I love her journey and how honest she is about her past, how this journey is for her and about loving her body, not hating it.

Now she has posted a video about it.

Her comments about attending a retreat is interesting--there are things people don't want to face, but never-the-less are true and therefore impacting us--if we realized it or not.

The positioning of the camera and the light make some difference, but you can also see that most of it is all Cassey. The tone in her muscle, the definition in her cheekbones, plus she looks a little more confident with the photo shoot. I love how bold she has been on this journey, the things she has discovered, the way she took us along on the journey with her... What a difference 90 days can make!

I dislike that so many people turned on Cassey for wanting something and going for it. I think that she is very body positive, and I agree with how she explains the term.

I know my Grandma didn't have a computer and didn't want one! My DH's Grandma won't have one, and her youngest, that is currently living with her, has a computer, but is so paranoid about it she only gets on every couple of days, and won't use Google, and believes all the stuff about the government collecting data on you and all that. We just don't tell her that we actually have Alexa in the house, LOL.

I've been watching the progress Cassie is having and it has given me so many ideas for my own progress!! I had a walking program, 12 week, that an exercise physiologist I used to work with had made for me, and I made copies for 'just in case' and because I wanted to highlight each day I got finished... well my YDD didn't close the door right to my pup's kennel (another reason we kennel her, she eats/chews everything!!) I went to get her the next morning to find that walking program chewed up... I can't find my extras!!! So now I'm doing what I remember from this week while trying to find something similar. So far no luck. I may just have to copy down this week, and try to follow the formula he used in that first week to recreate it for the 12 weeks.

When I was growing up, I remember my grandmum being upset by not being able to "trust" everything you read. She passed away almost 40 years ago now, but I've often wondered what she would think seeing what most people can do on their cell phones in terms of faking videos/photos/recordings.

I also watched her video, she made it a blog too, of decoding Instagram beauty standards. Wow. She had her own 'glam' pictures taken and finished and she looks like a totally different person! And finding out that sometimes they switch picture heads and bodies just weirded me out!! I already don't pay attention to Instagram and told my teen DD that she can't have an account, and now I'm so glad I did.

How wonderful for you! That must have been really neat to do! I had started a Youtube channel on training my dog, Hope, to be a service dog. Well, I abandoned it because I hated how I looked. I'm feeling a bit better now that I've lost some weight, but the weight gain is making me pause. I want to start back her training, she is going through what they call a fear stage and I need to start working on getting her out of it, if it is possible. She may have to just be an ESA with a little more training than most. She can tell me when I'm about to get a migraine, and will pester me till I get up and take something for it. She lays her head on my head. It started when I had a bad migraine and she didn't know what to do but wanted to help, so she tried to lay her whole body on my head!! This was the happy medium we came to. She has actually fallen asleep like that, and snored softly while trying to help my migraine. She is such a good pup! I want to video our work on trying to work through her fear stage and trying to still task train and train on fun commands to help her confidence. If I manage to start, I'll link to my Youtube channel in a message to you if you are interested. Or to the blog I'm trying to start that will connect to the videos.

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Glad you are here--the good days and the ones which aren't so good. It is wonderful to get to interact with you. I've been working on a very intensive editing project and the (short) film I made & edited aired and was not certain it was or wasn't received well yet. However, if it is good in the eyes of others or not, it just feels great to be DONE with it!

Thank you! I remember learning how to keep up in Basic Training with marching, I was one of the shortest, so at the back and had to learn to stretch my legs, while the tall people at the front had to learn to shorten theirs. It took a while, but when you march everywhere you go, you get the hang of it pretty quick!

We didn't start the calendar yesterday, though I'm hoping to soon, I'm starting to go into a depression, my psychiatrist is doing his best to help me, but these things take time. I had a rough food day, and I won't let that happen again. I'm going to print out my meal plan and only eat what is on it!!

I finally faced my home scale and wrote it down. I'm going to measure this morning, and take a pic after everyone gets up so I can get dressed. I'm not happy at all with how much weight I gained, so it is making me very mindful of everything. Depression or no, I need to get my steps and cardio in, plus the more active I am, the more it helps with the depression.

LOL! When I went to university, I always took several elective credits during summer school--all focused in on the things which I found most interesting without it impacting my overall schedule/studies in the degree program I was in at the time. During summer school they had marching band camps sharing some of the dorm/campus space. It was hilarious as EVERY WHERE I went they had the pavement, sidewalk, cafeteria, dorms, shower, etc all marked with Marching Band step width so everyone could practice walking together in rhythm with one another. Best wishes to all of your household!

Very useful, THANK YOU!! I've saved most of them to a new playlist I made for the Bosu Ball and the other ones I favorited for future reference. As my DH says, my Google-fu is not strong, LOL!

