Day 2 of Week 1 was yesterday and we shaved 4 mins off our total time which was great!
I did find it a little harder for my legs to want to run - it seemed like the 60 seconds DRUG ON forever, LOL.
We do Day 3 of Week 1 today. I talked to my buddy and we've decided to do either walking or something on the days that we aren't doing the C25K - that way we're not just sitting there.

If HE leads you to it, HE will see you through it.

ESMILTON, you think you're slow, I put the 'slow' in 'slow fat runner!' After 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning I didn't break 1.5 miles. Of course, I have an old treadmill and the number looks way off compared to the ones at the gym, which I think run a little fast, but even estimating an average betwee the two I doubt I came close to 2 miles. I'll find out Saturday if I get up early enough to run outside.

I really enjoyed day 2 this morning, even though I was eyeing my water bottle the whole time. I think I need to get up earlier so I can drink a little more before starting. I'm also starting to form long-term plans with this. If I stick with something for 2 days, I can usually turn that into 2 weeks, so I don't want to look much farther than that, but I'm thinking about making the 3rd run each week, which would fall on a Saturday, an outdoor day. Eventually I'm going to have to run outside, chunky or not.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

I did my first work out this afternoon. I followed the instructions of jog for 60 seconds and walk for 90 after a 5 minute warm up. I was proud that in all I walked/jogged 2 miles in all today in about 35 minutes. I know it was slow, but I figure that is how it is supposed to start. I am excited! :) I like running and I did it a lot last year, I just got lazy and forgot how much I enjoy it. It really is the perfect "me" time. I am glad to have found this group, a little support can make all the difference. emoticon

Well, I did not want to get out of bed this morning, but I did it anyway. W1D2. Yay! I did it really slow again, but I am just proud that I talked myself out of the bed when I didn't want to get up. Once my 31 minutes was complete, I felt so good I ended up walking an extra mile. It's amazing how much better you feel once you just get started. Keep up the good work everyone!

Congrats to us all for making a start!

My feet are pretty swollen today, even though I iced them for some time last night. I'm hoping that over time my feet will get used to it and adjust. If not, it'll be back to the elliptical.

On the other hand, I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill and looks like week 9 sessions will take me 40 minutes, so as far as foot pressure, I don't have to last much longer than I did.

Congrats!!!

I know I'm surprised that I was able to do it as well - and I'm not nearly as sore as I thought I would be. Today starts my second day of Week 1 and I'm stoked!

Today was week1 day1 for me. I DID IT!!! the last run segment, I was definitely feeling the burn. Ullery's podcasts were a life saver for pacing and keeping me energized and engaged.

I actually did it... (shakes head in wonder)

I run again today and I have to say I'm pumped! I know Monday we made it a little over a mile and a half - we were both pushing strollers, so our arms didn't get used at all.
I'm hoping my husband will keep the kids so I can get out and really get my arms involved.

Today was my second week 1 run--but I did 30 sec run, 90 sec walk cause I can't run a whole 60 seconds. I think it was easier than the first time but it was so hard that I can't be sure lol

I'm looking forward to running again Thursday!

Well, I officially started. I did my first session on the treadmill at home. I can't say I was very fast but I was consistent. I didn't look at the timer while running, but did while walking. Go figure!

I'm really glad I started interval training on the elliptical at the gym a couple weeks ago. My heart and lungs are in pretty good shape so I can focus on my legs and make sure my foot strike is on the ball not the heal. My thanks to whoever it was that mentioned that. I can't even remember what thread I saw it on but I think if I'd done heal strikes, which would be really easy on a treadmill, my plantar fasciitis would be flaring up something awful.

We'll see how I feel tomorrow but for now I feel good and am looking forward to doing it again Thursday, hopefully in the morning this time.

Yesterday was Day 1 and I did it like it told me too. Thank goodness for the C25K app I downloaded on my phone - it told me exactly when to switch and what to do, what a life saver!

I'm a bit sore today but after some Advil I'm sure I'll be good to go in no time.

My neighbor and I are doing it together and we completed a little more than 1.5 miles.

If HE leads you to it, HE will see you through it.

Today will be my first day of week 1. I officially started Saturday, with my first run. But since it was the end of the week, it was just a "freebie". My week 1 will be Today, Thursday, and Saturday.

I'm running 30 seconds and walking 90 seconds. It absolutely kicks my butt. But next week I'll try again for the 60 second run, and we'll see.

Wish me luck!

That's a good plan S7F23B ~ I plan on doing that if there is a week any of us are having difficulty with. My original plan was to repeat each week twice but this week went really well for us. I think next week will be a real challenge for us and we'll probably have to repeat that week twice as all other upcoming weeks.

Yippee! The kids and I completed Week 1 this morning!! They did so well and I am so proud of their progress and it's only been 3 times!

