taking a rest break :)

Thundercat - thanks for all of the encouragement - I will keep it "front burner" during this weekend.

On weekends I typically eat more, and exercise more -- and on weekdays, I eat less and exercise less --- so here's to another weekend.

I've had my breakfast - cottage cheese and whole grain toast, so off to cardio instead of reading that book I've been wrapped up in. I'm going to drag out the DDR - change it up a bit! DH is going to play too - wow!

Yeah, weekends are tough for many of us. Why cant we just see Saturday and Sunday for what they are, just another day. Most of the time I think of them as relaxing days but tend to misconstrue relaxing with slacking. Activity is usually where I pay the price but not this weekend. Gonna hit the pavement. My goal has been just 5000 steps per day, I have only made that once this week. Gonna have to pick up the difference in the next few days.

Anyway, you all stay positive and know that you are in complete control of your weekend. Do something wonderful for yourself that doesn't include food and reflect on your past week. There is always room for improvement and pats on the back for all the hard work you have done.

great work, Connie.. Just the cooking part is wonderful progress. I think that can be the most challenging part of a diet. OOP! not diet, a healthy lifestyle. Far too may pro's to just eating out or fast food such as cost and convenience but the con's from cooking our meals, priceless!

I find it amazing how you can get a cheeseburger on the dollar menu, not lift a finger to cook it, yet to make myself a nice healthy salad probably costs way more in monsy and time. I guess we just pay for the cheeseburger in other costs and not ones we can afford.

BATHRICR- Oh, yeah, I remember those days or should I say nights. I have no excuses for not getting a good nights rest anymore. My kiddies are 11 and 26. LOL. I just now this is why I feel so tired most of the day. The exercise in the evening has helped a bit. We will see, when the weekend rolls around, I am usually to tired to do much of anything and it's not hard for me to blow off the exercise but I am committed to making it through at leasr one week.

I started with the sore throat and boy did my head feel lik eit was going to explode, last night. I got in my 30 minutes with Leslie Sansone. Just bearly and really wasn't into but figured if I don't I will lose the momentum for the weekend.

The smoothie is just that:
1 cup of pineapple in juices ( you can drain the juice or leave it. 1 cup skim milk and 1 cup of ice all thrown in the blender. I add 2 cups of ice just cause I like it icey cold. Nothing spectacular but it hit the spot after workout and kind of took the place of my normal ice cream treats I would overindulge in.

My body has some sore spots today. Guess all that exercise made some little used muscles work! I am going to make them work again today, I think I'll find something that doesn't involve squats though :)

Also stopping in to see how everyone is doing. For me, weekends are a little tougher for watching calories, but I get more exercise in - so I just need to keep my focus away from munching! Good luck to everyone this weekend.

I would love to get 4 hours of sleep a night. I only get about 45-60 minutes at a time. I think that my daughters have sensors built in that as soon as mommy wants to either eat or sleep, they go off and the girls start crying for something...

Day two of DD flat belly diet menu is done...two more days of the anti bloat. Actually, I was not hungry all day. Didn't care for the fact that she tried to get me to eat the mushrooms, I tried. It's just one of those things that I can't seem to get down. I really didn't think there was any foods I didn't like but I must say, mushrooms and me just don't agree. The skim milk and pinapple smoothie hit the spot after my hefty 20 minute walk. UGH! but I am picking up the pace...three days in a row, Woohee!
My Gowear fit is telling me I am only getting 4 hours of sound sleep a night. Not good at all. Think me needs more activity to make my body really tired. LOL

Hey Lee,
Don't stress the bad day. Good thinking to put it behind you and think about how you can readjust for the day. I know weekends are hard for you. Develop your plan today, be positive and know that you are stronger than you feel. There are certain things we have no control over and then there is this and you have control over it. Grab it by the horns today and go for the gusto.
Hope you have a better day and great weekend!

I am a hummus fan - dipping carrots or healthy crackers in it. I also use peanut butter in small amounts with a couple of crackers. Nuts are good in small amounts. I used to eat the small single serve cheese snacks like the string cheese. I can't have dairy products in the house because of a son with casein allergy.

Maybe others have more suggestions.

Congratulations Tiffy! Hooray!! What better motivation could there possibly be?? :)

As for me, I had a terrible two days. Got some bad news yesterday and was so depressed I didn't eat. I thought that was an okay thing, but then I made up for it today. :( I got past the depression mode and slid right into frustrated. ATE ALL DAY LONG AND MADE SOME BAD CHOICES, TOO!

UGH! I hope they balance each other out. Keep your fingers crossed for me as I have not begun any working out like I promised myself, either. This situation has caused me to have no ambition whatsoever.

But....

Good morning
DD was sent home from school with a sore throat, yesterday. I really thought we could make it through the winter with no flu, virus or whatever. More reason to keep the exercise and lots of vitamins.

Was able to get in my workout again last night. I think the temps should be a little milder today so I may get out for a walk tonight instead of the exercise TV. Just trying to improve on the amount of time, everyday by just a few minutes.

Hope everyone has great day!