I'm starting Cassey's beginner calendar 2.0 tomorrow, with my kids, and will be doing the treadmill, as well as the Bosu ball training. I'm going to see how I am at the end of the calendar to determine if I need to do it again, or if I can start doing her regular monthly calendars... will probably need to do it at least twice!! My oldest has decided she wants to be in marching band next year, so she is all for getting in shape now so that she'll be okay and won't wear out too easily next year.

Oh wow. I don't know if this is useufl to you or not--don't know what search items you got back but my logged into google search results are all about exercise! (blushing) so I get a fairly quick and accurate return on their you-specific search algorithms. Just searched for standing bosu ball workouts and this is what came back:

Thanks for the link for the planner contest!

And WOW at that balance workout! I need a very basic, basic one. I used my weekly Spark Coach email to ask about one that is standing, not down on the floor like so many I have seen. I don't use the Spark Coach email often because I've found their answers to be so generic and often I can do a better search on Google, but this one is one I'm having difficulty finding one on.

I think it is cool that Cassey shared that she gets so hungry when she is on her time of the month, so do I! I want to snack constantly! I'm trying really hard to eat well, but today was baking day and we made scones and two loaves of banana bread. I love fresh out of the oven banana bread. The scones, meh, I wasn't happy with them, too much baking powder and my daughter (this was her project) made them too thin so they were too crispy. But we found a recipe by Alton Brown, and will be trying it in a few weeks. During our search of Alton's recipes we found a power morning muffin recipe that looks like a breakfast carrot cake, but more healthy, lol. Going to try making it and see if the kids like it enough to eat it for breakfast. I'll have to pass, I'm trying to stick to drinking a shake for breakfast.

I did get some more sleep last night, but not enough, was able to take an almost hour long nap with the pups today, but that does not seem to have helped. I am exhausted now though, so hopefully tonight I can get some sleep! Gotta go make the bed, and I'm putting on my weighted blanket, that should help too!

Hope you are having a good one, and watch out for the flu virus, it has started early and is a nasty one, DH has it and I'm starting to feel icky, but taking lots of vitamins in hopes I don't catch it!!

Saw today that Cassey's post in her 90 Day Plan includes a give-away of the planner she is using for tracking if you are interested in trying to win one.

Sorry you aren't sleeping better! That's horrible. Makes things difficult.

Saw that gal from the #100GluteChallenge today has a balance workout that is incredible! She is a ballerina which explains it but still--its no doubt super difficult to do. Look at t his crazy video...

I found a few things for the Bosu ball that I'm going to use bits from each.

I think I slept an hour, maybe 2 last night. Could not sleep at all today, though I tried. Thought about working out in the middle of the night to tire me out, but then taking a shower would have woken DH... so decided not to. Got a lot done though, on the computer, with my planner and other paperwork. I've had insomnia for a long time, and it acts up like this with my mood swings and such. My doctor just put me on a new med, so I'm hoping it will stop this before it gets worse, but most meds take at least two weeks to get into your system, so not really sure, some meds is almost instant. Gotta read up on it tonight and see what it says.

So proud of Cassie! I'm going to start her beginner 2.0 calendar. Because I'm finding I'm just that out of shape, but really wanting to work toward my goal. Printed it out and starting it as soon as I get back into a somewhat regular sleep pattern. I don't want to work out on this little sleep, not healthy. I keep finding that I want her fitness journal. I almost bought it today, but talked myself out of it. I'm trying to spend less, and I have two planners already (a goal planner and then the Living Well Planner).

I think I'm dehydrated, which was one of the reasons for deciding to drink water first thing before coffee. I have insomnia bad tonight, so I've barely slept and have been up reading Cassie's blog and searching for beginner Bosu Ball workouts and such. I'm thinking if I can't sleep, maybe working out will wear me out enough to sleep, lol.

In the military they teach you that perception is everything. At least, in the Air Force (lovingly called the Chair Force, LOL) they did. But I think outside of that, breaking through other people's perceptions of you to show the real you is important, and for me really difficult. I have social anxiety, so it is hard for me to come out of my shell. I'm a little scattered, not getting much sleep does that to me, so I'll try to write more when I'm more coherent! LOL.

Hey there! Glad you are enjoying the posts. So sorry you are having such a rough time. You have lost a lot of weight. I personally believe that takes a lot out of a person as in requires more sleep to heal up the body from all of those changes. Its a good thing, until you want to get stuff done! So sorry. Glad your working through it though!