DD7 is having the one needing nudging still but she's doing great overall and as long as she's moving I'm happy =)

DS9 was running and walking circles around us all! That's exactly what I have been after him about ... he can run like it's no body's business but he hasn't been - he's been getting better each day now that he's getting used to the fact that we're doing this =D

DD11 hasn't complained about her leg since the first day we ran. As I suspected it was simply she didn't want to run at all - she wanted to read and talk to her friends instead. She's actually been running quite well in a long beautiful stride in tandem with DD14.

DD14 really wants this. She's the one looking for the benefits of doing this program and getting into shape. She is the one that spoke with DD11 and got her to run without complaining by running with her and I'm sure some other sisterly stuff as well.

DD15 is running this with friends in Washington but I won't know how she's really doing until she comes back and I can see her and compare her to the rest of us. The child can run when she puts her mind to it but generally she'd rather not put forth the effort.

I am improving as well now that my feet and legs are feeling better over this past week since I've gotten my arch supports in my new shoes. I'm loving that! Today was the first time I passed the girls and I wasn't even trying to. At first I thought they were just going slow today but then I realized they weren't and that my laps around the parking lot were lengthening during each run and walk session ... I'm not nearly as slow during my walks either as I kept the pace up pretty good during the walks.

Overall I'm very pleased and really looking forward to starting Week 2!

S7F23B, great suggestion! I am planning for the entire program to take AT LEAST 12 weeks, as I have a feeling that there will be weeks that I will need to repeat as well. I like the idea of starting slow (which I did today) and repeating with a bit more speed. We CAN do this!

So I completed W1D1 today and am quite happy about it. This is the third time that I have begun the C25K program and am determined to complete it this time. I have had lots of trouble once I get to about week three, so I am approaching it differently this time. Today I walked and jogged slowly. Most people would not consider my 3.5 mph jog anything more than I walk, but I was jogging! I plan on repeating each "week" at least twice, but maybe even doing it a third time, increasing my speed each week, before progressing to the next week's challenges. It may take me half the year to complete this, but I am determined to complete the C25K this time.

To everyone else participating in this challenge. Congratulations! I am proud of all of you too. We will get through it together and make our bodies healthier one step at a time.

I just completed day 1 of week 1. I am so proud of myself!!! I have been saying that I wanted to do this program for such a long time, but I always found a reason not to. Last night, I decided that I was done with the excuses and I gave it a try. I am happy to say that I did it!!! I am not a runner at all, but it wasn't that bad. I am looking forward to Wednesday to my second run.

So I have finished Week 1. And I feel great! I've always hated running, but this time is different. I've been enjoying it so much that I've actually been doing the intervals for almost a full hour. I can't wait to move up to week 2!

We are on a W F M schedule - so yesterday we did W1D2 ... here is my blog about it ...

Well, we had an even better morning than the first!

We actually got out the door within a few minutes of 8:30 =) I got up this morning and cut up a huge watermelon for our breakfast then prodded everyone to get their running and swim stuff.

DD14 ran and walked with DD11 to keep her going.... there was not one mention of her leg hurting - yay!

DD7 did better as well.... I had her do her laps within a parking spot and for some reason that made it easier for her. DD14 said something to her a couple of times to keep her running {during the last couple of running portions} but that was about it.

DS9 was obsessed with wanting to know about the 5K - especially about the prize money!! So he definitely kept me breathing good cause I had to continuously talk about it lol!

I'm very pleased with how this morning went and everyone's efforts!

I can't wait to see if the two days off will affect the kids or not. I'm hoping they will be even more into it =)

Just back from W1D3. I'm sweating and red-faced, but I feel great. Even though alternating really fast walking and slower walking seems to be right for my level of fitness, am I cheating by calling it a C25K workout? Should I move to a walking team? What do people think?

Hi all. My name is Michelle, I found spark just a little over a week ago and liked C25K concept. I figured since it was so close to a new month that I would start on June 1, which I did, and tonight I did W1D2...along with a BUNCH of other stuff because of my guilty conscience about lunch with my hubby. It's our anniversary so I let myself go at lunch then regretted it for the rest of the day =D, I made myself work off most of it...enough to not feel guilty anymore.

I did 2 days this week on the treadmill. It's hard for me, so I modified it making it easier for me. I did 11 min. day 1 and 13 min. day 2. I know that sounds like just a warm up and it was, but I have to start somewhere and running while fat is not fun, but I'm going to do it anyway. Thanks for starting this team.

I blogged about my first day with the kiddos so I'm just gonna copy and paste to make it easier on all of us!!

Alrighty, today was the first day for the children and I to run the C25K! Seeing as how I am coming back from injuries I am taking it slowly and I think I did great today =D I did not get a headache like I normally do after I run which means I was doing something right.

