I completed Day 1 today....again. I made a funny blog about the treadmill getting stuck at 5MPH and not being able to turn the speed down.
But anyway good luck to everyone else and congrats to those that completed week 5 and are moving on.

Hi, I just did W5D1 today, and it was tough! i did only half of the second run, and thought i was throwing in the towel for that day by walking through the rest, but after a good 5 minute walk i picked up the last run. i dont know how i will manage EIGHT minutes, let alone TWENTY, but i wont wait so long to run day 2. previously because of a lot of rain and a bit of laziness I have been running only once a week. now that the weather is finally better i will go twice a week at least.

it might be that i will have to repeat this week, which wouldnt be terrible, but it would be great if i could get it done in one go and move on. i had to log in and check these posts for inspiration, and surprised at all the success you are having! quite excellent!

BuschDR2010 - Congrats on doing D3!

I did not complete D3, so I will be doing week 5 over next week. I did 10 min jog then slowed down to get some water and just could not get back into running again. So I spent the next 10 min walking and jogging. I do not feel like I gave week 5 my everything so next week I will do it again.

Finished W5D3. Ran 2 miles in 22:05. Not as fast as I'd like it to be and it certainly wasn't easy. Couldn't seem to take a full breath the entire time - but my legs wouldn't stop.

I know that I'll get the 5K. Starting to think about 10K and beyond. I'd like the weight to start falling off - but I think that will happen with even better food choices and some "muscle-building"

Hi everybody! I did W5D1 in the rain Tuesday and W5D2 this morning. I was up and out with the birds and it was beautiful. I'm excited (and a little nervous) for Saturday and the 20-minute run. I can do it stamina-wise, but my 40+ body gets a few aches and pains! However, you all give me so much hope. I'm so loving this c25K thing!

Congrats mamamary. Awesome job. My D3 is today. I since the runs started to be set up according to distances - I've stopped running by times and started by distances. I'm heading to a 1 mile long loop - running/walking track after work. I've been jogging at a 10-10:30/mile pace. I'm thinking that 2 miles should take no more than 22 minutes. I'm a little anxious about how it will feel - but I know that I will make those 2 miles. Hope everyone has a great day today

Just completed W5D1 yesterday. It wasn't bad, but my breathing wasn't great. My legs, knees, and feet were fine but I had difficulty catching my breath, but I pressed through. I was determined not to stop until the podcast told me to. I'm running indoors now and I can do a lap on this track in about a minute (about a 13 minute mile). So I just count the laps to know when I'm almost finished (a 13 minute mile is pretty fast for me). Anyway, I'm trying not to think about day 3 just yet. Nervous but excited. Good luck to everyone else out there---we're all doing AWESOME!

I did D2 today and I have to admit I was happy for the walk in between. It was sooo hot and humid, but I managed to tack an additional 10 on my last 8. So I am looking forward to D3. I know we can do it.

Just finished Week 5 - Day 2; Showdown with those 2 miles is looming. I'm running at a 10-11 minute mile pace. Legs are fine - its the stamina (breathing) that I'm concerned about. But, I refuse to fail - so bring it on.

I took about a 2 week break from C25k because of my legs/knees. I gradually started back walking and decided to turn my c25k app on. I figured I would just use it as a guideline and try my best..doing week 4 again. Well..I did week5 day1 by mistake..whoo hoo! I had no problems, while I struggled a bit with week 4 :)

Oh my gosh, I DID IT! Week 5, Day 3--Done! I actually mapped out the first mile so I could time it--13.5 minutes, which is at least faster than I walk, lol!

This is the first time I've run an entire mile IN MY LIFE! Even in school, I would always take walk breaks. After that first mile, the rest of it was just icing on the cake.

emoticon to everyone else who's finished Day 3, and to those of you who are just starting the week--You can do it! The posts in this thread are so, so, so inspirational.

See you all in Week 6!

YES YES YES W5D3 DONE! I am so happy I did it! I thought of everyone's posts when it got tough and said, if they can do it, I can do it too!!

