I tried Trivia and I could not use it had some adverse effects on me.. I don't use sugar at all anymore. took some getting use to but I am getting along okay.

The pain passes ~ only the beauty remains...

I only use Trivia in my coffee to tea.....My dr. tells me that is only one that is not harmful, since it is from the leaf or a plant.

I am working on eating LESS sweets now since there is much sugar in these...This is hard
since Christmas had so many delicious things.....
reading the calories or logging WW points has helped me with this so far....

I am trying hard for no added sugar! This includes sweets! I have been doing better with limiting my intake of chocolate and other sweets over the last 6 months! emoticon

I still need to add a wee bit of sugar to my coffee and tea, don't know if I can/will be able to go sugar free but still hope to. It took me a long time to get this far.

Of course there is sugar in our fruit and other foods, we have to be very diligent in watching those extra, natural sugars but they are the best ones for our intake.

Been sugar free for two weeks today. Feeling so many benefits! better sleep, hands that feel fabulous as are not swollen and painful, able to do my almost daily exercise, less cravings, eating healthy all around, lots of veggies! and sleep that is angelic. So grateful for all of these benefits and the motivation this way of eating keeps me wanting to continue with it. Can only hope my family will get on board and they are especially thrilled that Mom/wife is happier and not cranky anymore and wanting to be involved in every aspect of their day as well as my own. Would recommend giving up sugar to everyone. I did have a small amount in balsamic dressing but have switched over to oil and red cider vinegar with my own spices and that is totally yummy! good luck to anyone that tries this for themselves. It is a great way to start each day!

Watched this about a year ago and I'm on a low-carb/high-fat, Ketogenic lifestyle. I've lost 63 lbs last year, have lowered my Ac1 blood sugars to 5.9 and am continuing my no-added-sugar life! I eat/drink less than 25 net carbs a day and it's transformed my life!

I decided on a sugar-free October, and have been surprised at how 'easy' I've found it. I'm now on day 24 and I have no sugar cravings at all. I'm planning to keep this going - not sure how sugar-free I'll be in the long-term, because I think 'special occasion' sugar might be a problem for me, but I'm optimistic!

Harriett, we started making meals at home when I retired and held the time. We consumed very little food that was processed in factories or industrial kitchens. When we decided to pick up a prepared meal for a quick bite, we were very surprised at how salty it tasted.

I agree that once one stops using a particular spice, it is really noticed when it is used.

I watched the both films about sugar. I think what wasn't very clear to some is that it was said not to shop in the aisles of your supermarkets. The natural sugar in fruits and vegetables are not counted. They are the healthy sugars. Whenever you eliminate a flavor that has been used for a long time it takes a while for you to get use to not adding it to your food. You then begin to taste the real flavor of what you are eating. I did it with salt and found the taste that my food actually has.

Propaganda like this film make me sad and a bit worried for our future. Saying "Sugar is not Evil" at the end of the film does not undo the damage it does to some folks ideas of what is or is not healthy. This all-or-nothing attitude is not a good one.

This man consumed more sugar than an average person. Since he held his calories at the same level, this means he was consume few beneficial calories. The sugar did not make him sick, avoiding what was nutritious in order to not go over his calories is what made him sick.

The film was miss leading and deliberately slanting facts. I dismiss it as a grab for financial gain without considering how the message might be received. Some folks are going to believe that avoiding sugar will make them healthy. Some folks will not bother to research why our bodies need sugar and what comes to us if we do not get enough.

The USDA suggest consuming less than 10% of our calorie intake as ADDED sugar. (This does not include naturally occurring sugars as would be found in carrots, applies, and such.) For an average diet (intake) that means 200 kcals worth.

Recently I stopped all added sugars. At first I had the shakes and really really craved sugar. I also started low carbs too. What a thrill that now 12 or 13 days later, I'm no longer having cravings or shakes. I am also down nearly 10 pounds too!!!

I watch that Sugar film last night. Wow, what an eye opener! I added sugar to my tracker and is definitely something I'll be paying attention to. I started reading labels last night after the movie. I'm so glad BF watched it with me, he's very aware now too. emoticon

I have not watched The Sugar Film yet, but I knew that we were and are being poisoned and we really need to educate ourselves.

I remember taking my lots of what I was eating into my doctor because my sugar was too high and I didn't understand how to bring it down. When she looked at my logs, she told me not to be concerned. She told me that I was getting 99% of my sugar naturally, through fruits and the 1% was questionable and not healthy for me. She told me that I was good to go, which made me feel much better.

I just started watching that Sugar Film and I'm amazed at all the negative changes that happen quickly when the guy starts eating more sugar and how much sugar was in certain things and also interesting how that started happening. It seems like the food industry is out to make us sick and it's making me quickly rethink how I want to do things.

Tracked my sugar intake today. It wasn't as bad as I feared it would be. I consumed 23.5 tsps of added sugar. That's a lot higher than my overall goal but not as far off as I thought it would be. Hooray!

Just finished watching That Sugar Film...YIKES! That was completely terrifying to watch! That poor boy from Kentucky whose teeth were rotted from drinking soda...Anyways, my new small goal for this week is to track my sugar intake Monday-Saturday. I need to see just how much sugar I'm consuming. Then next week I want to wean myself down. 6 taps will be my ultimate goal.

In addition to 'That Sugar Film', give the film 'Sugar Coated' a watch. It goes deeper into industry deception towards the public with some very significant findings. It's on Netflix. This topic makes me very angry. The fact that money drives the motivation, not interest in public health, is a complete travesty. Things need to change.

I used to always put sugar and milk on my morning oatmeal. Then I switched to Splenda. Now I eat it plain and have no problem with it. It's amazing how you can train your taste buds.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And
maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

Glory, Dr Axe spoke of stevia. It's a type of sugar which I will start using when I finish my Splenda. You can put creamer in your coffee to see if you enjoy it better.

Yes, thank you Chris, I just watched it. I've tried sugar substitutes but then heard they aren't good for us. Other than drinking my coffee black (I tried and can't!), what do I put in it to sweeten it?

Thanks for sharing that video, it has great info that we need to know.

Have you seen "That Sugar Film"? It's an incredible documentary about the dangers of hidden sugar. Even though I knew a lot of the information when I watched this a couple of years ago, the motivation from this movie caused me to immediately change some behaviors.
