I skipped to D3 today instead of doing D2. I'm going to be busy on Fri. and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my C25K session in. I seriouly think that it's all a mental thing. After just 5 min of running I wanted to walk, but I knew I could keep doing it. I was able to do the whole 25 min without stopping. I guess after doing last weeks 20 min run it doesn't seem as intimidating as before.

WTG Karen!!! Glad to hear it was easier this time. We are finally having some nicer weather. It's not as hot so if I'm able to run this Fri. I'll be doing it outside.

BUSCHDR2010- Good job on your progress and doing the whole workout! You can do it!

Ran W6D2 tonight - didn't feel terrific. I ran around the track with a soccer practice going on in the middle. It gave something to watch - but the freshly cut grass had a pretty bad effect on my breathing. The air was thick. I felt portly hauling my butt around that track - but I refuse to give in. This program is helping me stay compliant. I need to be a little more disciplined eating and if I stick to the strength workouts - it will all go well. I'm making progress - slowly but surely and I feel good.

3rd times a charm I finally finished D2. On to just the running intervals now. I really had to keep telling myself you can do this you can do this in the last 2 minutes.

KSMGlass I know I was grateful for the walk times lately as well much needed in the heat and humidity.

Kansasrose67 good luck today on D1.

Congratulations all of you moving onto W7.

Woo Hoo W6D3 DONE!! I had to really push through the last 4 minutes - I always hit that slight incline on my run home. Like a lot of the posts earlier, I had to really slow down and it wasn't pretty, but I did it!

I am always surprised that I actually finish these runs, sticking to the podcast instructions - I guess I should stop expecting to fail (smacking myself on hand, stop that! lol). The program really does seem to fit what your body is able to do.

Moving on to Week 7! Have a great week everyone!

I just finished D1 today. I started really good even with my speed, but at the last 5 min run I thought I wasn't going to make it. I had to go down all the way to 4.0 I thought it was going to be a breeze after the 20 min run. Oh well at least I did the whole thing. I'll worry about my speed later on.

Good luck everybody else on your runs!

W6D3 - I DID IT!!! I was nervous and it was hard, but not so hard that I had trouble with it. The good kind of hard, ya know what I mean. I had to work at it, and that's a good thing. On to week 7. I'm amazed and so proud of myself, and all of you, for doing this. emoticon

I'm so happy that day 3 was so great for you guys! It's was HARD for me! But it's great all at the same time. I feel good knowing I'll be able to repeat this interval for a few more times in week 7 before having to tackle more.

Hey everyone! Well I start Week 6 tomorrow and I'm actually looking forward to it. After doing the 20 min run, going into the intervals again is a pieceof cake to me. I'm really proud of myself for completing the entire thing without walking once. I can't believe that I only have 3 weeks left of this amazing program! I'm going to do bridge to 10k afterwards, I'm so excited!! emoticon

I nailed W6D3 today. Finished 3 full km in my 25 min (Maybe that's slow, but it's good for me) at a pace that I felt like I could have maintained forever!
I really felt good about my run today. I actually took my headphones out for a while and just listened to the birds singing, the wind in the trees and the rhythm of my feet, breathing, and dog running alongside me. It felt great! (And I never thought I'd be able to run without my precious podcast to keep me going)
Also, I ran into another runner today in the hilly section who commented that the "hillwork here's a real challenge." which made me feel so much better. I thought it was just me that found it difficult!
Well, keep up the good work everyone, and I'll see you in Week 7. (Can you believe we're almost done?)

Finished W6D1 this morning. Great cool morning - early on Sunday - had the track to myself. Still running at a 10-10:30 pace. I didn't walk 1/2 after the 3/4 run - I just walked a 1/4 and couldn't wait to start back up. I felt like running an exter 1/4 mile at the end - but figured that I've stayed compliant with the program so far and been healthy - I didn't want to get out of wack.

Great job, everyone! Awesome distance, Dublreed! I hope that I can build up to that pace soon. Shawn, I hope your wife's knees are feeling better. Linda, I am starting day 1 tomorrow morning after giving myself an extra day of rest (from running). I think that an extra day here and there actually improves my runs. I hope that you find the same is true for you.