About that water, I've heard that too, but that it has to be room temp. Also heard another version that it has to be warm! maybe there are so many versions of any given piece of advice out there because people are really so different in what works best for them and people are giving their real advice of what does work best for them and it just is that different. I've tried all three (cold, warm, room temp) and room temp works best for me (cold causes heartburn for me, and warm is too much of a hassle to keep the habit up for me). I get a glass before bed, set it on the night stand and cover it. The benefits are real but subtle. I notice them in the days I don't do it--rather than noticing it the days I do.

www.blogilates.com/eew-dont-
call-me-an
-influencer-day-6-of-90/

Cassey's day 5 of 90 blog is about being an influencer. So like that Cassey is expressing herself in her blog. She has had some level of influence or impact on my life. Her exercise videos and my choice to participate (or not) in them, also really do impact my overall life. I am stronger and more able to do things. In that sense the label fits but I personally don't enjoy being labeled myself so I get where she is coming from about it.

I do see her blog posts highlighting a bigger issue: how we see our self isn't always how others see us and we don't get to control other people's thinking, expression, or what they think/say about us. It is a needed part of life to accept that which cannot be changed and embrace it even. Once I know what someone is thinking (differently than myself) it makes it easier to connect with them and get the "stuff" out of the way.

I had not had the time to keep up with the blog posts, so thank you for posting them so I could catch up! I could not follow quite how she eats either, we think I have diverticulitis right now, so some foods hurt to eat. I'm mostly Paleo, but a protein heavy Paleo. Though if left to my own devices I would eat more veggies than anything else, lol.

I'm amazed she has already lost weight! I'm like you, a turtle. I'm having to work on tweaking my morning routine, I've been having seizures or migraines like every day, so after the kids leave, my body automatically goes, 'we can go back to bed now, right?' Even when I'm doing okay! I'm battling depression at the same time, so it has been a really hard struggle these last few weeks, but I'm a work in progress, and I'm determined that today I'm going to make some progress towards actually working out!

I used to have a yoga block, it came with a bunch of exercise bands that I bought, but I didn't really use it as I wasn't into yoga at the time. Now I wish I still had it. If you find out how to make your own out of old jeans, let me know, I'm hoping to be down the next size in a month or two and that will give me several pairs of jeans to work with!!

I love her journal, I just can't afford the time or money for another paper journal of any kind! I think keeping track on SP is just as good. And DH is making an excel spreadsheet that will show a graph off to the side to show my progress, hopefully that will be motivating!

One thing I read that I wanted to share was that your body wakes up better if you drink a cold glass of water first thing, before coffee or anything. Don't know if it is true or not, but going to try it, as coffee now seems to have the opposite effect on me and makes me want to go back to bed... weird.

Thought I was posting some summary of these and the links daily--however, when I showed up today, there are two days I've missed. Hm....

So here it goes. The food Cassey is posting, while not great for me and my allergies (we are each so unique), I still find encouraging to see what she is eating and working out that way! Here is just one example:

Looks so delicious, nutritious, and filling. Love the portion size. That would work for me.

Like too that she talked about guilt. I think it is fun to "find it" (like a scavenger hunt) and then toss it in the trash. Guilt is only useful if it is instructive.

This reminds me, I've been meaning to get some of those yoga/pilates blocks. They are great for positioning! Do you have some? Where did you get yours? I've also seen on Pinterest instructions for turning old fabric you have laying around into these wedges, pillows and blocks. I may try that. I think old jeans (I have several I've shrunk out of) would work well to not be slippery and still be supportive.

Did you notice from Day 1 to Day 5, Cassey has already lost weight? WoW! Definitely not a turtle like me!

lol! okay, so to be honest. the first time i tasted matcha i thought it tasted like a combo of eating leaves (remembering my very first girl scout camping trip when someone stirred leaves into the pancake batter), dirt, and mowed lawn clippings. seriously! however, while the texture isn't what i'm used to, i love the effect, and over time the texture is growing on me. it has caffeine in it, but the impact is not the same as drinking the equivalent in another type of beverage such as soda or coffee. it can be flavored. (purists would scream here). cinnamon goes well with it (say good bye to the off notes). i don't use sugar but one could put in a sweetener of choice. the thing is its 5 grams of fiber for cup! i have an entire pinterest board with matcha recipes on it, but so far i've not got around to trying many...some day that will likely pop up to a higher priority than it is right now.

maybe its not time to put that level of focus in to this yet for you. sounds like you have a LOT going on. not everything can be the #1 priority we are working upon at any given time. Best wishes in cleaning out that scan dye. That stuff is nasty until it is gone! But oh so helpful when imaging is needed.

I'm sad that she had so many people overreact and actually talk about her mental health!! I saw nothing in what she wrote that raised any alarm bells. I guess some people just can't be happy for other people.

I wish I had her motivation right now. I'm trying. I want to do better, but my health keeps getting in the way. Today was an abdominal CT where I had to both drink the iodine stuff, and have it through IV. Ugh. Now to drink a ton of water to flush it out.

