Congrats on quitting!

I highly recommend chewing on a cinnamon stick. I quit 4 yrs ago (after 22 yrs) and in a program I went through before that, I learned that cinnamon really helps with the cravings.

Every drag on a cigarette triggers an insulin release, and it takes your pancreas at least 3 days to adjust how much it's used to putting out (hence cranky, hungry, etc.)

It's worth every challenging minute of it.

July has been a bit slower, because of our vacation (where I gained 2 lbs) but then I lost that and more this week, so overall it's a continuous loss.

The mall's a great idea. We thought we couldn't afford a gym membership, but several Planet Fitness locations have opened near us and we joined ($10/mo.). It's truly a "Judgment Free Zone" too, so no stress about needing to look perfect before going.

Well July is about over, but better late than never rt. Well am not sure if have had weight loss or not or just held steady yet. I'm just weighing once a month, so next weigh will be aug 1. I did quit smoking on July 4th so I am now a non-smoker after 35 yrs of smoking. I overate fierce for 2 wks, but I am back in control now an doing much better and tracking my nutrition daily. I feel so much better since I quit smoking and am not gonna, let it get to me if I do have a weight increase for July. It was worth a few pounds, to get rid of cigarettes, if I did gain any. emoticon I'm ready to get healthyy.

If you don't want to keep starting over, don't give up in the first place.

Checking in. So far this month has been pretty good. I was 241 July1 and now July 21 I am 231. I have been working out hard at the pool most days for 2 hours at a time and making great healthy choices of fruits and veggies. I am really feeling great. I am down a total of 120 pounds, and counting!

I hope everyone is keeping cool. It has been really hot here in Ontario Canada too. The humidity is awful most days. I can't wait for the beautiful days of Fall! emoticon

Just checking in...July in NC is awful too. We seem to go from mild 60's straight to 90's in a day, then it's 90-100 for weeks on end.

I highly recommend the mall. I have AC, so I do workout at home, but I walk at the mall for some social. I don't have pool access, but that's a great option too. If you have to walk outside, just be sure to keep drinking water.

A friend of mine recommended freezing berries into ice cubes or freezing pureed watermelon or other melon into cubes to cool and flavor your water (since fruit's fresh now). It seemed like a great idea and you get some nutrients too. Just thought I'd pass it along.

60 pounds is phenomenal! As of July 3rd, I'm down 89 this year. I'm excited, yes, but I still have 180+ to go...Steady is the key :-)

I am so excited! I keep losing! I am down to 220. My goal is 127. What I am excited about is that being healthy is more of a habit for me lately. And that I am deciding without much thought to walk instead of drive to the store. And I am steadily losing 1-2 pounds a week. Every time I weigh myself it's either the same or lower. NEVER HIGHER! Woo hoo! I never thought this would really happen. :)

I'm excited-I finally hit my 60 pounds lost today. Feels like I have been in the 50's forever. 40 more pounds to go to make my 100. I am hoping to hit it by Christmas.

I have a suggestion for those who don't belong to a gym and don't have A/C...walk at the mall. I hadn't even thought about it until a friend of mine said that is what she has been doing this week. Malls in our area open early for mall walking. Some of the food shops are open for drinks and sandwiches, and you can window shop until the stores open if you like. If they aren't open early enough for you, take a walk after work or anytime before they close. I think it's a great idea! You can get wonderful ideas for what you will buy yourself when you reach your goal emoticon

Yeah, I think I will just start getting up at 5 am to walk. I don't like walking in the dark, so night time is out for me unless I sleep in, lol. I wish I had AC! lol

I've switched over to Leslie Sansone's advanced walking DVDs, so I can walk in the a/c! It's just toooo hot.

June was a wash for me - too much stress and not enough exercise - so I'm back with a vengeance for July.

im in the same boat with the heat, unable to afford a membership n such, i exercise with a fan directly on me at all times.. thats bout the best i can suggest, that and taking late night or early morning walks, when the temperatures and sun are down!

Every journey starts with a single step, every step motivated by a single thaught, but nothing happens without God, choose to go with him and you can accomplish anything!

I don't know how anyone exercises in this weather. I can't afford a gym, I don't have ac, or a pool and it's 90 degrees inside my house right now. That's my July. My June was great. I'm trying realy hard to keep it up but it's very difficult. I think I will be going to the mall tomorrow some time and walking there. HELP! lol

I dropped it, too. I got sick on July 1 and wound up having gall bladder surgery on July 4. I am home now - a little sore but more tired than anything.

Sorry I dropped the ball, I was sick (still am a little) and then left the country for the weekend. Now I am back! June was a great month I hope you all met your goals too. Now for July, my knee started acting up our last day on our trip so hopefully it won't slow me down when I get to the gym in the morning and do the elliptical (happy thoughts). WooHoo, July is here!