Finished W6D2 today! I rather enjoyed the 10s! I know a lot of runners who seem to run 10 & 1s, rather than straight time. When I get thru this program, I may end up converting!

My days between runs are getting spaced out a bit - trying to fit in golfing between the gym & running! Also, I've been battling leg cramps in my quads at night (menopause emoticon I know, TMI) so almost need the extra day to allow the soreness to subside. So frustrating!

Congrats to everyone moving on to Week 7! Wow we're almost to the end of this - woo hoo! And Shawn - too funny - I feel the same way about the techno music!

Curlemex - Glad I could help!

Well, we just finished W6D3, so I guess this is goodbye to this week!

I discovered something really strange though this morning, over the past 7 weeks I have made progress obviously as I am now running 25 minutes straight, but something stranger is happening as well. I have been using DJ Steveboy's Podrunner Intervals and I think I'm actually starting to enjoy techno music! Hahahahaha!!!!

See you all in Week 7.

LShawn - That is just what I needed to hear. I'm bad about stretching. I'll try icing it too. I think my shoes are still okay. I plan to get a new pair within the next couple of months. They are running shoes and are very comfortable for me but maybe it's time for a new pair.

Hello everyone! Today is a rest day for my wife and I, but we are gearing up for 25 minutes tomorrow! Her knees have been bothering her a lot here lately, so she went to see the doctor today fully expecting him to tell her to stop running, but he didn't! He told her, and yes those of you who are active and have been around for a while can guess these, 1) Ice before & after runs, 2) stretch, 3) continue taking Motrin 30 minutes before your run if necessary, 4) GET A GOOD PAIR OF RUNNING SHOES! I had to laugh because I've been telling her the same things based on what I've read on this group!

Anyway, I'll let you know how W6D3 goes tomorrow.

I'm supposed to do W6D2 tomorrow but last night my knees started bothering. Think it could be my shoes? My knees ache just enough to be annoying. Not sure if I should go ahead and try to run and see what happens or give it a couple more days to see what happens. Any suggestions?

W6D2 - had a good run today. Worked on quieting my brain and just enjoying the time by myself. I also have new sneakers with really great inserts and boy does that make a difference. If I don't get to Day 3 over the weekend, I'll do it on Monday. I'm a little wary of 25 minutes, and I don't know why. I've been able to handle everything else, there's no reason why I can't do 25, 28, 30, etc.

Well I did not finish D2 the way that I wanted to I stopped with 1.5 minutes to go in the last 10 grr. wish I had just pushed myself. I then walked for about a .5 minute and then did it and then also did my extra minute at the end but guess I need to do that day over. Not sure what happened to me I was doing so good. I have no doubts that the next time I can ace it though.

You are all doing so good. Delphyne I am so glad your feeling better. Good job! Dublreed, Stargazer08, Jellybean007, Hammlin, Shawn, and everyone else. I hope I don't get to far behind you.

Cindy, it is so nice of you to come back and check in on us.

W6D2 done! The only tough thing about it was that my monthly started yesterday so I felt pretty crampy and lethargic, but I got through the run nonetheless! I was a little slower than usual, but not by too much. I'm really glad there are no more walking intervals though!

W6D2 in the history books! I had a tough run day (long week - very tired) but I thought of you guys and how everyone seems to get a run where you want to give up but kept pushing. That got me through and I finished! You guys are the best motivation going! emoticon

Well thanks Delphyne and Nu2running for making me feel a little less guilty about my rest day yesterday. What a great way to remember your sister, Nu2!
You know, I think I must have needed it too. Today I ran W2D6 and I ran hard. (Well, hard for me or any random gimpy old man lol!)
I pushed hard and finished almost 2 min. faster than usual. My HRM says I burned almost 400 calories!
It was difficult and I'm a little anxious about day 3, but I feel good about my accomplishment.
Keep running everyone, I'm proud of us!

Ended up taking another rest day today. A meeting popped up at work and I couldn't get to the gym. I did register for a walk in September, which I hope to run, to raise money for pancreatic cancer research. My step-sister died from pancreatic cancer last July. We miss her a lot. emoticon

Shawn,

You are graduating - and getting stronger and healthier and leaner. Your dog (I have 5 myself) may have to start his/her own C25K program to keep up with you!

