I usually don't make resolutions. This year I'm using the winter challenge as mine. Yes, I've told everyone about it.

I start resolutions Febuary 1, like I did this year when all celebrations and stress is over.
My resolution I started February 1 was to lose 40 pounds by the end of the year. I lost 48 pounds.
I have celebrations in January with my birthday January 12, many free meals on my birthday and during the month of my birthday from various restaurants. Some U.S. restaurants will sing to you and give you a free cake.I get 3 cakes from different people. There are a lot more birthday restaurants to go to in the U.S.A.the restaurants you sign up for and get a email with the coupon. The site is under a "search for free birthday gifts".
Next years resolution for February 1,2017 is to get my weight to my final goal by April 1,2017 My goal weight is 135 pounds. This way I always keep my resolutions!!!

Not any more. Usually broken by lunchtime New Year's Day in the past.

Why wait to try to change? Sorry I'm a bit of a bah humbug sort of festive season person.

I do. I write them down... "During this new year, I resolve to... "
They are really just goals for the year.

I don't do resolutions. I do, however, have several goals that I write down to work on throughout the year. Calling them resolutions make it sound like everything has to be started at the beginning of the year.

Never made New Years resolutions. I have never understood the need to make resolutions on some arbitrary date. If there is something I need to work on - I work on it. Everyday is a new day.

I make resolutions...then don't follow through completely. Last year was the closest I came, and I did get healthier and I lost quite a bit of weight.

I do make New Year's resolutions, but I haven't finished the list yet.
I usually don't tell others my resolutions.
They do help me make lifestyle changes.
I make resolutions oftener than New Years, I make them every season. I used to make them at New Year's and at the start of school in the fall, and then I decided to do spring and summer as well.

It was always to get healthy, as long as I could remember. This time I started it before the New Year. So My New Year will not be that kind of pressure.

I would have to say if I make one it will be to steadily increase my activity and to do at least 6 5k's through the year, if not more. I really want to be able to run one some day.

Yes, I make new year's resolutions. Do I expect to perfectly execute them throughout the entire year? No, of course not, but it helps me get my mind right and focused on what I really want for myself.

Side note: On another team I am running a December challenge where the challenge is to make and keep at least one OLD Year's Resolution for the month. This not only makes the most of the few weeks we have left in the year, but can help start the new year with a sense of accomplishment and some healthy habits already in the works!

Yes, I make resolutions. They are my hopes and goals for the year. They aren't all or nothing type of goals that are easy to give up on after a few weeks. They are lifestyle goals. They are something I revisit at various times of the year like the start of a new season, or the start of school. Yes, they are sometimes the same from year to year, but its a journey not a destination. Its my lifestyle I'm working on. I wouldn't be here if that wasn't the case.

I stopped making New Year's Resolutions quite awhile ago. They rarely lasted more than a couple weeks and I think my record was sometime in February. While a new year sounds like a good time to make changes, I struggle with increased pain issues during the winter months, post-holiday depression and sometimes a serious case of winter blahs. I often struggle to keep myself moving and motivated for normal, everyday functioning. Not a good time to try to change things.

So, I figure any time I find myself with the energy and motivation to make a change during other seasons is a good time to start. June seems to work well for me. My birthday is towards the beginning of June which helps with the idea of a fresh year to start in.

I make my plans for the New Year starting February 1,when I lost 50 pounds last year starting that date, after the holiday stress and eating is over!
My resolution is to get my weight to 135 pounds and maintain it all year. I have never set a date to finish this. I plan to eat healthier and keep up with my 3,000 minutes of exercise a month. Last year I set a date of December 30 to lose the weight and I did. This year with the small amount left to lose I plan to do it by the summer,no exact date!!

I do not make NY resolutions. I think for the typical person, they last about a week. emoticon Instead, I am making a list of things I would like to get done in 2017, such as get to my weight goal (9 pounds to go) and then maintain it, keep exercising every day, and paint the downstairs rooms in our house and declutter.. I do have goals set to reach my final weight and the exercising is no problem because I've done it for over a year and enjoy it.

There is the old adage that New Year's Resolutions are made to be broken so I generally don't make them.
However last year I told myself that I was going to begin exercising at the begining of January (I never start on January 1st though) and then work on losing weight. Here I am just about 50 pounds later still exercising 6 times a week most weeks (unless there is some unusual circumstance - that has happened rarely). emoticon emoticon emoticon

So for 2017 I'll promise myself to keep exercising and to lose that last 20 or so pounds to get me into an healthy BMI and reach my final goal weight. Then the "fun" of maintaining begins! emoticon

i stopped making New Year's Resolutions years ago. For me, and I'm sure many others, too much emphasis on "starting with the new year..." seems to give permission for doing whatever you want through December, and then sets you up to fail under the pressure of making the huge changes necessary on January 1st.

Rather than starting in 2017 as a resolution, I'm working a new plan now... Well, it's not "new," but it IS more defined and focused.

To put it simply, I'm developing and implementing multiple ways to better organize my time, so I can complete the daily & weekly tasks I want & need to do to reach my goals.

This includes incorporating other events, both planned and unplanned, into my schedule as efficiently as possible, and staying on task in general rather than using those events as excuses. (For example, regular trips to Colorado; and DH's upcoming surgery, or possible health-related setbacks.)

It all sounds like a mouthful when you say it out loud, but putting it in writing has helped me to clarify how to get where I want to be!

I don't make New Year resolutions. You make them and by February they are forgotten. Every year I see SP get flooded with newbies at the end of December and January. By February you don't see hide nor hair of them anymore for the most part. It is a shame. I figure if I don't make them, then I can't break them. I do have goals.

Last year I wanted a car. emoticon
Wanted the surgery done and over with emoticon
Wanted to maintain Work in progress for life
Wanted my Mom still here. emoticon

2017 I need to move. My landlords are in their middle 90's and I don't know what will happen---working on it.
lose at least 8 pounds and maintain--work in progress. emoticon
have a better year than 2016 emoticon

I always do best with a running start - in December start making changes.

2017 No red light foods - desserts, appetizers, crackers, chips. Daily exercise!

My 2016 year's resolution is working so far.

2016 Goal - to change my self defeating eating behaviors once and for all. I need to be strong minded and carry out actions that will help me become healthier and more disciplined. Each day I will remember - I used to be that way, but now I am different.

I quit eating my red light foods - desserts, appetizers, chips and crackers. In August I resumed desserts and now have occasional appetizers but absolutely no chips or crackers.

I lost 32 pounds this year and want to keep that loss till Jan. 1st that is the true test of my resolution.