DD16 is doing this while she visits relatives in another time zone!

DD14 did better than I did and passed me several times (we ran in a cul-de-sac) ... she did complain half way through that her heart was about to explode and I had her breath and take it slower which she paced herself behind me and then the last couple of rounds she wound up picking up her pace and passed me... I was proud of her form and the fact she kept with it even when she wanted to give up!

DD11 has an attitude problem as it is and it has nothing to do with exercising :/ but she also recently healed from a fractured femur... the fracture is completely healed but she is still building muscles even though physical therapist and doc were surprised at the lack of atrophy - a testament to her good health and fitness =D =D =D .... but she complained about her leg during the jogs/runs so I had her walk - not sure if it was an excuse or if she was really feeling it - though she does bike for hours around the neighborhood and walk around the neighborhood and swim for hours - not sure but I'd rather be safe than sorry... she was told she could immediately start playing soccer again while in therapy but I will be asking the physical therapist about it just to make sure.

DS9 is an energizer bunny ... the boy can go and go and go and go and go ... you get the picture. He used to run a mile in 4:15, so I'm hoping to get him back to that again... it'd be great if he could beat the grown-ups at the 5K in December!!!

DD7 has only run around the gym floor during practices for warm-ups so this was new to her... she did pretty well even though she did try to get away with solely walking as much as she could - then again she tends toward lazy when it's not exciting for her ... so I've gotta try to come up with something to make it fun for her than just beatin' feet on the pavement!

Overall I have to say it went well though .. the kiddos will get used to it just like they got used to getting up early to go swimming for a couple of hours and having to walk to the pool instead of drive.

W1D2 - Followed my plan to alternate brisk walking with slower walking, and I think it was just right. It was really difficult (I probably couldn't have held a conversation during the fast intervals), but not so horrible that I wouldn't want to do it again. I made a C25K playlist on my ipod:

Warm-up - 128 bpm
Fast intervals - 132 bpm
Slow intervals - 128 bpm
Warm-down - 124 bpm

I'll continue to increase the intervals, along with the C25K plan, but if I find it getting too easy, I'll also increase the bpms.

My calfs are hurting this morning. I know I need to get fitted with running shoes but that cost money. Still trying to get week 1 down.

I did W1D4 (since I'm stayin' on week 1 for another week) tonight... for going 4 days w/out doing this, I did alot better than I expected!

Have to share this w/ ya... as I was putting on my running shoes tonight, my hubby & I had the following conversation:

Hubby: What are you doing?
Me: Putting on my running shoes...
Hubby: Why? Are you going somewhere?
Me: To the track w/ Twila...
Hubby: Are you really gonna keep this up (referring to C25K)?
Me: Yeah, why?
Hubby: I'm just surprised that you're staying so dedicated. I'm really proud of you!

That made my night!!!

Another day at week 1. It seems like each week I'm getting worse instead of better. Only managed 4/8 jogs because my calves, shins, and back hurt. I don't even breath that hard because I can't do it enough to get to that point. I'm hoping when I get running sneakers instead of the old shoes I have it will get a little better cause I'm gonna be stuck at week 1 for months if it doesn't get better.

Will try to do more on friday. Have zumba tomorrow.

emoticon to all Week oners!

Unfortunately, I need to put my knee to rest a couple of days before running again. It's been acting up a bit. I will have that knee checked by my doc.

Anyway, this is just an intervall. One day at a time!

Great runs to all! emoticon

Hey I completed week one day one on sunday and I thought thatit was really motivating. Everytime I go out to run I do about 5minutes and i can hardly breath but this showed me that gradually building up will work as i managed the full 20mins, I know its walkin mainly but im hoping by the end i'll be able to run everyday with ease. Anyone just starting?wanna be my c25k buddy?? Please check out my blog too http://landithinks.blogspot.com/ x

I just finished Week 1, Day 1, and boy, did I find out how out of shape I am. I tried one interval of running, but my knees started to hurt and I was out of breath after a few seconds. I think I may alternate brisk walking and slow walking for the rest of the week. I'll see how I do after that. I may decide to do 9 weeks of very brisk walking.

I used to have nightmares about running when I was in High School and had to run in PE class, so I know how you feel. Keep up the good work! I run pretty slow too, but each time I complete a day of the program, I feel like I've really accomplished something.

Well I just finished W1D1. I feel amazing! I've never run before, and indeed I've always been afraid of it. But I just went really slow. I sort of shuffled along, but I would still call it jogging. I'm excited for the rest of the week!

Well, I completed W1D4 tonight. I decided that I'm going to do each week at least twice. I was really slow tonight, my worst time yet! But it was really hot out and I didn't pass out, so I guess it was okay. I'm going to have a hard time fitting my sessions in this week since I'm going on vacation, but I will be getting plenty of walking in.
