Tina, sorry your co-worker is a pain in the pattooti (smile), but you handled it great - walking is a great stress buster! Self-centered people are never fun.

Gosh, tomorrow is weigh in already - where did the time go? I need to really drink lots of water and get some walking in so I can pull the best number possible.

Good morning...
So, I got up early two days in row and did my walking. A success in it's own right. Two last chance workout days will get me 90 minutes both days. YAY!
I did a walk with Leslie yesterday and then got a nice evening walk in last night. Got up and through on some clothes and walked the dog for 42 minutes. I will tell myself I feel refreshed and I guess I do but it's hard to convince my body that I enjoyed being out of bed two hours earlier.
The evening walk last night was used as a stress relief. I have this obnoxious co-worker that just returned from vacation and thinks that I should be helping her get caught up on her work or I should stop what I am doing cause she needs help fixing something, Like right now. Plus she doesn't say a single word to you all day unless it pertains to something she needs. She is so anal it annoys me. So the walk kept me from relieving anger with food.
Well off to another day at the rat race. Enjoy your day!

Just popping in quick to say hi before bed. My happy moment of the day was returning to ballet tonight. I looked dreadful and am totally out of shape. But I missed it so much. It was great to be back!

Ah, another Monday - and I'm going to start with a nice walk this morning - Tina, you've sold me on walking for today!

Hope everyone had a good weekend -- gotta keep that focus on the weigh in for this week, so my goal today is to drink lots of water as I was a "slacker" this weekend with water intake.

Good morning everyone! So far I have managed to stay off the scale this week. This may not be the best thing long term but right now it is eliminating one source of stress. My main focus is to get more sleep at night. With the gowearfit monitor, I can tell how I am doing. So far I have gone from a low of 5 hours 26 minutes to a high of 5 hours 48 minutes. This is still way too low but I will take a positive trend wherever I can find it. More sleep equals better weight loss so I have to work on it.

I can smell the soup from here. Yum! That's one of those wonderful things about fall. I love breaking out the crockpot for soups and stews even if our temps are still in the 80's. Well, not today. It was overcast and a nice cool breeze has kicked up this evening. So, I went out for a little walk. Just a short 20 minutes but after spending all day with the laundry, grocery shopping and I even helped DD with preparing the foods for the week, it was nice to just get out of the house and check out the neighborhood halloween decorations. I haven't had the ambition to do mine yet. Lots of ideas just haven't got it done.
I truley hate exercise. The kind that seems to just drag on for hours and then when I look at my fitband and it says 8 minutes, it makes me even more depressed. I feel like it has to be something that makes me feel like I have accomplished something for my time. I know, I know.. we really are accomplishing something it's just not the something's we can appreciate at that time. I always have the "No time" to do it excuse. I wonder if we had an extra hour in the day, would we use it to exercise. I think if we always say we don't have time, we never will have time no matter how much time we have.
It takes some doing but all I can suggest is to start out with just a 15 or 20 minute exercise a day. Walking for me releases a little tension as long as I go alone, but it goes much quicker when someone is walking with me and I will actually get more time in that way.

I agree with you. I can work both ways. I have heard that weighing everyday is not good but I find weighing daily helps me right now. Kinda of like hating surprise parties. LOL
I know that it can backfire. I know that it can lead to fustration at times but on most days it makes me try harder if I see a gain.

i feel so much better to just have the veggies already packed for each day of the week! Also thinking that when I limited my weigh in to once a week is when I started gaining weight and when I start gaining, I dont even want to weigh at all., Now that I am weighing more often just out of curiosity, I have laready lost two lb plus some since last Wed! Sorry but for me at the moment, that is huge!

Rebecca - Thanks. I will have to look into them. Maybe think about getting one for myself for the holidays or asking for one. My newest thing is that I now buy presents for myself so I know I will get what I want. I am tired of waiting around for people to "guess" what I am want so I save up and then buy it!

Tina - What great exercise!!! You were good to yourself and did something good for others at the same time!! Go you! How exciting that your daughter is going to help with the cooking for the week. Would she like to do mine?