Woohoo - way to persevere even when you thought to give up! You rock!

Hello all! I ran W6D2 this morning. For the first time ever, during the 2nd run, I thought I may not be able to finish it. Fortunately it was only a fleeting thought. I think it was primarily because I was getting so frustrated with my dog. He did not want to run in the same direction as me this morning and his ADD was much worse than normal (yes I do believe my dog has ADD). So, he kept running to the side, or trying to stop, etc. and I felt like in addition to running I was having to pull him the whole way. But anyway, I didn't stop, ran the whole thing and now it's on to W6D3!

Also - kind of bittersweet saying goodbye to my walking intervals, I'll miss them, not because I need them anymore, so I really don't know why, it's bizarre....kind of like graduating high school...

Extra rest day today. It's way more fun to tell you about my amazing runs, but I guess I want you guys to hold me accountable!
I was home with a sick kid all day with no-one to watch him until after midnight, so I just couldn't squeeze it in. Truth be told, I think the extra rest might do me some good. I'm profoundly tired.
But look out... I'm going to *kill* day 2 at 6 am tomorrow!

BRCLS - Congratulations!

Nu2Running - I think that's what I love about running, it's time that is just me, so I can clear my head. It's so relaxing and it's a wonderful way to start the day!

Week 6 Day 1 COMPLETED!! My goodness that was tough. I had to keep telling myself that I just ran 20 mins on Monday so I know I can do this. Felt great getting it done. Looking forward to day 2.

I need to do day 3 today- but I had to walk with my neighbor this morning and I have Zumba after work (me and my big mouth motivating my coworkers) I don't want to over do it, but I don't want to fall behind :(

W6D1 yesterday, my only problem is that I get bored. Now I need to work on getting some peace in my head. I'm going, going, going all the time. I'm not used to having quiet in my head. Today is a day off, and I'm going shopping for new sneakers. I probably won't run in them until I break them in a little.

Dublreed - I agree! I did W6D1 today and thought the same thing, why am I stopping to walk? But I did, and it's probably a good thing, I'm still pretty tired from an exhausting weekend and behind on sleep!

Ran W6D1 today! Those walking intervals were driving me crazy though. After knowing that I can running 20 minutes straight, I didn't want to have to stop to walk. Can't wait for days 2 and 3! And congrats to everyone else!

Just finished W6D3. Ran for 25 minutes and it felt pretty good too. I had my longest distance today too. I'm really glad we keep this interval for next week so that I can try to work on my speed some. I'm still very slow emoticon but I'm getting it done. Today it was 99 outside when we got started! emoticon but since our first 5k is in July we'll be prepared!

For those of you just starting week 6. I want to say first - you can do it. The first day of the week was a struggle for most of us. Not sure why, but it is a familiar pattern as I look over the weeks.

Second, do NOT give up - just keep working the program and you will be amazed, just like you were at the end of week 5 (remember the one you thought you couldn't do? but you just killed!!).

Third - those of you already underway, WAY TO GO!!

I know you can do it. Just remember, mental attitude will carry you through it. Your body already knows the plan!

Go out and get yourself healthier you deserve it!

Woohoo
Cindy

woohoo kicked Assets! I just did Week 6 Day 3. At the end of the 25 min run, I felt inspired to keep going. I wanted to do the full trail that I was on as it was just a little shorter than my normal running spot (2.88 miles) and I thought - I just want to see if I can do it, If I can make the 5 k. Is this really possible?

Hell yeah!!!! I finished it - slow and steady at 34.47 minutes. I just kept going. And honestly - It FELT GREAT!!!!

Woohoo - we really can do this everyone. I am an old, overweight, out-of-shape, mother of 3 who spent her whole adult life being "less than!" I excelled at work, and in my personal life, but I never felt good about me. I have a chronic pain condition, severe arthritis in my neck, 4 bulging discs...and here I am. Woohoo - I lost 17 pounds and today I ran 2.88 miles without stopping!

We can do this!!!!! See you in week 7!

Cindy