My goal is to lose 2 lbs a week and I did it this week. I'm feeling really good now about how I'm eating and getting my exercise in. I made up a sticker chart for myself and I give mself a smiley face every time I excercise. I did allow myself a small piece of cake today to celebrate my principal beig selected as principal of the year but I'll work it off tomorrow. My daughter has even started using my BL dvds when she gets home from school and has lost 3 lbs.

I wanted to throw a comment in here to BATHRICR & B. I suggest that you tell your family that you are doing this for your health and that it is working for you, so please don't try to sabotage you. Then go on and continue your journey, no matter what they say or do. This might be their way of expressing their frustration that they were unable to do it without the surgery. As long as you keep going, eventually they will see the great results you are experiencing and be happy for you. If not, just be happy to know you are doing the right thing and that you have each other to keep you on task. BTW--great loss for the week--very impressive!

BATHRICR I have a question. Does your mom believe that your weight is ok? I know that some families believe being a little overweight is fine. Maybe if you explain to her what just a little belly fat can do to the body she will understand a little more. I really do not get the mother- in law. She should understand how healthy eating is inportant. I know before gastric bypass they give alot of information on this. I hope this gets better for you and your husband. Stay strong!

Tiffy have fun trying on that dress.. there is nobody that will appreciate & make you feel more special than your Mom!

Well I've set myself up an exercise log & am going to start tracking food on here again. Need to get back to the basics & really get myself back on track. I'm pretty sure the gain this week is just monthly bloating, but I'm not taking any chances!

Well, hopefully, the New Year is not filled with anything but good surprises for now on. Just finally get back on track after I had my dad in ER on New Years day. Thanking God it was gall stones and not a heart attack. Alas, running back and forth to the hospital for the week has dampered my exercise routine but not my spirit.

Okay, first of all, I'm sorry ladies! For those of you who don't know me, I can be long-winded at times. (I'll work on it!) For those of you who remember me, I'M BACK! I'm excited to be here, too! The New Year has brought with it a new attitude for me.

The tragedy that struck my family this past March took a terrible toll on me, and I had no room in my brain to think about food or fitness. (You can read about it on my Spark Page if you're interested.) Although this journey is not yet over, I have come to the realization that I cannot put myself on the back burner again. I started gaining weight back, and I just do NOT want to go there again! It took way too long, and way too much effort to just throw it all away, so here I am.

I'm taking baby steps, and my personal goals for this week were portion control and 8 glasses of water daily. I guess it paid off, because I'm down two pounds so far. This week I'm adding in some workouts. I was excited about the weight loss; I wasn't expecting it, because I'm expecting TOM on Monday. I usually gain the week of or the week before that, so I was pleased that just incorporating water was enough to counter-act "the bloat" that comes with it! I'm nervous for next week, though, so I'm determined to get as many workouts in as I can before my visitor has me down for the count. After that, though, it's FULL SPEED AHEAD! GO RED!

I really truly do understand where you are coming from with your family. When I say cheerleaders, I mean anything that would be positive, even respecting what you are doing. You are absolutely right - it is their way of thinking and not yours.

Remember no one can make you feel anything - that's power you have over yourself. This is the voice of experience talking. This is probably the hardest part of the journey but you have the thought process. Just keep saying it to yourself so you won't even heard that other stuff. You can do this and it is a great thing!

BATHRICR & BATHRICB- I'm sorry to hear that your family is not supportive. I really don't know what to say, but to keep your head held high and your eyes on the prize. Monique is right about sounding like a broken record...it will work in the end as they will get tired of hearing it. Stand your ground! Don't let them beat you down so that you're eating junky food and not taking care of yourself. This is your life...not theirs! Just because they choose to throw their lives away doesn't mean that you have to. I think that it's great that you both want to lose weight. You are not only doing this for yourselves, but for your children and for each other :) YOU CAN DO THIS! Just look at how you're doing so far! Give yourselves a pat on the back :) And you have a great support system right here! emoticon

SOCCERDAD1- I think you posted in the wrong thread. This should be under the Weigh in for week 2 :)

MONIQUEV2- You will break through this plateau! You're already doing the right thing by switching up your exercise routine :) Go you!

Thanks to everyone for the congrats on my weight loss. I hope that I can get this weight off before my wedding :)

My day was actually pretty slack today. I didn't do any exercise either. I guess you're suppossed to take a "rest day" once a week, so I'm considering this my rest day and will get back to things tomorrow :) My mom and I are going back to the bridal boutique so that I can try on that dress that keeps standing out in my mind. It should be a way better experience than last Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it :) Anyways, that it's for tonight...I'm tired lol :P Night!

BATHRICR/BATHRICB- Unfortunately, this is where we have to learn to set boundaries. Setting boundaries is a LOT harder for some people than anyone realizes. I was raised by an Italian grandmother who thought that if you were thin you looked sick. She was the president of the Clean-Your-Plate club, and to this day, both she and my grandfather try to force food on all of us. They do it out of love, though, and that's what I have to keep telling myself. My grandfather grew up poor and was lucky if he got one meal a day. Now that he has access to an abundance of food, he enjoys it tremendously and wants to lavish it on us kids and grandkids, especially when he wants us to try out his latest recipe!

