been working out of three months and my weight just increased! i've been doing jumping jacks, dumbell lifting, stretching, dancing and running but it increased from 50-56! my diet consists of rice and veggies since the atmosphere of my country requires me to eat carbs and lentil soup. i have clear soup as snacks and fruits are very expensive here so cant change my diet, except the amount of it. but if i reduce my amount...i'll get sick and end up in the hospital

Heya,

Exercise is so important but for weight loss to occur, diet is more important. If you dont eat clean, youre not going to see results. Your exercise is probably just stabilising your body so you dont gain weight..

put it this way, if you eat a candy bar that has 350 calories, and then run on a treadmill for half an hour, you still havent probably burned enough to negate the bar. Is your cardio intense enough?

THE GOLDEN RULE:
Weight loss = less calories in than calories out.

If you want to see weight loss that makes you feel different, then try making small changes to your diet too... it's hard at the start, but it becomes second nature after a while!

Try doing more muscle building, like lifting weights. Your body gets use to cardio pretty quickly and quickly finds more efficient ways to do exercise that don't require as much effort. If you start doing some weight training you should see some more results.
Also just staying active for that long is a great accomplishment!

I have the same problem. I actually ended up going to the doctor about it. Nothing came of it but there are lots of thing that could be medical related that can stop weight loss from happening. I'm just trying to do lot of cardio this time around and see what happens.

I have done 3400 minutes of exercise this year (badminton/walking/zumba/xbox kinect fitness thing/exercise bike), and don't have a particularly bad diet (i don't really eat take away/ready meals/red meat etc, and don't drink alcohol very often), yet i have only lost a couple of pounds since January and don't look any slimmer.
It's really disheartening to put in that much extra effort and get no results, especially as i don't put on weight if i stop exercising (makes me wonder what the point is sometimes, as i stay the same whether i exercise or not..)

Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong? Any advice would be useful, thanks :) x
