I agree with all - it is very easy to "lose" your way when you choose to eat non-keto foods, and sink back into the flavors and the emotional hold of sugary/starchy foods.

There is definitely an aspect to eating that is not physical at all - but if you get to the point where you just don't eat "those" foods anymore, you do get used to that. And someday you might get to the point where you just eat for fuel, not pleasure. I'm not quite there yet, so still get pleasure out of my foods, but have changed up the foods I get pleasure from and make sure they are all keto.

PS - don't be hard on yourself - it's a journey, not a quick bullet train.

The more I read, the more I believe white sugar is the Spawn of Satan!! Even in Biblical writings, sugar is not used. Anything sweet refers to raw honey or dates or fruits eaten from the tree, and they all are eaten in moderation (or were told to eat in moderation.).

The longer I go off keto and get sugar, the harder it is to get off sugar and back on keto.

She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.

My arthritis in my hands is less painful since being on Keto, that alone is WORTH IT to me. But this said, there are many who want nothing to do with Keto and I figure it is not my job to convince them. Those that "have ears" I share with and those who don't I just keep it to myself!

I went off keto for three days due to extreme stress that I was dealing with. By day two, my inflammation was back and I had difficulty sleeping. On keto I slept well snd had been off my arthritis meds. There are so many benefits to staying on keto. I need to turn to healthier options when facing stressful situations and not carbs! Even walking was not helping.

We had a patient in our office today (dermatology) that was telling me about his wife, who had to take Lyrica for nerve pain. We were actually discussing insurance, and evidently that is one of the drugs with no exact generic, and the closest things didn't help much.

He went on and told me she had gained lots of weight (my size 5'2") and was now 190, so depressed, and had a host of other ailments including kidney disease, HBP, diabetes and more. It got me to thinking of how she might benefit from going keto - to see what if any (many) things improved, but of course it is not my place in our office to broach that subject.

But I wonder...

people dont get it. I didnt get it!! i had a sparkfriend who keeps telling me she wants to do keto then says no tell me the other day she was going to try it. she got some online book...then messages me OH!!! i cant do this. NO WAY!!
i said hey..i havent bugged you to do it..i can only tell you a LOT of my problems resolved when i started keto.
and i'm a true believer. sugar is not good. and thats hard for me to say as its my livlihood. the one thing i CAN say is that people come to me for special occasions, not like weekly or anything. and i ALWAYS tell them..an 8" cake SHOULD serve 24 people. not 6. not 8. 24. they all laugh and say surrre..but seriously, an 8" cake should serve 24. maybe if we ate those tiny amounts like was meant, it wouldnt have made us all so sick...

What got me to start this topic was a commercial I was on TV, just moment ago about a drug called "Fasenra" for asthma something with eosinophils, the cells that are impacted.

I used to have pretty dramatic asthma symptoms when I visited friends with dogs or cats. But not since eating Keto. So I thought, for those folks who are considering such asthma drugs, what about cutting carbs, could I find a link on the internet supporting that idea.

I googled "eosinophils carbohydrates" and found this:
www.hormonesmatter.com/eosino
philic-es
ophagitis-sugar-thiamine-sens
itive/

Title: "Eosinophilic Esophagitis May Be a Sugar Sensitive Disease"

Sure enough, sugar, the purest of carbs, may make worsen this problem, just like my allergies to dogs and cats. Why wouldn't less pure carbs (wheat, rice ...) also contribute to the problem?

It is increasingly recognized that there is a mismatch between our ancient physiology and the western diet. There are many diseases virtually absent in our hunter-gatherer ancestors, or in "non-western" populations. These diseases of civilization include:
1 - coronary heart disease
2 - high blood pressure (hypertension)
3 - type-2 diabetes
4 - autoimmune diseases
5 - obesity
6 - osteoporosis

I have 3 and 4 and a little bit of 5.