I tell you this because I think what you're going to have to do is realize that we can't change them, we can only change ourselves and how we deal with the situations they create. It was incredibly difficult, but I have finally learned to tell them "no, thank you" and not beat myself up for hurting their feelings. As Jillian & Bob would say, it's time to start thinking about ourselves now. We can't always count on our family and friends to offer the kind of support that we need, so we can only count on ourselves. Too many times, overweight people have gotten that way because they put everyone else before them. Your situation is no different. Unfortunately, you may need to exercise some "tough love" if it's too difficult to be around them. If they choose to eat a certain way, that's their choice. But if they try to sabotage you, you may need to remove yourself from the environment until you're stronger.

I hope this helps. I say all that in love, believe me! I have been dieting for two-thirds of my life, and learning these things was only half the battle. It's putting them into practice that's the hard part, and I still struggle with it every day! Remember, you can't change them, you can only change yourself and how you react to them! God bless!

I dont expect them to be cheerleaders for me. I just expect them to respect what I am doing enough that they dont make me feel like I'm a joke. I realize that they may never understand, but that's their way of thinking, not mine.

As far as family members being supportive, I have to tell you that I don't have much success with that. If it's getting to the gym or eating what I should eat, I can usually get it done if I make my own arrangements and then say what I need. But to expect others (family) to be my cheerleaders, I know that is setting myself up for disappointment. SO I don't look for my support there. No one means ill toward me or anything like that. They just aren't where I am and doing what I am doing. In a phrase, they don't get it. I have had to decide that is okay.

I hope that doesn't come across as ugly - it certainly isn't meant that way. I allowed myself to regain weight because I got upset when someone told me they couldn't imagine me skinny. Now who did that hurt? Not the other person, who truly had no idea what an effect that comment had on me. They don't remember saying it, I assure you. But now I am determined in my own mind that this is necessary for my health and well-being. So that keeps me doing what I need to do for success. I passed that test recently when confronted with commentary about my food choices. I managed to get through that without issue.

Once you are successful, you will find others are more complimentary. However, you must prepare yourself to receive comments that may dig at you. Otherwise, you will be the one hurt.

Hope that helps you some and encourages you. Our team knows how this is and wants to be there for you. We really do get it!

Good job everyone your on your weight loss. Even with the everyday struggles of family and work....I know thats been huge hurtle in my family, with the exception of the wife. She is very supportive. It's just everyone else in our family that thinks that my dieting (and hers) is just a big waist of time.

My mother thinks I should just go strait to gastric-by-pass as thats what she had done....I'm sorry I'm glad a lot of people get good results from it; but it's not for me....See I'm a nurse (critical care nurse)and have seen way to many things go wrong with the surgery or I have seen how sick people get if they accidentally or on purposely have the wrong foods...

To date I am down from 1/1/01 17pounds, but to date for the beginning BLC challenge(1/5/10) 10.6 pounds...

Great Job Team! I am not sure what's going on with me the last couple of weeks. After consistency losing 2+ lbs a week, it's slowed down. Still seeing progress, still committed, so will keep doing what I'm doing, and mixing in some new activities to shake things up.

Great job Tiffy! It's awesome to see you have such a big loss this first week. You can definitely do this. Think of how hard you worked for those 5+ lbs. Pounds that will never come back!

BATHRICR Congrats on your big loss too! That's fantastic. I am sorry to hear about your family being unsupportive. You can tell them kindly and then more firmly if need be that getting healthy is a priority in your life. Hopefully if you become a broken record, and they continually see you taking this seriously, they will back off. At the end of the day, you are doing this for yourself and for your husband and children, so that you can be your best for them. I hope your family comes around soon. Great job this week!

I am excited. I lost 4.4lbs this week. I only got a little bit of exercise in, but watched what I ate all week and made healthy choices. I am so proud of myself. Anyone have any ideas on how to make your families more supportive of trying to live a healthier lifestyle?

My mom acts like I shouldnt be losing weight and trying to get healthier. That it's a joke. My mother in law (who has had gastric bypass) seems like its a joke too. That as long as the food doesnt have sugar in it (which causes dumping syndrome for her) you should be able to eat as much as you want of it and not care about it.

I just need some help...the hubby is extra supportive. It's just everyone else. They want me to eat pizza when I go over, or other things that just arent what I need right now. Sorry about being a bother...

Way to go Tiffy!!! Very nice loss.

I had a gain, but I think it is mostly due to TOM. I'm hoping thats the cause. I ate better this week & started exercising.. so didn't see a gain coming :(

Wow, I am so proud of myself! I'm down 5.8lbs in 1 week! I'm amazed! I wrote down everything that I ate using the WW points system and I also got in 2 cardio sessions and 1 ST session; which is a big improvement from not watching what I eat and not exercising! Go me! I feel like I can actually do this and get down to my goal weight before my wedding! emoticon