I had planned to run yesterday but everyone had other plans. But the extra day actually helped - it was cooler today. I can't believe I did it - AND I ran farther down the greenway than I have ever run!

I can't believe that I've started running at 51 (almost 52!) DPERAZA - I never expected to get this far either. Just keep going! Thanks everybody, for all the support! See you in WEEEEEK SSSIIIIXXXX WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO Linda

Hello everyone! Congratulations to everyone who has finished Week 5 and those of you still working on it, you can do it!

I know I haven't posted in a few days, but I was staying with a cousin working on flooring in his new house and there was no internet access!

But, on to more important things, I ran W5D3 on Saturday and guess what! I owned it! Yes, I owned it! I ran my fat butt around that 2 mile track in 20 minutes. Yes, I ran 2 miles in 20 minutes, I couldn't believe it. I didn't even know how far the track was until I asked my cousin, I nearly passed out when he said two miles! I have never run a 10 minute mile in my life, much less 2! I am so excited and so proud of myself!!!!

Thanks to everyone for all of your support!!!!

W5D3 for the second time. It went much better today. I made sure that I had eaten well, and I changed my sneakers. I think the ones I've been wearing are going to be any good for the longer distances. 5-8 minutes at a time is ok, but my feet feel so much better today. On to week 6.

I did Day 2 yesterday, and oh my gosh after reading this thread I am SO EXCITED about running Day 3 tomorrow! You all rock! emoticon

Anyway, before doing my Day 2 run I was soooo scared about Day 3... And then I started Day 2, and found that those eight minutes? I killed them! And then, just as I was recovering, I ran into a friend who was running around the lake in the opposite direction... So I only took a two minute recovery so I could run with her, and then I went ANOTHER eight minutes and then some! And I felt great afterward! I beat I ran 20 minutes total, easily.

I KNOW I'm going to beat Day 3 now, and it's so so so exciting. emoticon

D3 done!!! It was much better than when I did it a month ago my body did not mind it at all and my mind was okay as long as I kept it busy long enough to not keep looking at the clock.

Those of you who finished it isn't it an awesome feeling of accomplishment?

Those of you who have not you can do it just keep telling yourself through it how healthy you are getting and you can do it!

To all you who have crushed D3 - emoticon emoticon

I ran D3 today - what a feeling!

To all of you who have D3 coming up - emoticon You SO can do it!!

A funny side story for D3 - I have an awesome friend who is running the program "with" me (we live in different states). *queue harp music here* And she made up our own podcasts with our own music. Coolest thing ever. And there she is, in my head encouraging me on every week, every run. It's awesome. Are you feeling the love, yet? Well, I get to the D3 podcast and there she is in the beginning of the run just outpouring support and love and encouragement ... got the warm fuzzies yet? And then, right there in the middle of the 20 minute run ... right at the 10 minute mark, just when I expect words of encouragement I hear, "Quit your whining and MOVE YOUR BUTT!" I almost fell off the treadmill I started laughing so hard.

So ... when you all get to the 10 minute mark, I encourage you to think of Amy and her true words of love and encouragement ... that's what friendship is all about, right there, folks. emoticon

Not only did I run 20 minutes for the first time EVER in my life (my record was probably about 10 minutes in middle school...), but in that 20 minutes, I ran 1.9 miles, putting me at about a 10.5 minute mile!!! I honestly can't believe it. My bf ran with me and after halfway, he lagged behind a few feet so that if I felt the need to slow down, he would be back there to encourage me to keep going. Instead, after 18.5 minutes, I ran FASTER! I'm so proud of myself, and of everyone else out there who finished week 5 this week!!! We're all amazing!

Anyone who is just entering week 5 and afraid of day 3, you WILL be able to tackle it!

Finished Day 1 this morning. It was absolutely beautiful - no wind, blue skies and the track was all mine. This sure would be a lot more fun if I wasn't hauling appx 230lbs around that track. I can't wait to see feel what running will be like as my body improves. Everyone who's killed day 3 - you have my admiration. Everyone who's ready to do battle with it - Good luck
