I did W4D2 this morning. It was tough going on that last 5 minute run, but I somehow pulled through. Yay. I'm nervous about week 5, but I'll stay in the present moment for now.

Week 4 sucks! I'm doing it, but it's really tough. I'm superslow too, but I figure I can work on time after I complete the 9 weeks.

Way to go Whitney! I think you are a day ahead of me now. I don't do W4D2 until tomorrow morning. Or Friday if my foot acts up.

It's amazing how daunting 3 minutes seemed those first two weeks. Now 5 minutes, while challenging, seems reasonable. 8 minutes doesn't scare me. I can actually see myself completing this program and running a 5K!

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

Did Week 4 Day 1 on Monday. It was actually kind of easy for me. Though at one point I accidentally hit the pause button on my phone during a run and yeah lets just say my legs were way beyond tired before it clicked that it feels like we're running for a lot longer than we should be. LOL

Yesterday I rode my bike for 4 miles - that's SO much easier than jogging.

However I'm committed and I'll be doing Week 4 Day 2 this evening (if Hurricane Alex holds off on dumping rain on us)

If HE leads you to it, HE will see you through it.

Started back after a 2 month hiatus--I've been itching to get started again but had to wait for school to end (I was biking instead). It felt great to complete W4: D1. Hot, sticky but thrilled knowing I did it and I have the whole day ahead of me! I love exercising in the morning.

Week 4 is kicking my behind. Got through Day 1 barely and Day 2 today was just a joke. I wrote a blog today describing that experience. I'll be back out there on Thursday for Day 3.

I did Week 4 Day 1 today...and amazingly, I actually DID it!!! Seriously, if you would have told me in May that I would be able to run for 5 minutes at a time by the end of June, I probably would have laughed. But here I am!

CLOUDSXONFIRE - I am so sorry that you weren't able to complete the run. That had to be so frustrating! You know, I don't stretch at all prior to running, but I do stretch after. I read something about not stretching muscles that haven't been warmed up. You may want to look into this. Also, if you need to add an extra run for Week 4 or even an extra week at Week 4, that is okay. Look at how far you've come already!!!

W4D1 done!!! The first 5 minute run was easy but I could have used a few extra seconds of walking before the 2nd 3 minute run. The last 5 minute run kind of sucked. I spent a lot of time tracking down music that approximated my pace. I'm finding that the wrong beat makes it harder to relax. It turns out I picked the wrong version of one song and it was a LOT slower than I wanted it to be. Unfortunately it hit just after the 2nd 5 minute run started. Thank goodness hubby was working in the room at the moment (the treadmill is in his office) because I made him turn on the faster version of the song and I made it through. Barely.

That's the only downside to the interval run app. You can't advance the music once you launch the program. The next run should be better though.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

I did W4D1 today, and it was so discouraging.

I couldn't do the last 5 minute interval because my shins felt like they were on fire. This is the first time I haven't been able to complete a run. :(

I'm really good w/ stretching before and after - I'm not sure why my shins hurt so bad today. My next run day isn't until Friday, but I really hope that today was just an off-day, and that Friday I'll be able to go all the way.

W4D1 this evening. The humidity is awful. Started out really good, even the 1st five minute runs. The second 3 minute run was a steep incline. (ok I'm an idiot.) I made it through 2 of the 3 minutes and then walked. But got right back on with the second 5 minute run and finished strong. Need to find avoid that hill next time.

Finished day 1 and I feel great! The first 5 minute was tough and I barely made it. Then I made a mental shift and the next one felt great. I actually did the whole thing twice and it felt so good! I'm really proud of myself because I was afraid to move on to this week and was considering sticking with week 3 for another day, but I did great.

W4D1 is done! The 5 minute runs were hard, but I felt great at the end and walked an extra mile around the track after the podcast ended.

While I was doing w4 day 1 (which went great - yay!) I almost had the feeling that I would have done better WITHOUT the walking pauses (it's as if the rest period made it harder to start the next interval).

The first interval was a breeze and I felt as if I could have kept going without any problems, but the intervals just got harder and harder. I finished them all without stopping but the temptation is definitely there to try and "skip" to week 5 day 3 or something.