SusanQ123 - you did the best you could! Sometimes the best laid plans don't work out, but the point is that you tried which is more than we all would have done before. I have definitely been there before where I did some planning and then just failed miserably on the carry through for reasons beyond my control.

No offense to everyone who isn't doing so well on their to do list but you are making me feel kinda accomplished! I am totally kicking my closet's butt! Its gonna be all pretty in just a little bit (I just needed to take a quick break so I could stop sneezing from the dust).

MaryAnn - Can you throw the cake out? I went a first birthday party yesterday and they wanted me to take some of the cake home. I was like "NO!". Luckily it is a friend who I know from ballet so she understands some of the pressures. Can you post your recipe? I love my new crock pot, but I am still on the lookout for some new recipes. I am with you on the formal exercise! I haven't done any in weeks and cannot wait to go to ballet tomorrow night!

So I have a new motivation (aside from this challenge). I just got a new dress that I ordered online that was Final Sale. It is a fantastic BCBGMaxAzria long formal gown that I bought for a wedding I have Thanksgiving weekend. I got a fantastic price on (hence why it is final sale). I did the best I could estimating the size as I went by other dresses that I have in my closet from the same designer. I just got it and tried it on immediately and I love love love it! But (you knew there had to be) it has a little bump over the butt because I definitely put on weight in my rear. I would like to lose about 6-8 pounds by then (which I think is doable) and I figure I can always get a pair of spanks. It fits perfectly in the bust and I already knew I would need a hem (gotta love being short). Even without losing the weight a pair of spanks would fix the problem so no worries but it just adds a little bit of motivation. YAY for a new dress!!

I love how as I write this Kim Kardashian's QuickTrim ad comes on.

Ok, back to my closet!

Good Afternoon,
Not as sunny today but maybe that means RAIN, which we need so badly!

Yesterday the neighbor lady brought over 1/2 of a birthday cake from her party. Um...gosh, thanks. I can resist it, but my husband can't! It's a testament to trying to keep the tempting foods out of the house.

Crock Pot full of vegetable barley soup today. Wish you could all come over and share it. Oh well!

Admire you all so much for your exercise! I haven't formally Exercised for weeks! My job is so exhausting that I can't make myself do it when I get home. I need some tips for motivation!

I forgot to post yesterday, too. :( I had a so-so day. I went to a baby shower, and the food they served was pretty healthy - except the desserts, and I ate two. I had also hoped to get a ton of exercise. I did get some (dripping with sweat playing DDR on my Wii!), but had hoped to do some exercise other than playing the Wii.

I hear everyone about unproductive weekends! I have a huge to-do list today, and am going to try to be productive, but I never seem to get as much done as I think I will, either.

Shoot, where's my post from yesterday -- phantom? Anyhow, hello everyone - hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend.

Yesterday was Family Fun Day at my little one's school - sad to say I ate some foods that were on my "no" list, but they didn't seem to have anything out on my "yes" list, and I caved to eating - as we planned to have lunch there and I was starving - not even a salad either - darn...so, I will focus on more water today and a little more of a walk, and move forward.

Good morning..
So much to finish before the weekend is over and not enough time as usual.
Yesterday, I pumped in 124 minutes of cardio according to my Fitband. We helped out at the local nature center hauling out garbage. The heat was awful for a Late september morning. The reservior was nearly empty and we gathered over 2700 lbs of trash. Good day for the exercise and the environment but oh was I exhausted when I got home and sadly indulged in somethings I just should have left alone. DD and I are off to grocery shop for the week. Guess I can't complain because she is going to prepare all the meals for the week with an healthy menu.

That's a good question. I have searched a lot and found conflicting ideas. AS best I can tell, they are both made by bodymedia. So I suggest taking a look at them yourself and seeing what you think. So far I like mine which is called GoWearFit.

Rebecca - I understand your theory of weighing yourself once a week, but its funny, I find myself losing a bit more control when I weight myself only once a week. I find I am better able to notice trends and see how I am doing, as well as keep myself in control with daily weighing.

Connie - Good for you for being so successful. Just dont spoil Grey's!!! I am super behind and need to get seriously caught up!

Suz - I am sooo sorry! Sending you happy thoughts and lots of hugs!

