I like using tortillas for snacks pr meals (don't forget desserts).

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

I think that this is a super frugal snack, meal, mini-meal...

Use up all the leftover veggies & meat in the fridge!

I do not have dry ranch, so I am just going to use flat out bottled ranch dressing. Cheaper too!

Tortilla wraps are mega cheap, right?

What do you think?

Well, for cheap there's the favorite "ants on a log" which is celery with its trench shmeared with any nut butter, yogurt cheese, cottage cheese, cream cheese, then topped with ants. Sorry, topped with raisins or craisins. You can throw a peanut or such on there too for variety.

Also, the fiber and water content of celery is good for us.

I haven't found a cheap source for dates, but dates mashed up and rolled in peanut chunks are said to taste just like payday candy bars. I just read that today.

I've enjoyed eating slices of apple with a cube or two of cheese.

How's that for quick ideas?

For dessert, I took two leftover canned peach halves with light syrup and cut them into dice sized pieces. I had 1/3rd a dry cake mix left, mixed it in with a heavy sprinkle of ground cinnamon, 2 Tbsps of olive oil and nuked it in a sandwich-sized plastic storage container. Time was 4 minutes on 50%, then 5 minutes on power 9. I let it sit about 30 minutes in the microwave. It was fluffy, tasted good, no egg or extra table sugar added. It served two, but I ate both of them.

Would all of you consider placing good snack recipes here? Easy to make, cheap and possibly healthy? I often get hungry in-between meals and do not want a mini-meal, just something small to pick at. I love Chex Mix, but too expensive to make or buy. Thank you!

Here is the basic El Cheapo Cold/Iced Coffee recipe (can drink at room temp as well) that I posted on the Welcome page.
emoticon
Use 3Tbsp (+) reg-grind coffee per 2C Rm-temp water. Cover at let sit in fridge 12-24 hrs. Wah-lah! Use coffee ice cubes 4 best results if you want it iced and not diluted.

The results are smooth, as cold water does not leach the acids from the beans/grounds.

x-x-x-x-x

emoticon Now I like to use 1heaping Tbsp coffee to 6oz hot water for my own usual use, which is the normal directions for coffee since Modern Society began. For the GRAM-folks out there, that's about 15g to 6 ounces. If I'm wrong, tell me. I have yet to take my use of grams out of the oven and use it regularly elsewhere in the kitchen.

When I'm looking for stout coffee, I do 1 heaping Tbsp per 4 oz hot water.

Just saying. I normally zap the mix for hot coffee to 185F, then I pour it back and forth with another mug 4-6 times. I then use a fine-mesh strainer for the final pour into the now-preheated mug. Tada! Fresh, hot, tastes like old-fashioned boiled coffee and easier cleanup. I've even done this with styrofoam cups at work instead of drinking the watered down brown coffee-colored water they made for us.

Keep the peace. Vigilance!