Has anyone else felt the same way??

Life got in the way so I had to switch up my days but Sunday I finished W4D3 and it went GREAT, even with hot and humid conditions and muddy roads. I was nervous about Week 4 and now I'm so looking forward to Week 5...thanks everyone for the encouragement! Best wishes everyone...see you in Week 5!

W4D3 DONE! I'm totally psyched. I ran inside for the first time today and I felt I was able to run much faster. It's really hot here lately so I'll be taking it inside for a while, but I'll get back outside the week before my race in July to get used to the weather again. Bring it on week 5!

Done with W4D3! Ready for week 5 on Monday...I think. This morning I got up early and hit the road at 7am. I was trying to beat the heat. Even at 7am it was 78. Did not take long to start sweating!!!
Congrats to everyone else who finished week 4, see you on the week 5 thread.

Week 4 is done!!! emoticon I had to go to the gym today and do it on the treadmill. It's too hot outside and I couldn't do it early. I felt really good thru the whole thing so I decided to run for 8 min during the last run. I feel so ready for week 5! I can't believe that I can run for 8 min.

Good luck everyone in Week 5. emoticon

I've been reading the posts for a couple weeks but just joined the team. I started the C25K program last week and started at week 3 because I had been working out some prior. That wasn't bad, but I was scared of this week, but I have now completed D2 and will do D3 tomorrow morning. I'm so excited and can't believe I've run 5 minutes straight four times so far this week. I wanted to join and post because I knew you guys would feel my excitement! Go C25K!

I just finished week 4, day 4. I decided to do an extra day of week 4 because I was having a hard time finishing all of my run intervals due to muscle fatigue in my legs. I gave myself 2 days rest and this morning I pushed through with ease and added an extra couple sprint intervals to the end!

Honestly I was pretty discouraged before today, so if anyone else is feeling discouraged and not able to complete your run intervals, just take your time. Stay with a week as long as it takes to feel confident. Don't worry about how fast others are progressing, and make sure to give yourself extra rest if needed. It also helped me to slow my runs down. I had a hard time pacing myself, but once I got that down it was easy to finish the intervals. Good luck all! You CAN do it!

Hi Week 4'rs. I started Week 5 today, but wanted to stop back in to remind you how great you are doing! You guys are doing a wonderful job, keep up the good work!

As far as the weight loss, I stressed for quite a while because I hadn't lost anyweight, but then all of a sudden I lost about 5 pounds in just a couple days! Don't worry about the scales, the important thing is that you are runners!

I hear you about the weight loss. I've been doing more cardio and been staying the same! I need to incorporate weights again. Been slacking in that area. But I'm thrilled I'm back on the road running again after breaking both my feet.

Good luck w/D3!

Just finished W4D2. I have to say - Week 5 is looming. I'm sure that I'll be able to complete the 2 miles next week; I just don't know how yet. I feel great after the shower and I'm enjoying some fresh broccoli, hummus and grapes. I'm a little disappointed that I've been at "this" for 3.5 weeks and I haven't lost a full 10lbs yet. I've gone over the calories on a few occasions; (damn weekends). I'm back on track right now and hope to be below 230 by the end of the week. My short term weight loss goal (the First 10%) is scheduled to be complete on 8/16. I have around 16lbs to go - 1.8lbs per week - before the Second 10% gets going

WTG BRSCLS, KSM and Kansas! You can do it. Tell yourself that it gets easier each week. Make new mantras about how strong you are becoming and how wonderful this program is at preparing you for the next level. Then get out there and kick serious butt. You can do it!! I am tackling the week 5 20 minute run tomorrow and I am totally stoked to do it. I have learned in the last two weeks that going into each run with that attitude of "can do" "will do" "cant wait" - makes all of the difference in my performance, endurance, and honestly the ease of my runs. Hope it helps you too! Go get em week 5 - you can seriously kick butt here. And everyone says, you get by week 5 and it is a piece a cake from there. I know you can do it!

See ya in the Week 5 folder my spark friends!