What is the difference between a BodyBugg and BodyMedia? Mind you, both are probably out of my price range, but I am still curious.

I have only been writing stuff down in a notebook. It is quick, dirty, and simple, which is exactly what I want right now. No, I am not counting calories, but I am more aware and that is the first step!

I think part of my personal goal for this challenge is to work on finding a balance in my life. I am working too much and need to start focusing a bit more on me. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hope it's been a good Saturday. I got my 45 minute walk in with a few running intervals. Life still stays wild but I am trying to keep up. Gowearfit/ Bodybugg still telling me I need to go to bed sooner. Got 6 hours 10 minutes Thursday night. I upload data each night so it will encourage me to go to bed sooner. My eventual goal is 8 hours. Bet I would feel heaps better with that.

Beautiful day! I wish we could all get together here for a long walk and a picnic!

Planning on spending this week off of work to get my house in selling shape. I need to move on, get into a house that suits me better now. My kids still want a place to be able to come visit, but this wasn't their childhood home, so no worries there. They won't miss it.

So sorry, Suz. It's so very hard to suddenly lose a friend. Rest assured that we are all here for you!

Suz, so sorry to hear of your loss. We are all here for you!

I did okay on the eating today - I went over by about 100 calories, which isn't great, but is an improvement over my recent eating habits, so I will take it as positive progress! I didn't exercise, though - jetlag got the better of me. I am going to sleep it off tonight, and then get some serious exercise this weekend!

Having a hard food day. Sadly to say have retreated back to some old habits because of stress. An online friend died suddenly Sunday and left behind her husband and 5 kids. I should of came to SP for help sooner.

Shira, Yes we can do this, just have to get myself through today. Keep telling myself baby steps, one step at a time.

Rebecca, I use notebooks to track my food now. I find it easier then the tracker here and it reminds me of WW which worked for me twice in the past.

I actually have the bodymedia one too but everyone knows what a bodybugg is. It tells you things you don't want to know, like how much you didn't sleep the night before.

Love the Body Bugg - I have the BodyMedia, and it really is the angel on my shoulder! I do find it easier to enter my foods here and then list the total at the end of the day - probably because I'm so use to this site already.

Got a little walk in this morning and already planning dinner for tonight. I have found that planning works so much better for the family to eat healthy than to wait until the last minute.

If hunger isn't the problem, then eating isn't the solution!

I have restocked all my $1 insulated lunch bags to prepack daily fruit and veggies and started using my two 32oz water bottles...and cooked twice in one day. Also rearranged my workout doing the weights first so I could get home in time for Greys Anatomy which was a letdown to me...but got more exercise in than usual.

With this little body bugg device, I have to type in my foods and so that makes you think twice about what you eat. I found it hard to log stuff here on sparkpeople but I know folks who think it's the best plan. Notebooks are only about $1 so you can buy that too. I have committed to weighing myself only once a week because the up and down of daily weighing drives me berserk. So unless I have a good reason, I am only going to weigh weekly.

Good Morning!
I agree about the writing-down-everything-you-eat effect. I don't eat as much, I eat better, and maybe just maybe I'll lose a pound or two!
Thanks for the nbc.com advice. I'll do that this evening.
Today should have been the first day of my vacation, but yesterday at about 1:00 a big pile of work appeared on my desk. Augh! So, I'm here 1/2 day today to at least do what needs to be done before I'm gone for a week. I'm not complaining, but good grief, could you look at the vacation schedule when you're handing out this stuff?? Golly.
Tentative goal: 10 pounds by Christmas. Here we go!

Julie - I am so jealous!!! I loved Florence when I was there and wish I could go again :)

Nature - Be Careful!!!

Tina - Don't stress too much. Sometimes I don't lose weight until a week or two after I make the changes so it is sometimes hard to tell what triggered the loss. Just remember you can do this and you will!

Mary Ann - if you find where it is on rerun, please let me know. I am going to look online but I just feel like I have no time for anything right now!!

Suz - Just remember that baby steps keep us focused and moving towards our goals. We can totally do this!!!