And you are right, when we step out of our comfort zone, we also step out of other people's comfort zone with us. I'm dealing with that with DH. He's happy for me, he's proud, but I'm sure it's also difficult to deal with the changes.

How does matcha taste? I've wanted to try it, but I'm not sure i want to invest in all the stuff, just to end up not liking it... I'm trying to grow my hair like Cassey is, I'm taking a supplement for it and it is starting to finally work, but I think more collagen would be great.

Just finished reading today's blog entry. Here is the link
www.blogilates.com/am-i-rela
psing-day-
3-of-90/

The first part of her blog, reminds me of so much I hear in the media these days. It also reminds me when ever we make changes, other people get frightened. So we have to be prepared for it so that their emotional well being isn't derailing us--going into reassurance mode for others while maintaining determination mode for one's self. Most of the emotional grief in life is about the other person. Realizing this and helping them cope with their issues, while not letting it impact your own is a great accomplishment.

I have a Matcha tea whisk like the one Cassey uses. I also enjoy matcha tea.

Realized too that in the beginning of this journey, Cassey mentioned her body doesn't do well with a number of things like dairy. I think it is great to pay attention to, learn, and then cope well with what ever doesn't work for you, as well as learning what does. As I looked down her daily diet--it would kill me. Literally. It is great to know what works and stick to it. No two bodies function exactly the same on the same fuel. Like the putting food up idea for those busy days--or even helpful when you are the only one eating a particular way. I generally minimize the time involved by prepping and putting up one new meal or dessert a week....that way I'm not doing it all the time but with regular consistent effort have a nice stock pile. I'm still occasionally enjoying the sugar-free low carb keto friendly fudge ice pops I made several months ago. Doing this made my summer so much more enjoyable without ruining my diet or exposing myself to allergens I don't need to be consuming just for the sake of grocery-store convenience

@CROUCHINGFLEA So with you on the "Brain Dump" and I also feel the same way too with planning. I have a very old app installed, Wunderlist (which is still working but I understand it is no longer available to install) that reminds me of all of the basics and I have a list for each specific area of life: exercise, daily routines, bill paying, grocery shopping, birthdays, etc. and I can maintaining everything without fear of forgetting anything or having "planning" keeping me awake at night. Very useful.

Love this!! I love how she is taking it back and being authentic! I'm trying to do the same. No more excuses, and do what I can. She is inspiring!!

I like her journal too. I do what I've heard called a 'brain dump' at the end of the day, either in a notebook or on a word doc that I keep up on my computer screen so I see it first thing in the morning. Everything that is on my mind goes onto that brain dump. And if there is something I know I need to do the next day or sometime during the next week, I go ahead and put a reminder on ToDoist for that day, so I don't forget. It does help me to sleep. I have insomnia bad, so I do everything I can to insure I can have as peaceful sleep as possible!

Well here comes the second post in this 90-day journey! The part which really struck me was getting to see how she uses her journal. I've never seen the inside of one and I can see how useful that could turn out to be. I also liked the style of writing - much like the use of a SP blog for many of the people here. There really is something to writing a "recap" of your day and seeing where it did and honestly admitting to one's self where it did not meet your goals. For example, last evening, I was having rare difficulty going to sleep. I grabbed my journal, wrote a recap of the day, and then I immediately fell asleep. There is just something about that process which is "clearing" so to speak.

@CROUCHINGFLEA I so know what you mean that a lot of people wouldn't consider 10 to 20 pounds a big deal. Of course, if you earn a living in fitness, it no doubt is a bigger deal than for others who earn their living in other lines of work. I think too so often people gain weight after the big events: getting married, going through a divorce, having babies, loss of a significant other, etc. that has to be (unfortunately) pretty normal now to gain when life is changing. That's great you've figured out what works best for you.

I just got done reading her post and while I think a mere 14 pounds isn't much (I'm biased I think I was 180 pounds overweight so 14 does not seem like much to me now, but when I was at my fittest, I would have been reacting the same way she is) I applaud her. I love how she does not care that what she is saying doesn't seem 'body positive', I hate that term, because so many people use it as an excuse. Not everyone, there are medical reasons for obesity, but I won't go down that road.

I love how real she is being about it. And her dieting. I'm finally coming to grips with what I can and cannot eat. I'm going (have been trying to go) mostly Paleo. But I refuse to give up my coffee. I had intended to. But I think we all deserve a few 'guilty pleasures' and coffee is mine. The non-dairy creamer I use is not Paleo for sure, nor is the bit of sugar I put in it. I can't stand sugar substitutes, not even the more 'natural' ones. The after taste makes me gag.

What I find amazing is that she is so open, so raw and honest, and real. I'll be following her daily for sure!!

Lots of newly married people gain weight. It is "a thing." Proud of Cassey for admitting it and posting her plan. No one should have to live up the (often false) expectations of other people.