Well I just finished W4D3 I think. I was going down and looked down to my GPS I used to keep track of my time and the screen was blank so I spent the rest of the time using the first 2 days as a gauge basically then on my cool down walk at the end hit the button for the heck of it and it worked. I must have hit the off button by mistake as I was running. But I am going to move on to W5, hope to see lots of you there.

Kansasrose you will do fine you have done it this far and in the beginning I am sure did not think you could do any of it. You will complete the 5 minutes and beyond, just keep you mind focused.

I am going to try W4D1 tomorrow and for the first time I'm nervous. I've been able to complete the 1st 3 weeks without any extra walking, but this seems like a big jump...5 minutes of running?! I usually can't wait to run but this time I'm nervous and it's very weird. I run outside on gravel and in whatever weather (which right now is looking hot and muggy). Advice?

I completed W4D3 yesterday - Woo Hoo!! It was hot & sunny, 30C (=86F) but there a nice breeze. My ankles/knees & back felt good so I went ahead and did my run outdoors, on gravel, and finished my run with no problems. I feel pretty good today too - no odd pains, so my new shoes must be helping!

I am so proud of myself and all of us here, it's hard to believe we can run for 5 full minutes, when only a short time ago the 1.5 min run seemed difficult. I know I've gone from dreading the next week to looking forward to it with anticipation. And I know we can do this - determination & resolve will get us through!

Moving on to Week 5! Enjoy your runs this week! Linda

Way to go everyone! I knew you could all do it. Week 5 is going along really well for me and I know you will find the same. Trust the program and believe in yourself! It seems to me that this is more mental now - so decide you want more for you and go get it! I am so proud of all of us! Come one week 5 - they say if you tackle that one, the rest is a breeze. Believe in yourself!

Oh my gosh! I wish I would have found this team 2 months ago when the temps were lower!!!! I did W4D1 this morning and hung in there, but I 'll tell you it could have been easier if the humidity and heat was lower. I think I ran and walked alittle slower today. Hope Tuesday is cooler.

Way to Go everyone and good luck if tomorrow is your first! You CAn Do It!!!! I can do it, We Can Do IT!!!!!

Enjoy your runs!

Day 2 complete! It was a tough one (I had a bit of nausea yesterday due to something I ate on Friday, and so I'd spent the day not really eating, and was barely able to shove down a banana this morning), but then I was just really feeling it on the final 5-minute run. I felt SO GOOD when I finally walked in my front door; I'm so happy I pushed myself to complete that dang interval.

And thanks for all of your encouraging comments on speed! I'm trying really hard not to mind it, but I tend to compare myself to the friends who convinced me to start running... both of whom are training for a half-marathon right now. The idea of keeping up a 11-minute mile pace for 13 miles baffles me! I'm just shocked that I can actually shuffle along for five whole minutes straight.

Starting Week 4 tomorrow! I'm excited, but nervous. I know it's going to be tough, but I've made it this far.

I "skipped" the last day of week 3 - and dove into W4D1. I wanted to get my first run of each week, set for Sunday. As I continue to make progress, Sunday will always be my "long run" day.

I got up early and hit the track. For the next few weeks of distance increments, I feel more comfortable using the track to visually understand my progress.

It was a nice workout - in the humidity and light rain. The shower felt great and I finished it off under, refreshing cold water for a minute.

I really need to force myself to add strength, stretching to my cardio workouts. I don't know what's holding me back. I know that I'm weak, but I need to start somewhere, even if its a tad embarrassing.

I did it! I did it! I finished W4D2 finally with all odds against me. It is so muggy here this morning the air is so thick and actually had someone mention that to me while I was out at 6 this morning. This darn cold allergy thing is not only in my head now but my chest as well. I adjusted my route a little but not quite enough to miss my dreaded hill but I adjusted for that and actually did my extra minute at the end for the challenge and was the fastest I have ever been my walk/jog average was a 14.75 mile.(Slow I know but fast for me.)

Run2loseand Michelle don't freak out or be nervous you can and will do fine in W4.

Dublreed sometimes it takes that extra day to build your confidence.

Cindy, your words of encouragement are such a blessing I actually thought of you this morning on my run that I wanted to join you in W5.

Have a great day everyone.