Not too much going on with me except much too much working!!! That is actually what I think is causing me some of the most trouble. I work full time for the school system and then I go to work in a restaurant and the fries and potato chips (housemade) are always out so it is just so easy to reach in and grab. I need to come up with some way of stopping myself! I'm also frustrated because I can't find my little notebook that I write what I eat in. I am finding a definite connection between what I eat when I write it versus when I don't which, in my mind, equals "must find notebook".

Hi all,

I'll try not to rub in how great Italy was. :) I am very lucky to have gotten to go there for work! Tina, yes the gelato is much better there than here. It's just really smooth and rich and creamy. Hard to explain. There is plenty of flat walking in Florence. Most of the downtown is very flat. I just happened to want to go to a bunch of places that had nice vantage points, and of course nice vantage points means elevated!

I'm still struggling a bit to get totally back in the swing of things. I had a strength training session with my trainer today, but then couldn't motivate myself to do cardio afterwards. My eating has been okay, but I've been doing too much snacking. I think I might need to re-implement the "no snacking after 9 p.m." rule. That one usually helps me lose weight.

Mary Ann, I believe you can watch the episode on NBC.com as well. I do the opposite, I watch TBL on Tuesday, then watch the elimination episode of Dancing With The Stars online the next day.

Good Morning,
I haven't seen the new show in its entirety yet, either, since the Dancing with the Stars elimination show was on at the same time and my husband (aka Remote Control Controller) wanted to see that....so I only got "commercial break peeks".

It should be on demand soon, and I think that Bravo or the CW or one of the other channels re-runs it on the weekend. Not sure which one.

I did not know that this was Turn Off Your TV Week. Oh, dear.

Great to be back, I must say, but I'm not back from Italy like some people (my gorgeous partner Julie), just back from Excuses Land.

Ok, I'm jumping on the "I'm jealous you went to Italy" Bus - wow, you are one lucky gal! I wonder if I could convince my boss he needs to send me to Italy..LOL!

It's been a quiet week - been trying to keep my focus of getting on the treadmill every day - minus yesterday - yesterday was a "lay in bed and heal" day, but today is not - which reminds me, I think I better go and do that now since I just had breakfast - cottage cheese and whole grain toast - yum!

I know this probably sounds dumb, coming from a person wha has gotten to go to so many cool countries during the past 2 years, but I AM jealous too! Italy is one of those places on my "really want to go" list. But I'm afraid my love of Italian food might just be too strong for me to lose any weight, despite all the walking. LOL

Good evening..
Despite all my butt kicking and really hunkering down with keeping calories in range, I managed to gain for the first week in. I have convinced myself that is muscle gain. HA.
Wow, Julie... I am like so jealous. Glad you had a good time. Tell me, is the gelato really alot better in Italy and is there anyplace you can walk without having to climb a steep hill? I bet it was beautiful. Glad you made it back safely and just in time.
You must come from the same gene pool as my husbands family...they butterfly everything. LOL. Hope you heal quickly. Injuries are such an inconvenience. How did you manage to burn yourself three times?

I'm just checking in for the week. Tomorrow is going to be a bad day for food at my house, it's my youngest's 1st birthday party. I can do good with the veggies and fruit, but the cake and ice cream on the other hand...I'll just have to eat them sparingly...fill up on the healthy foods. Oh well...Have a great week everyone!!!

I am really worried about myself. I have been extremely clumbsy as of late. In the last week I have, Burned myself on my forearm, my thumb and my pointer finger... all at seperate times.

Now today- cut my thumb; I really could use stitches but just got some butterfly bandages and wrapped it up. If I bend it, it splits wide open, so I have it in a splint. It's gotta heal quickly.. I got things to do!!!!!!!

Hi all,

I'm checking in a bit late, but I'm here now! My excuse is that I've been in Florence, Italy for the last week - rough life, I know! The trip was for work, but then I stayed a couple extra days for vacation. It was amazing, and I did a ton of walking and climbing to high up vantage points, so I managed to lose a pound or two while there (despite eating daily gelato!).

I have been saying for a while now that "when I get back from Italy, it will be time to really focus." So now is the time! And I'm really glad my "fresh start" coincides with the start of this BL season, because this team always helps me to stay on track. As does my terrific partner Mary Ann! I am going to really try to go postal every week this time!
